I have gone to this clinic for the past few years. I had an appointment recently for bloodwork for my pets. I arrived on time, was moved to an exam room, and waited and waited. Dr. Bender then told that my animals would be put under anesthesia to collect the blood samples, and that I would need to come back in several hours to get them. This was the first time I was told my pets would be under anesthesia to collect blood samples, and the first time I was told to come back later to pick them up. Dr. Bender said he could not attend to them during my appointed time as other patients were picking up orders at the front desk. I told Dr. Bender I was not comfortable leaving my pets for the day, that they have never been out under anesthesia before to collect blood samples, and that I didn’t understand why I could not wait for the other patients picking up orders to then proceed with my pets. Dr. Bender got shockingly mean during this exchange. I responded that I was not trying to be disrespectful and I understood that he had his way of doing things, but from my perspective I had made an appointment, left work to be there on time, and was now being told that my pets would not be seen then and that they would be put under anesthesia. Dr. Bender told me that was the way it was. It was a very uncomfortable, unpleasant interaction. I previously came here to support a local business and an older, individual doctor, hoping that would mean personal care for my pets. This exchange was negative enough to make me switch vets.

We've been going to Dr. Bender for years, he is the best vet ever! Calm, intelligent, involved and committed to caring for our animals. We left the area, but considered kidnapping Dr. Bender to take with us. (JK, Doc!) If you can get an appointment, your pets will be in the best hands!

Dr. Bender's practice is a rarity in the vet world. Now there are so many clinics with a rotating crew of vets and a focus on profits. But Dr. Bender's practice is an old fashioned single vet practice with the utmost care for animals, coupled with unparalleled experience and focus on the well being of your animal friend. He was the vet that my old pup Gordon had in the last few years of his life, and I'm so thankful he had such a caring vet help make him comfortable through it all. I can't recommend this clinic enough.

Dr. Bender was patient, knowledgeable and really great with our persnickety pup Milo! Edited to add: June has joined our family and Dr. Bender takes great care of them both.

Dr Bender took care of my yellow lab, Abby, until she passed at 13 years old. He now is taking care of our dogs Sally and Sage. Dr Bender is an excellent veterinarian and has provided absolutely wonderful care. So thankful to have found him and his private practice over a decade ago. He is so patient, thorough and takes his time, I can always make an appointment when a healthcare situation arises. His staff is also so friendly and helpful when I call with questions. Thank you Louisville Veterinary Clinic for all that you do to help the members of our family :).

Dr. Bender is an amazing resource in our community. He has taken great care of our family pets for the past 18 years! He is always open minded and offers a wealth of expertise in a way that is never pushy but comes from his heart and from many years of experience. Having moved away from Louisville for a chunk of time and used a variety of vets, I can honestly say I was thrilled when we returned to the area and found that Dr. Bender is still practicing. He guided us compassionately and patiently through critical times - not only with our cats, but also with our dogs. I will never bring my pets to anyone else as long as Dr Bender’s doors are open for service!
