Main Line Veterinary Specialists

I needed time to have my cat seen by a cardiologist for evaluation of a murmur and abnormal blood work that indicated cardiac issues. My vet recommended another vet specialty hospital on the Main Line that I had had terrible experiences with previous cats.The vet suggested Main Line Veterinary Specialty as an alternative provider. I am so glad I went there. Dr. Simon Dennis was amazing. He explained the issue throughly. He had a great video graphic that he used during the explanation of his findings. While the diagnosis confirmed what my primary vet suspected, we are reassured that the heart condition is currently mild and will hopefully progress slowly since our cat is only 7 years old. We have a plan of care with recommended follow-up in a year to check if there is any progression of damage. We were given through signs to watch for should our cat start to have problems. He sent a detailed report via email as promised since the workup was time sensitive for clearence for my cat to undergo anesthesia for a minor oral procedure. My primary vet even commented on the comprehensive report provided by Dr. Dennis. The costs were exactly as quoted. The practice was very clean and the staff was friendly. They all seemed to enjoy working with the pets and pet parents. I would highly recommend Main Line Veterinary Specialist if your dog or cat needs cardiology care.

Dr. Dennis and his team were absolutely wonderful! My vet heard a heart murmur in my cat and referred me to mainline. It was well worth the hour drive! They were able to get me in a month before other places I called and were always so responsive. Luckily, everything was fine with my cat. Dr. Dennis did a great job explaining everything about his heart. And was very reassuring. I have no doubt that if something was wrong with my cat that Dr. Dennis would have the best plan laid out. So grateful I went to see them and i think buddy didn’t mind too much!

All the staff at Main Line Veterinary Specialists are wonderful. All the vet techs are super friendly, and explain everything in detail, and were able to fully answer any questions I had. We actually went to this hospital because of Dr. Mehler. He had done a knee surgery on my dog years prior at a different hospital, and was wonderful. So when my dog needed surgery on the other leg, we followed him to this hospital. He is the absolute best at what he does. He explains everything thoroughly, and makes sure you understand everything. He is patient, and kind. After my dog's surgery once she was home, I had a concern, and was actually a little panicked. I contacted the hospital and Dr. Mehler himself contacted me shortly after and talked to me and explained everything, again in detail, to make sure I understood that everything was OK, everything had gone well. He then told me to reach out to him again if I was nervous, or had any more questions. He is truly the best at what he does. I fully trust that when my dog is in his care, she is 100 percent safe and in the best possible hands. I highly recommend this hospital, this team, and Dr. Mehler.

Dr Dennis saved my dog's life! She came in with congestive heart failure from a mitral valve defect. At the age of 11 she seemed like she was on her way out. He did a thorough examination, including bloodwork and echocardiogram, then spent a lot of time with me, answering all of my questions patiently and compassionately. He adjusted her meds and within a week she was like a puppy again! We know we won't have her forever, but we're so happy that her quality of life has improved so much. Dr. Dennis is great and I recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone whose pet needs this care. If I were just reviewing just him I'd give 5 stars, but the office staff was slow to help and unfriendly. When you're stressed about your pet it'd be nice to have the first people you see in the office treating you kindly. And this is kind of weird, but the dingy office smelled of chemicals (it reminded me of high school anatomy lab). Also be forewarned : it did set us back about $1000, though it was worth it to us for our sweet fur baby.

Dr. Dennis is extremely knowledgeable yet clearly explained our dog's heart disease to us. Everyone on staff was wonderful too. We were so fortunate to have been referred to him.
