Dr. Annie Ryan of Marshall County Veterinary Clinic is absolutely amazing! She has been so good to our animals. You can tell she truly cares about her patients and loves what she does. She explains things thoroughly and takes her time to answer questions. She came out to our hobby farm and trimmed our mini Highland cows hooves and even painted them for fun at my request, which went above and beyond. She also trimmed the hooves of our mini donkey and two mini fainting goats, without us even asking. She’s taken great care of our two new Karakachan puppies as well. We’ve also had Dr. Charlie out to our farm as well, and he was equally as great. I highly recommend them, including for livestock!! We like them so much that we drive 45 minutes one way for appointments for our pups. They are the best vets office I’ve ever used!

The clinic has a long-standing history in the community, with a legacy that includes multi-generational veterinarians, ensuring a deep understanding of local animal health needs and a commitment to ongoing care.

The environment at Marshall County Veterinary Clinic is generally described as friendly and professional, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both animals and their owners. The clinic strives to ensure that all patients are treated with kindness and attention, creating an environment where pets feel as comfortable as possible during their visits. The convenience of their location on IL-17 makes them readily accessible to residents in Lacon and the wider Marshall County area.

As a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," Marshall County Veterinary Clinic offers an extensive array of services tailored to meet the needs of both small and large animals. For **small companion animals** (dogs, cats, and potentially small mammals), their services include:

  • **Preventative & Wellness Care:** This is a cornerstone of their practice, encompassing annual vaccinations, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, puppy and kitten exams, nutritional counseling, and guidance on behavioral problems. They also provide senior and geriatric care to help pets live full and healthy lives.
  • **Advanced Diagnostics:** The clinic stays current with advancements in veterinary medicine, offering digital X-ray services, ultrasound, eye-pressure readings, and heart monitoring. They also perform comprehensive blood tests to aid in diagnosing various conditions.

  • **Illness, Injury, and Disease Management:** They provide comprehensive care for a wide array of health issues, including digestive disorders, skin and ear problems, allergies, arthritis, and cancer treatments, working closely with owners to develop effective treatment plans.

This service is invaluable for livestock owners, particularly for procedures that are challenging to perform in a clinic setting.
  • **Hoof Trimming:** As exemplified by Dr. Annie Ryan's exceptional service, they provide professional hoof trimming for various farm animals, including mini Highland cows, mini donkeys, and mini fainting goats.
  • **General Livestock Care:** This encompasses health checks, vaccinations, and treatment for a variety of livestock species.
This dual focus on both companion animals and large animals demonstrates their versatility and commitment to serving the entire animal community in the region.

The features that consistently receive high praise revolve around the individual veterinarians' dedication and expertise. Dr. Annie Ryan is described as "absolutely amazing," with clients noting her genuine care for patients and her thorough explanations. Her willingness to go "above and beyond," such as painting hooves for fun or trimming additional animals without being asked, exemplifies her commitment to client satisfaction and animal welfare. Dr. Charlie McCully is also consistently highlighted as "equally as great," reinforcing the clinic's reputation for having skilled and compassionate doctors. Many clients are so satisfied that they "drive 45 minutes one way for appointments for our pups," emphasizing the clinic's perceived value and the trust they inspire.

However, it is important to acknowledge that like any healthcare provider, experiences can vary. The provided review details a concerning instance where a dog underwent an exploratory surgery that was deemed unnecessary by the owner, leading to significant financial burden and continued health issues. This particular account also expresses a preference for specific doctors, indicating that while the clinic generally has a strong reputation, individual experiences and preferences for veterinarians may differ. It suggests that while the overall care is highly rated, specific outcomes can be complex and challenging.

While specific current promotional details are not extensively provided, the consistent positive testimonials for specific veterinarians and the overall clinic reputation serve as powerful word-of-mouth promotion. The clinic's commitment to personalized care, thorough explanations, and responsiveness to client needs, as seen in calling the vet when a dog was sick and getting an immediate appointment, forms a strong foundation for client loyalty and referrals. Their ability to cater to both small animals and livestock also expands their reach and appeal within the community. The fact that they have multiple experienced veterinarians, including Dr. Alan M. McCully (a second-generation veterinarian in practice since 1979) and Dr. Maggie Eadie, further strengthens their expertise and availability.

Marshall County Veterinary Clinic is readily accessible at 1445 IL-17, Lacon, IL 61540, USA. They can be contacted by phone at (309) 246-2755 or via mobile at +1 309-246-2755. Their clinic hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. They also emphasize that their veterinarians are available to their established clients for emergencies during regular business hours, with after-hours emergency care typically referred to local emergency clinics. This ensures that clients have access to care when they need it most.

Took my puppy in Thursday March 13th to be neutered. Everything went great (so I tho) until Friday night into Saturday morning my dog started to puke. Boiled some chicken and rice - he seemed to be doing better Saturday. Chopped it up to pain meds. Until Wednesday night into Thursday morning my dog again started to puke- with what sounded like him choking. Called the vet, they got us in. To tell me he needed to have Xray (ok great let’s check it out) comes back to the room to tell me his belly is full of things he shouldn’t have ate . We can do a therapy to see if he passed them or surgery. That if the we choose the therapy it will prob result in surgery anyhow. We said well I guess let’s do surgery. They take him back prepare him for surgery and my dog has nothing but food and a couple pebbles (that he prob could have passed) and his intestines was very angry (which yours would be to if you puked as much as he did) so nope nothing he ate and was opened for no reason. Still no reason for the choking/cough puke. Fast forward to today- my 2nd dog is now making the same noise (coughing) so I’m assume my dog caught Kennel cough when being neutered and has now spread it to my other dog! But now he gets to suffer worst- because he is coughing with stitches- when he should have never been cut open! $1600.00 later for me to figure out what’s wrong with my dog myself- an now he’s absolutely miserable. I started going to this vet- because I loved how awesome Dr Charle was- unfortunately the last couple times I’ve had girl drs and really haven’t been impressed. We will be finding a new vet.

I brought in my furbaby for a checkup and an evaluation for some issues my baby was having . Sadly , it was discovered that his health was seriously jeopardized and I had to send him over the Rainbow Bridge. The Doctor and staff were so compassionate and did not try to pressure me in surgeries or treatments that would not give him the quality of life . They gave us time to say our goodbyes and on the way out, heartfelt condolences. Im very grateful to all the staff during this heartbreaking moment . Your kindness and compassion truly shows . Thank you for all you did for Jay Jay.
