Indian Prairie Animal Hospital

😭😭😭 On December 18, 2024 we went to Indian Prairie Animal Hospital with our lovely guinea pig, the diagnosis was wrong, and our lovely guinea pig died!!! 😭 . On December 18 the veterinarian said that our guinea pig lost the appetite because he needed vitamin C and he put a vitamin C injection, he said that he needs a new injection on December 23 and gave us an appointment. Our guinea pig did not improve and we came back on December 20 and after the vet made RX the diagnosis was GI stasis. On Saturday December 21 we went to a Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital and our guinea pig was hospitalized. He died on December 23. In few words the diagnosis of the veterinarian in Prairie December 18 was wrong!!! And our lovely guinea pig died. We miss him a lot! We are devastated. We did not celebrate Christmas because we are in mourning. On December 23 at morning Indian Prairie Animal Hospital called to confirm the appointment and I notified them that the diagnosis on December 18 was wrong and my guinea pig died, I didn't even received an apology. We can not stop crying, we love him so much 😭 if you have a guinea pig please avoid Indian Prairie Animal Hospital, 1195 S Frontenac St, Aurora, Il. If you have a guinea pig and love him/her, please go to a vet that specializes in exotic animals only, in which case the care is better and the cost is better. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Dr. Tang is beyond informative & is loved by Mr. Handsome. She explains everything in detail about what & how it is done. She is the absolute best avian vet that I've met in my life.

Dr. Tang did an exceptional job caring for our Leopard Gecko. Finding a skilled exotic vet in the Western Suburbs can be challenging, so we're fortunate to have someone so knowledgeable and thorough. She identified an issue that could easily have gone unnoticed, and her expertise made all the difference. Highly recommend!

Edited from 5 stars, down to 3. We take our bird in every 6 months for a check up, and then again every 3 months for a nail trim. The people who do the check up are absolutely great, but those who are doing the nail trim have been doing worse and worse every time. The little guy gets home and only has half his nails trimmed, and this time there were pieces of nail dangling off ready to get caught on anything he walks on. Our bird gets super car sick and it is 30-45 mins to drive out to the vet clinic, so it is quite the stressful ordeal for our pet.

This was my first time here. Also, a first time being to an animal hospital that takes exotic pets! Upon walking in the ladies up front were very nice and friendly. The waiting room and my patient room were very clean. I only waited a few minutes to see the doctor. Dr. Benson and his assistant were very helpful. Dr.Benson took over 20 minutes to sit with me and was genuinely concerned with what I had to ask. He was very knowledgeable in everything about the baby bearded dragon I brought in.He took a good look at him. I will be back in 6 months for his checkup. Overall, a wonderful facility with happy and knowledgeable staff. This was a great experience for me and my exotic pet. I left knowing exactly what I had to do and wasn’t pressured into anything extra. Such great people, thank you!
