We have a very old dog (15 years old) who has had back and neurological issues his whole life. Because of these issues, we have had to take a holistic approach to his health and well-being. The money we have spent taking this holistic approach!! He currently is on much needed pain meds for arthritis. The new vet here out of the blue refused to refill his pain management prescription requiring us to make an unnecessary appointment before refilling it. This despite our dog having been seen there with a full set of labs completed within the last 6 mos. And despite the fact that they had been refilling his prescription for several months since our last visit with no problem-- just out of the blue decided not to. This withholding of care (and lack of compassion) put us in quite a bind, as our dog doesn't travel well and really needs these pain meds. We were forced to immediately switch to a more reliable, holistic animal practice. I can't do business with a practice who would withhold care/meds for no reason without any notice.

Welcome to Lucky Pet Animal Hospital

Lucky Pet Animal Hospital is located at 21 Commercial Dr, Berwick, ME 03901, USA. As a local pet hospital within the broader platform category, it aims to provide veterinary care for pets in the Berwick, Maine area. However, recent customer reviews available online present a concerning perspective on the hospital's current practices and service quality, particularly following a change in ownership or management that transitioned the practice to a corporate model.

Due to the nature of the provided reviews, offering specific details about the current environment of Lucky Pet Animal Hospital is challenging. One long-term customer noted a change in the atmosphere and the presence of "new and very unprofessional looking staff" after the hospital became corporate. This suggests a potential shift in the clinic's culture and the professionalism of its team. The increased wait times reported also indicate a possible decline in operational efficiency or an overbooking of appointments. Without more objective information, it is difficult to accurately describe the current environment beyond these observations from customer experiences.

Based on the information provided in the negative customer reviews, there are significant concerns raised about the services and approach of Lucky Pet Animal Hospital. These concerns include:

  • Prescription refill issues: One reviewer recounts an instance where a long-standing prescription for a 15-year-old dog's pain medication was unexpectedly refused, requiring an unnecessary appointment despite recent lab work. This action was perceived as a withholding of necessary care and a lack of compassion for a senior animal with mobility issues.
  • Perceived pressure to purchase unnecessary services and products: A long-term customer felt that the clinic was prioritizing sales of services, foods, and medications over the genuine care of the animals. This included instances of a staff member aggressively pushing for an expensive arthritis shot for a dog that did not have arthritis.
  • Potential for misdiagnosis or incorrect interpretation of medical information: The same long-term customer reported that a doctor at Lucky Pet incorrectly read their dog's blood work, leading to a false diagnosis of elevated blood levels, which was later contradicted by a new veterinarian.
  • Administration of inappropriate treatments: The incident where a dog with a known chicken allergy was given a chicken-based treat by a staff member raises serious concerns about the staff's attention to patient records and basic animal safety.
  • Deterioration of service quality after corporate transition: A recurring theme is the negative impact of the hospital becoming corporate, leading to a perceived decline in staff professionalism, increased wait times, and a shift in focus towards sales rather than patient care.

Given the strong negative sentiment expressed in the recent reviews, it is difficult to identify positive features of Lucky Pet Animal Hospital based solely on this information. The features that were appreciated by a long-term client, such as the caring staff under the previous owner Dr. Lucky (Brion Reagor), appear to have diminished following the corporate transition. The current features, as perceived by these reviewers, seem to include unprofessional staff, long wait times, and a potential prioritization of profit over patient well-being.

There is no promotional information available for Lucky Pet Animal Hospital in the provided data. Considering the recent negative feedback, it is unlikely that the reviews would highlight any positive promotions. Potential local users would be advised to exercise caution and consider the experiences shared by these pet owners when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care.

For local users in Berwick, Maine, the recent reviews of Lucky Pet Animal Hospital paint a concerning picture. The experiences shared by long-term clients suggest a significant decline in service quality and a shift in the hospital's approach to patient care following a corporate transition. Issues such as unexpected refusal of necessary medication refills, perceived pressure to undergo unnecessary treatments, potential for misdiagnosis, and instances of staff negligence regarding known allergies are serious red flags. These accounts indicate a potential lack of reliability and trustworthiness in the practice's current operations.

Considering the negative feedback regarding staff professionalism, long wait times, and a perceived focus on sales over patient care, local pet owners seeking a reliable and caring veterinary clinic may want to proceed with caution or consider alternative options. The experiences shared by these reviewers highlight potential risks associated with entrusting the health of their beloved pets to Lucky Pet Animal Hospital under its current management.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews available online for Lucky Pet Animal Hospital in Berwick, Maine, raise significant concerns regarding the quality of care, professionalism of staff, and overall trustworthiness of the practice following a corporate transition. Issues related to prescription refills, potential for unnecessary treatments, possible misdiagnosis, and staff negligence have been reported by multiple long-term clients, leading them to seek veterinary care elsewhere. Local users are strongly advised to consider these recent experiences when making decisions about their pet's health and well-being.

Given the overwhelmingly negative recent feedback, it is not possible to recommend contacting Lucky Pet Animal Hospital based solely on this information. Local users are encouraged to research other veterinary practices in the Berwick, ME area and consider clinics with more positive and consistent reviews to ensure their pets receive reliable and compassionate care.

We have been going lucky pet for over 17 years. Brion Reagor (Dr. Lucky) was the owner and primary veterinarian there with his loving and caring staff of years. When Lucky Pet turned corporate everything changed. Whenever we would go in there would be new and very unprofessional looking staff. The wait times were so long and I felt like they were doing anything to sell their services, foods and meds. I couldn’t keep bringing my fragile almost 18 year old dog there to people that can’t be trusted. There really are too many things to list over the last year that forced me to move to a more stable, reliable and caring veterinary clinic. One being that gave my dog a treat that had chicken, which he is very allergic to. The aid tech was pretty much begging me to give my dog an arthritic shot that he would have to go back regularly to receive - he doesn’t have arthritis. The doctor was not reading his blood work correctly and said he had all these elevated blood levels - not correct according to our new vet….and the list goes on. Please save your time and money. I don’t usually leave reviews like this but after my long email chain with the practice manager I don’t want anyone to have to deal with them the way we have…

Valerie and all of the girls I encounter at front desk, along with the vets (this last visit was Dr Bliss) are extremely friendly and helpful. Don’t hesitate to take your furry loved one to LAH!!💗

I have an older fur baby that's really skittish and they took wonderful care of her. She did really well with the girls and Dr. Doug. The staff is sweet, helpful and really love working with our pets. They explained everything clearly. They were prompt and gave me all the time needed to discuss my dogs and their treatment. I wish I could find a PCM that was this good for me. ❤️ Highly recommend. Five paw rating from Copper and Michelle 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
