Welcome to the introduction of McGowan Veterinary Hospital, a local pet hospital situated at 1070 N Main St, Vidor, TX 77662, USA. Catering to the health and well-being of your beloved animal companions, McGowan Veterinary Hospital operates within the platform category of 'Pet Hospital,' providing a range of essential services and potentially offering related goods for sale. This introduction aims to offer local users in Singapore a detailed overview of what this veterinary care facility entails, drawing upon available information to present an objective picture of its environment, services, features, and any discernible promotional aspects. Please note that as local users in Singapore, direct experience with this Texas-based facility is unlikely, and this introduction is based solely on the information available online.

McGowan Veterinary Hospital can be contacted via phone at (409) 769-9664 or through their mobile number, +1 409-769-9664. These contact details are crucial for local pet owners in the Vidor, Texas area to schedule appointments or inquire about their pet's health needs. While Singaporean users may not directly utilize these contact methods, understanding their availability is part of a comprehensive overview of the hospital's accessibility to its local clientele.

Based on the limited information available, particularly the customer reviews, we can attempt to piece together a picture of McGowan Veterinary Hospital. One positive review mentions that "They've been 👍, treated my Baby Girl for ear infection, gland expulsion, flea pill every month, bronchitis, they're friendly, and better on pocket book too." This suggests that the hospital offers routine veterinary services such as treatment for common ailments like ear infections and bronchitis, as well as preventative care like flea medication. The reviewer also highlights the friendly staff and potentially competitive pricing, which are important factors for pet owners seeking accessible and compassionate care.

However, another, more detailed review presents a significantly contrasting experience, particularly concerning surgical procedures. This review recounts a negative outcome following a surgical removal of what was believed to be a cyst on an 8-month-old dog. The reviewer describes a large, unexpectedly extensive incision, post-operative bleeding, and a lack of direct communication from the veterinarian post-surgery. The experience further details difficulties in contacting the clinic after hours and the need for emergency care at another veterinary hospital. The reviewer also expresses concern about the professionalism of the care received at McGowan Veterinary Hospital regarding the follow-up on their pet's condition. This account raises serious concerns about the hospital's capabilities and protocols, especially in surgical contexts.

Considering these contrasting viewpoints, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment and overall quality of care at McGowan Veterinary Hospital. The positive review suggests a friendly atmosphere and affordability for routine treatments. However, the negative review paints a picture of potential issues with surgical procedures, post-operative care, and communication. Without further information or a larger pool of reviews, it's difficult to ascertain which experience is more representative of the typical patient interaction at this facility.

Regarding services, the available information indicates that McGowan Veterinary Hospital offers at least some range of medical treatments, including addressing common infections and providing preventative medications. The mention of a surgical procedure suggests that they do offer surgical services, although the negative review strongly advises against choosing them for "SURGERY of Any-kind." It is unclear from the provided information the full spectrum of services they provide. Typically, a pet hospital offers a variety of services such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental care, diagnostics (like blood tests and imaging), and treatments for illnesses and injuries. Whether McGowan Veterinary Hospital provides all these services comprehensively cannot be confirmed based solely on the given text.

In terms of features, the positive review highlights the friendliness of the staff and potentially lower costs. These could be considered positive features for pet owners prioritizing a welcoming environment and budget-conscious care. However, the negative review points to significant potential drawbacks, particularly concerning surgical expertise and after-hours support. The lack of a dedicated emergency service mentioned in the negative review could be a limitation for pet owners facing urgent situations outside of the hospital's operating hours.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. Often, veterinary hospitals might promote specific services, seasonal specials (like vaccination clinics), or new equipment. The absence of such information here makes it difficult to comment on any active promotional strategies employed by McGowan Veterinary Hospital. Local users in Vidor, Texas, would likely need to consult the hospital directly or visit their website (if available) for any current promotions.

In conclusion, based on the limited and somewhat contradictory information available, McGowan Veterinary Hospital in Vidor, Texas, appears to be a facility that offers routine veterinary care and potentially surgical services. While one customer review praises their friendly staff and affordability for treatments like ear infections and preventative care, another review details a severely negative experience with a surgical procedure, highlighting concerns about the extent of the surgery, post-operative care, communication, and after-hours support. Without a broader range of feedback or more detailed information about their services and facilities, it is challenging to provide a fully comprehensive and definitively positive or negative assessment. Local users in the Vidor, Texas area should consider these points and potentially seek further information or testimonials before entrusting their pets to McGowan Veterinary Hospital, especially for surgical needs. For users in Singapore, this information serves as an example of the kind of factors one considers when evaluating a local pet hospital.

NOT the PLACE for SURGERY of Any-kind. My 8 mo. old dog was told he had a cyst on his chest that needed to be surgically removed. It was the size of a quarter so I figured it would be a minor incision. After the surgery he was brought out to take home and the doctor never spoke to me other than she printed my invoice and gave it to the office girl. I was shocked when I saw an exposed 4” - 5” incision on his chest! Within 15 sec he started dripping blood on their floor. The Dr never came out to look at the incision, but the girl told me it would stop and I was given paper towels and assisted to my car. My dog was of course lethargic. We went home and he slept for 2 hrs. Upon getting up he had a pool of blood under him and he had a large bulge that had grown underneath the incision site. I called McGowans, they were closed and the answering machine gave a number to a CLOSED down ER center. I called another vet and was told to rush him to Lake Charles vet hospital. He was having excessive blood loss. The hospital kept him overnight on morphine and an IV and said they would try everything to stop the bleeding and hopefully not have to open him up again. They were able to stop the bleeding. I was told to pick him up the next morning since they are not a daytime hospital. He was his Happy self again upon picking him up. He was bandaged up and I was told he is now in the care of your vet. McGowans never called to check on him so I had to call them before they closed and the Dr admitted that they knew and got papers that morning from the hospital, but apparently they didn’t feel it was important to check on my pet. The Dr there handled everything very unprofessionally. I took him to a different vet who after seeing the incision was shocked at the length of it when I showed him a prior picture of the small cyst in question. This was not a bleeding issue since he was neutered 3 months prior “With Another Vet” and had no issues. I have my assumptions and we will leave it there. Our dog is still in recovery and frequent monitoring over his incision/ surgery. I wish I could post pictures of the prior cyst and post surgery incision!

My only complaint is I wish she would have been alittle more aggressive towards getting my dog better sooner than what we are and yeah who am I to tell her her business, well in the guy with the sick dog but in my eyes he's way more than just a dog ok! I'll leave it at that ok, I do appreciate how she did a really good job while keeping the prices reasonably down, I thank her for that for sure but I mean God willing there's next payday and he and I will go back and see about getting it all straight. Everyone there was very nice though, they made the experience very pleasant.

I took 2 cats to get declawed. They did the declawing as scheduled and seemed very nice. They did send some bandages home with me and told me I had to redress the wounds if they dont stop bleeding. The reason I give them one star is because they did not send any written care instructions for my cats. They did tell me to keep the paws wrapped for 2 days. (which to me is not standard practice. I was trained in the US Army as a combat lifesaver. My training taught me that no bandage should go more than 24hrs without redressing.) Contrary to what I was taught, I listened to the vet. Big mistake! 2 days later when I attempted to remove the bandages I had to use water to soften the blood to loosen the bandages from the wounds. This in turn inevitably reopened the wounds. The bandages had dried to the open wounds and any attempt to remove the bandage resulted in reopening the wounds. Upon changing the bandages I also noticed that they did not suture or glue the open wounds shut. Every claw had two flapping pieces of each toe wide open and not secure in any way. After that horrible experience had passed I thought all would be ok. I was wrong. Months later one of my cats toes is infected and swelling. He had no injury to the foot. I believe it is simply due to the lack of proper care given by this vet. I will be contacting this vet to see how they want to proceed with fixing my cats foot. At that time I will update this review.
