I'd give negative stars if possible. If you care about your pets well-being in the slightest, do not go to these uncaring, rude and awful people. I called crying because I accidentally hurt my cat. I was and still am devastated and I feel terrible for it. When one of the girls at the front desk brought me back she informed me that her and her co-workers "got a good chuckle out of what happened", when I hung up the phone. Whether or not they were laughing at me for feeling terrible for hurting my cat and crying or the awful thing that accidentally happened to him... I didn't find humor in any of it.

Malta Veterinary Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Malta Veterinary Hospital, your local Pet Hospital in Malta, Illinois. We aim to provide essential veterinary services to our community.
Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Malta Veterinary Hospital appear to vary. One customer reported a negative experience, citing uncaring and rude behavior from some staff members. This individual expressed significant distress regarding the handling of their call concerning an injured cat.
In contrast, another customer shared a positive experience regarding end-of-life care for their dog. They noted the hospital's ability to accommodate their needs quickly, describing the staff involved in the euthanasia process as professional and courteous. This customer also mentioned that Malta Veterinary Hospital utilizes St Francis Pet Cemetery for their crematory services, with their pet's remains being returned in approximately ten days.
It's worth noting that the same customer who reported a positive experience with euthanasia observed that while the staff's tone might be perceived as "standard," they do believe the staff cares about the animals.

Mar 30, 2025 · Rachel KozinWe called to have our dog put down, they got us in within the hour, professional and courteous. Staff can be a bit standard tone but they care. Had our girl back in about 10 days- they go through St Francis Pet Cemetery for their crematory services.
Aug 14, 2024 · Emma ErnstFirst I would like to say I hate leaving bad reviews, but when it concerns our dogs it’s different. We took two of our dogs here a couple weeks ago. I have 4 main problems with them. 1) super rude to talk to and tried to charge my wife a fee to reschedule the appointment for our other dog even though it was 72 hours in advance. We ended up canceling it because of our experience with our first 2 dogs. 2) I refuse to go to a vet that brings you back to an exam room then takes the dogs out of the room to give them shots. Then when they come back they have their tails between their legs and are scared. My problem with this is we are new clients, we do not have trust established with you and these pups are our babies. I have never had a vet take our dogs out of the exam room to give them shots. 3) We come from Nashville which is notoriously expensive. Our yearly booster shots, heartworm test, and heartworm meds cost double what they did in Nashville. My wife had to ask for a receipt and cost break down. They wouldn’t tell her how much it was going to be even though she asked before the appointment. 4) the fact they tried to charge us a fee to reschedule our 2nd appointment even though they had plenty of notice and never mentioned a fee for rescheduling or cancelling when making the appointment is kind of shady. We didn’t sign anything agreeing to a fee either. Overall, I would avoid this vet office. The front desk people are rude and the vet techs are also kind rude. Highly overpriced considering we went to the one in Rochelle and it was 1/2 the cost it was here for the same shots and all per dog. It’s also sketchy how they operate. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Aug 31, 2024 · Wally PorterWe love Malta vet. Super friendly. Quick appointments and straight to the point. We've been taking our pets here for 20 years. It was the current vets father when we started going there. Now it's the original vets son and they've been fantastic.
Apr 30, 2024 · Nancy BradloThis place is absolutely unprofessional and unhelpful. Today I caught these people in a straight up lie. I needed to find an accredited USDA vet for international travel to write a health certificate and was recommended by my own vet in town to call this place. After 3 days of no real answers from here after I called I was simply told their doctor/staff was too busy and appointments were scheduled months out in advance. No problem so far altho I was a bit disappointed that a very simple procedure would take so long and asked to make an appointment. Then I was put on hold so that the person could talk with the doctor and then she comes back and tells me that they just can’t do it because no one was available to do it. So then I asked for clarification if someone is actually available and she said an appointment would have to be made. First lie. Again, I asked if I could make an appointment was put on hold and then she came back and just said no they just won’t do it because I’m not a regular client and it’s just too much work. 2nd lie. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. It is not that difficult and involves simple paperwork only. My dogs are currently up-to-date at my normal vet and these people simply just don’t want to be bothered by people who are not their regular clients. It’s really a shame because another local vet hospital named Bethany Animal Hospital recommended these people at Malta but they clearly had no interest to be helpful whatsoever. The woman that I spoke to on the phone was very disingenuous and it was like pulling teeth to get an answer from her. 1 star. If their service and healthcare to animals is anything like their attitudes then you should take your animals somewhere else.
