Welcome to Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond
Welcome to the Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond, a Pet Hospital located at 9764 Gayton Rd, Richmond, VA 23238, USA. Our philosophy centers on providing comprehensive care for your pets by integrating both holistic and conventional veterinary medicine. We aim to offer a balanced approach to pet health, considering all aspects of well-being. As with any service, customer experiences can vary, and the provided reviews offer a glimpse into individual perspectives.
Our Environment: Blending Traditional and Holistic Approaches
The environment at the Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond likely reflects its integrative approach, aiming to be both medically sound and comfortable for pets. While specific details about the clinic's ambiance are not available in the provided reviews, one might expect a setting that accommodates various treatment modalities, potentially including spaces for acupuncture or herbal consultations alongside standard examination rooms. The focus is likely on creating a healing environment that respects both traditional and alternative therapies. However, one reviewer noted an expectation of "holistic care" but still perceived a "push on Vax" for their pup, suggesting that while holistic options are available, conventional recommendations are also part of their practice.
Our Services: Integrating Holistic and Conventional Veterinary Medicine
As an "Integrative Veterinary Center," the services offered likely encompass a blend of both conventional and holistic veterinary practices. Based on the name and the reviews, you might expect services such as:
- Conventional Veterinary Medicine: Including standard medical examinations, vaccinations, diagnostics, and treatments. The mention of a "push on Vax" indicates that vaccinations are part of their conventional offerings.
- Holistic Therapies: Potentially including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, and other alternative or complementary therapies. The reviewer who chose this vet "for the holistic care" confirms that these options are intended to be part of their services.
- General Wellness Care: Routine check-ups and preventative care, potentially incorporating both conventional and holistic approaches to maintain your pet's health.
One updated review expressed disappointment, stating the reviewer felt "totally ignored, rushed, and my concern dismissed by the doctor," who was described as "a little short and snippy." This suggests that while the center aims to provide comprehensive care, individual experiences with the delivery of that care can vary. The reviewer did, however, give the doctor "the benefit of the doubt," indicating a willingness to consider it a potentially isolated incident.
Our Features: An Integrative Approach to Pet Health
The primary feature of the Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond is its commitment to combining holistic and conventional veterinary medicine. Other potential features, based on the limited reviews, include:
- Holistic Options: Offering alternative therapies alongside traditional treatments.
- Standard Veterinary Services: Providing conventional medical care such as vaccinations.
- Generally Positive Past Experiences (Implied): One reviewer mentioned they "usually like our vet visits," suggesting that previous experiences were satisfactory.
However, it is also important to acknowledge the negative feedback regarding feeling rushed, ignored, and having concerns dismissed during a more recent visit. This indicates that while the center aims for a positive experience, this is not always the case for every client.

Apr 17, 2025 · Lillie DolanUpdated review: I'm not sure how to express what happened. I usually like our vet visits and feel that my concerns are heard. This time I felt totally ignored, rushed, and my concern dismissed by the doctor. Dr was a little short and snippy. However, I'm giving the dr the befit of the doubt and maybe the dr was having moment.
Feb 27, 2025 · Princess Mark10:9My senior dog has been treated over the last few years by Dr. Jones. I have been a steady dog owner for 50+ years and have never experienced the level of care, professionalism, and treatment options I have received at this practice. Moreover, my assessment and instinct of my pet has been respected and validated. I’ve never been rushed and always feel genuinely listened to. I’m quite impressed with the staff, especially the vet tech, Rose, who has assisted through my dog’s visits and surgery. It’s wonderful to feel such confidence in a provider. I am grateful and happy to travel a distance to get such quality care.
Mar 20, 2024 · Pat OI’m not sure I’ve ever been happier to sing the praises of a business than I am as I currently write this review. The difference that IVC has made in my dog’s - and therefore my - life is night to day. I initially brought my girl to see Dr. Lord for acupuncture, for some pain. More problematically, my dog was frightened half to death, of anything & everything. We’d been living next to violent & addicted neighbors w dangerous dogs for 2.5 years, & we’d all been attacked multiple times a day, daily: you couldn’t go out the back door without it happening. Dr. Lord mentioned that IVC offered canine massage, & we thought that might be a better idea than the acupuncture, which my dog wasn’t enjoying much. Gail, their massage therapist/physio-teacher, began a long process of healing. First she dealt with my dog’s pain. Then one day she suggested we build her confidence by asking her to put her front two paws on an inflated exercise ball (which strengthens the core, as well). I wasn’t sure it would work but I was game to try. Now, after several years of coming in every two months or so, my dog: *Squeaks w joy when we arrive at the clinic, dances in the door and plonks her butt onto the scale, and the moment she sees Gail, covers her with kisses. Today she didn’t want to leave with me 😂😂😂- and normally she’s my shadow, and not fond at all of medical appointments. *Can and does happily balance atop TWO exercise balls simultaneously (o to be a quadriped). Her core is so strong, which has been great for her back issues; and working/playing on the balls has helped her rebuild the confidence the dog attacks took away. She’ll always be a shy dog, but she learned to do something really challenging and she liked doing it. The creative and thoughtful healing, the safe and relaxed office space, the delicious treats available: I would be grateful to find such a place for myself, and I am so glad that one is available for our animals, who all deserve the world.
Nov 11, 2024 · Alexandra ScottSeems like most Vet clinics have turned into primarily money making ventures. I became exasperated when my dogs were treated as just another number with our local vet. I feel like they abused what was a sacred contract between us when they failed to take appropriate care of my pets. After my small dog began having severe seizures (the local vet clinic couldn't have cared less and wanted an additional fee for "squeezing her in to evaluate her"), I decided something different needed to happen. I'm happy to say I found IVC. I feel like that sacred contract has been restored. Every single person who works there cares about the well-being of my Fur Babies. The front desk staff is the most professional I've ever encountered and the vets are prepared to offer holistic options. I gratefully and happily drive an hour and a half each way so my dogs can get cared for by people who actually care about us.
