This level of care fosters trust and reduces the stress often associated with veterinary visits for both pets and their human companions. Comprehensive Veterinary Services with Informed Decision-Making

McClelland Small Animal Hospital, under the guidance of professionals like Dr. Marylisa Reynders, provides a wide array of veterinary services, characterized by thorough explanations and client education. Their offerings include, but are likely not limited to:

  • General Wellness and Preventative Care: This forms the bedrock of long-term pet health. Services include routine physical examinations, which are critical for monitoring overall health and detecting potential issues early. They offer customized vaccination protocols to protect pets against common and serious diseases (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus), comprehensive parasite control programs (including heartworm, flea, and tick prevention), and expert nutritional counseling to ensure pets maintain an ideal weight and receive proper dietary support.

  • Detailed Explanations and Options: A highly valued feature is the staff's commitment to "answer all my questions in detail and explain why they are making a recommendation." Furthermore, they "offer options when available and explain each options pros and cons to help me make the best decision." This empowers pet owners to be active participants in their pet's healthcare decisions, fostering transparency and trust.

  • Advanced Diagnostics: To accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries, a comprehensive pet hospital typically provides extensive in-house laboratory services for blood work (complete blood count, chemistry panels), urinalysis, fecal examinations, and cytology. Imaging capabilities such as X-rays (radiography) are crucial for evaluating skeletal structures, internal organs, and identifying foreign bodies. Depending on the facility, advanced imaging like ultrasound might also be available for more detailed soft tissue assessments.

  • Surgical Procedures: As a "Small Animal Hospital," it is equipped to perform various surgical operations, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries (e.g., tumor removal, foreign body removal, gastrointestinal surgery). Any surgical intervention would be conducted with rigorous sterile protocols, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and robust pain management strategies to ensure patient safety and comfort during recovery.

  • Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services, including professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing performed under anesthesia), extractions of diseased teeth, and thorough oral health assessments, are vital for preventing systemic health issues stemming from poor oral hygiene.

  • Emergency and Urgent Care: While not specified as a 24/7 emergency center, a pet hospital is typically prepared to handle urgent and emergency cases during its operating hours. Pet owners are generally advised to call ahead in an emergency to allow the staff to prepare for their arrival.

  • Pharmacy and Retail: An in-house pharmacy provides convenient access to prescribed medications, and a retail area may offer prescription diets, preventative products, and other essential pet care items.

This isnt just my vet but its like another family. We and our pups (all 4) are treated like family and the professionalism exhibited from the staff is next to none! Plus they help the city of buffalo animal shelter!

They are absolutely amazing here! Both my pups are patients here and they just love everyone there. If my cat would handle the car a little better I take the extra 10 minute drive for her to be seen by them as well. You feel like family when they and that's exactly how they make you pets feel. Highly recommend them!

The staff is awesome! Dr. R is the best... She's super caring and only wants the best for your pets. We truly appreciate all they did for our Chaos Kitty in his final hours. We were in awe of All the compassion and caring from Dr R and the staff and have now decided to switch vets and bring all our fur babies here. 🙂
