my cat Beric was a beautiful one-eyed 9 month old baby and the sweetest cat ive ever known. i brought him into honegger after we brought him home for routine shots, as well as to check on a sneeze he had. we were given antibiotics and a follow up appointment for two weeks later. this continued for six whole weeks, with no tests being run that i asked for. his vitals were failing, his weight was crashing, and the situation was getting dire. but i was not informed of anything being wrong, i was told my baby was on the up and up. one fateful morning, he came crawling to me and my fiancee wheezing and foaming at the mouth. after an emergency visit to a different vet, it was uncovered that beric had FIP this whole time, and records sent to that vet showed how on the back burner my cat really was. while FIP is terminal and he was going to die anyway, the fact that there was no true care given haunts me to this day. the staff at the waynedale animal clinic gave him the upmost care and love that he had lacked from medical staff to that point. though i am grateful for the care we were ultimately able to give him, he could have been made so much more comfortable than he was. we only had beric for six weeks. today would have been his first birthday. i truly feel as though my cat was used as a money pit for this practice, just another in a rotating door of patients. my boy died slowly and in agony, with a chest cavity full of fluid. he was so small at the time of his euthanasia, he was almost not even heavy enough to cremate. do better.

I lost my perfectly healthy, beautiful, 8-month old Golden Retriever puppy Lily after taking her to be spayed at Honegger Animal Clinic. I had nothing but a horrible experience starting from a negligent mistake made during a routine spay, followed by completely inexcusable neglect in examining post procedure troubles, to the insensitive denial of error and lack of accountability after the death of my puppy, until proven at fault by lab tests determined by Purdue University Animal Hospital and KNIVES Specialty Hospital. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was how the situation was handled, and the lacked attempt to correct it. In no way is this to speak poorly of the staff at Honegger, whom are all very kind. However, more than anything I wish that I would have had the opportunity to read the review I am leaving before I decided to take my puppy Lily in for her spay at Honegger Animal Clinic. I feel that if I had not taken my puppy here I would still have her today. During her spay, Lily’s urinary tract was sutured shut instead of her reproductive system as intended. A mistake this negligent should never have occurred during a procedure this routine. What was even more upsetting was the lack of help and the matter in which Honegger handled Lily’s struggles in the days following the procedure. In the days after her surgery, I had noticed Lily was not recovering well and I could tell something didn’t seem right. After multiple calls into the clinic I felt I was not given much help or serious attention and was discouraged against bringing her in because of the clinic’s busy schedule. I realized things were not right and I was too scared for my puppy’s health. I brought her in anyway and insisted that she be looked at. When I was finally able to get Lily seen, she was not given thorough attention. We were rushed, no X-rays were given (which would have saved her life and identified Honegger’s sickening mistake) following continued and on-going issues after a serious surgery. Instead, she was just given an IV and pumped full of fluids, by the veterinarian whom had sutured her urinary tract shut, which Lily was unable to process because of the mistake, resulting in faster damage and suffering in the enlarged swelling of her kidneys. It is absolutely infuriating, heartbreaking, and sickening to know the suffering and pain Lily had to endure as a result of not only a negligent mistake during a routine surgery, but inexcusable, irresponsible, neglect, due to lack of care, patience, and attention. Lily and I put our trust in the veterinarian, and this vet clinic, for her well-being, and I felt we were abandoned. Later I followed my instinct and took Lily in to the emergency animal hospital where I hoped we could find help and serious attention (I cannot share enough great things about KNIVES Specialty Hospital). Heartbreakingly, at that point it was too late. And I lost the most pure, unconditionally loving pup I have ever been around, at 8-months old. All result of issues that should never have occurred in the first place, and were completely avoidable. Mistakes happen, but what is most upsetting is the way everything was handled, from the lack of help and care provided, capped off by the insensitive denial of any wrongdoing and the insistence that the mistake was due to Lily’s anatomy being abnormal, which was proved completely false by professional lab tests and examinations performed by both KNIVES and Purdue University Animal Hospital. Extremely saddening and avoidable experience.

Dr Ricks provided top not quality emergency care to my dog. She saved her from dying of complications that could have been prevented from her previous vet who misdiagnosed her 2 times and left her in complete misery. Dr Ricks displayed highly effective communication as well as a treatment plan that gave me hope and my dog life. She has completely recovered and healed now. If it wasn't for the staff at Honneger animal clinic my precious fur baby wouldn't be here today. Thank you all for your amazing care, compassion and treatment that allowed me to have many more years to come with my girl. Again. If you're In need of amazing modern day veterinarian care for your animal please go here. You and your pets will be in amazing care. Way to go! Bravo 💯❤️
