Not gonna lie, I walked in there thinking I was going to be met with cold and callous staff and end up being told they have to whip up a batch of ‘cotton candy’ as with previous experiences with other vet offices. However, from beginning to end this staff was extremely kind and empathetic to all concerns, answering questions to the best of their knowledge and doing more than I thought they would. All while having a great disposition. Great communication as well. I can see why my SO chose you guys and gals as our go to Vet. If anyone asks for a good vet, you’ll be the only one I mention.

However, their experience at Island Pet Veterinary Hospital was a complete contrast. They were impressed by the staff's genuine kindness and empathy towards their concerns. The team took the time to answer their questions thoroughly and provided a level of care that exceeded their expectations, all while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude. Another deeply moving review comes from an out-of-town visitor who was on a camping trip when their 15-year-old dog became severely ill over a short period. Tragically, euthanasia was the only humane option. During this incredibly difficult time, the staff at Island Pet Veterinary Hospital demonstrated extraordinary support and kindness. Despite the family being new to the area and not established clients, the team treated them with the warmth and care one would expect from family. The reviewer specifically noted how lovingly the entire process was handled, making a heartbreaking situation slightly more bearable. Their gratitude for the compassionate care extended beyond the visit, as the hospital sent a sympathy card after they returned home. May 06, 2025 · AlanMy experience with Island Pets in Carteret County is nothing short of incredible. We were on a camping trip from out of town and our 15 year old dog became extremely ill over a 12 hour period and unfortunately our only option was to have him euthanized. It was extremely heartbreaking for us but the staff were extremely supportive and kind and handled the entire process so lovingly. They did not know us but treated us like we were part of their family. It made a horrible situation a little more bearable. I am so grateful for them and the care they gave us and our dog. They sent us a sympathy card after we arrived back home. If I lived in the area they would become our new vet! I wouldn’t recommend anyone else.
Apr 14, 2025 · Deborah Jacques _ Staff - JoynerESI had an appointment at 3pm for a blood draw and a microchip scan (FAVN testing) and I waited for 30 minutes with an anxious dog before she was ever taken back. 45 minutes in total for a 5-10 minute service. No apologies for the delay or explanation for the wait. When I was finally seen, the tech was immediately unfriendly and rude. I was also asked for documents that I was not informed that I would need prior to the appointment. I’ve previously had great experiences here and have recommended this vet to others, but overall very displeased with my last visit.
Apr 17, 2025 · Samantha BoltonLove Dr. Cox and the staff at Island Pet Vet! We have gone there for several years and they were great with end of life care on my 19 year old chihuahua, and have been equally great with my new puppy's foot surgery. They are very compassionate and provide excellent care!
Apr 06, 2024 · Mel HartleyI was having a problem with a bleeding pad on my dog. It looked like his toe nail was irritating an existing abrasion. At 8 am, I left a message for his groomer to see if I could get him in, then again at 11:30. Never did receive a return call. I called Island Pet, explained the problem and was able to get him in in 2 hours. I knew the tech was going to see him, which was fine, but she did a full nail clip and consulted with the vet there. I could never think of ever taking him to any other vet in town.... By far, the best
