I started to go here because I adopted my dog through the Buffalo Animal Shelter and they offer a discount with them for adopting. My dog gets nervous around other dogs, and they are super accommodating with that. They allow me to do a call check in and then enter though the garage door when they are ready to take him back. They also cash me out inside the room too so that I don't have to stress my dog out more when we are there. My dog loves the staff and everyone there is so nice. I love going there cause sometimes as a pit bull and reactive dog parent, so many people will judge you and be rude but the staff there are so amazing and they make me feel like I'm a good dog mama. I highly recommend them especially if you have a reactive dog. Thank you for taking care of Buddy Ray.

The environment at McClelland Small Animal Hospital is designed to be professional yet accommodating, aiming to provide a comforting experience for pets and their owners. Reviews specifically praise their exceptional efforts to create a low-stress environment for reactive dogs. This includes allowing clients to call in upon arrival and entering through a dedicated garage door to avoid the waiting room, as well as handling checkouts within the exam room. Such accommodations demonstrate a proactive approach to minimizing anxiety in sensitive animals, fostering a more positive veterinary experience. The facility itself, as a long-established hospital, maintains a clean, comfortable, and efficient setting equipped with modern veterinary technology. This would include well-appointed examination rooms, dedicated areas for diagnostics like digital X-rays and ultrasound, and surgical suites for various procedures. The presence of friendly and accommodating staff, as noted in positive reviews, contributes significantly to a welcoming atmosphere where pet owners feel supported and their concerns are heard. Located centrally in Buffalo, the hospital benefits from off-street parking, adding to the convenience for clients.
McClelland Small Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, fitting the description of a full-service "Pet Hospital." Their core offerings include proactive preventative medicine, which is the foundation of their practice. This encompasses annual wellness exams, vaccinations tailored to individual pet needs, and microchip implantation for identification and safety. The hospital also provides essential diagnostic services, with an in-house laboratory for quick results on blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams, along with digital X-ray and limited diagnostic ultrasound capabilities for more detailed internal assessments. Surgical services are extensive, covering both soft tissue surgeries (such as spays, neuters, and mass removals) and orthopedic surgeries, including cruciate ligament repair and basic fracture repair. Dental care is a significant focus, with comprehensive dental cleanings and dental X-rays to ensure optimal oral health. Beyond medical procedures, McClelland also provides convenient services like an on-site pharmacy for prescription medications, a range of pet grooming services to keep pets looking and feeling their best, and pet boarding facilities for when owners are away. They also offer Class IV Deep Tissue Laser Therapy for pain reduction, inflammation control, and accelerated healing, a modern therapeutic option for various conditions. The hospital is equipped to provide emergency veterinary services during its operating hours, trained to handle urgent care situations and stabilize critical cases.
Several features distinguish McClelland Small Animal Hospital within the Buffalo veterinary landscape. Its status as the "oldest existing and operating animal hospital in Buffalo, New York" speaks to a long-standing legacy of trust and experience. This community involvement underscores their dedication to animal welfare beyond their direct client base.
In terms of promotional information, McClelland Small Animal Hospital utilizes various strategies to reach the community and attract clients. Their collaboration with the Buffalo Animal Shelter, offering a discount for adopted dogs, is a significant promotional partnership that benefits both new pet owners and rescued animals. This provides a direct incentive for new pet parents to choose McClelland. Their official website serves as a comprehensive resource, detailing their services, introducing their veterinary team, and providing online forms and an online shop for convenient access to products and medications. They also highlight their "affordable vet services" and their commitment to "excellent client communication, education, and service." While specific rotating promotions are not detailed in the initial reviews, their website typically features ongoing offers such as a "$25 off your first visit" for new clients (with a promo code and specified end date, e.g., May 31, 2025). They also promote preventative care plans (e.g., Happy Healthy Pets™ Care Plans) which make vet-recommended care more affordable. The hospital accepts various payment options, including cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and Care Credit, increasing accessibility for clients. The strong positive word-of-mouth, evident in the numerous glowing testimonials found online, acts as a powerful organic promotional tool, reinforcing their reputation for compassionate and high-quality care, particularly for pets with specific needs.

Jun 10, 2024 · Heather MurphyVery uncompassionate people every time you call, they can't get you in for a month or two, and then they say, well, if you want to pay a hundred and twenty five dollar emergency visit fee, we come in, they do that all the time. The place just isn't the same anymore never take another one of my pets there.. All about the money, like with everywhere. Else shameful? And they say they care about pets, if you've got the money they care about pets
