Thank you to the lovely staff here for saving my dog Ash. We had just come home from vacation and picked her up from boarding. She was her normal self and drank a ton of water, which is not abnormal for her after boarding and being excited to be home. This time it triggered her stomach to bloat and flip. We recognized the signs right away thanks to the movie, “Marly and Me.” The kids and I cried and hugged her goodbye, and my husband rushed her to Highland. She was in a pitiful state, hardly able to walk, and I did not think we’d see her again. From the moment she arrived, Ash was treated with the best care! Dr. Metz was able to give her life saving surgery. THANK YOU for giving my family more time with my girl.

Disappointing Experience I called ahead and scheduled an appointment at this pet emergency clinic. However, when I arrived, I ended up waiting for 2 hours after providing my information. Every time I asked about my pet's turn, I was told, "We don't know." The lack of communication and transparency was extremely frustrating. Eventually, I had no choice but to leave without my pet being seen. I expected better care and organization from an emergency clinic. Definitely not an experience I would recommend.

The staff at Highland treated me and my best girl with great care, compassion and knowledge. I was very distraught when I called, the staff was waiting for me when I arrived after hours and took my girl back immediately to assess her. They then quickly came up with a plan. It turned into a fight with a spider and a bad reaction afterwards. The staff answered all of my questions and made sure I knew what to expect, look out for and when to bring her back. They treated my dog with excellence! Definitely recommend to anyone I know!

I would strongly recommend ANY OTHER ER clinic if your animal needs urgent care. Highland’s overnight staff were incompetent, rude, and frankly seemed to not care about my puppy during our urgent care visit two Sundays ago. We visited Highland less than 24hrs after adopting our puppy due to a suspected UTI. The tech who checked us in was wonderful, however the rest of our visit was less than stellar. During our visit, our pup peed twice and pooped once, all of which i offered to clean up and dispose of myself. These offers were hastily declined, although we were charged a $14 “biohazard handling fee” because their techs disposed of his waste instead of me. The reason we originally visited was never addressed beyond the exam and urine extraction, in which we were only told that his bladder was “inflamed due to stress with no signs of a UTI”. Come to find out, his urine was too dilute to show anything on any tests. This was never told to us by Highland staff and was only brought to our attention by our new vets this past week. My main concern was his ears. After his exam and urine extraction, we told the tech and vet on staff that we were also concerned about his consistent ear itching. their reply was “oh yeah haha he has a ton of crud and possible mites in his ears, it will be way cheaper if you get them cleaned at a regular vet though.”. This careless reply was told to me multiple times, by three different staff members before I finally had to put my foot down and passively aggressively ask them to clean his ears. My request was finally granted and upon cleaning his ears, they discovered what they told us was “some type of bacterial infection” in both ears. They prescribed him antibiotic drops and told us to visit a regular vet in 10-14 days. 10 days go by and we have our first check up where we are told that it’s “funny” we were told bacterial infection, because both ears are FILLED with yeast and mites. Not only had highland neglected to tell us about our pups extremely diluted urine, but they also misdiagnosed and mistreated his extreme yeast/mite infection. Our new vet is also quite shocked and weary of putting him on any antibiotics now that he was wrongly put on antibiotics for 2 weeks at only 10 weeks old. I am extremely disappointed in Highland’s urgent care staff and feel that my pup was left to suffer to due gross incompetence and negligence on the end of Highland’s overnight staff.
