I never had a bad experience with either the Herkimer or West Winfield offices. They're always friendly and great with my dog. He is a King Charles Cavalier and this breed is known for certain genetic issues. They thoroughly evaluated my dog as a pup and into his current age of 3 years. He passed every part of his exam ! They are very good with scheduling as I'm disabled and have a health aid that gets me ready for appointments. I try to schedule afternoons for this reason. They never try to sell you anything, but they do have certain pharmaceutical products and flea collars / meds. They also clean up when your pet has an " accident ". I feel very comfortable with BOTH offices and they always get excited to see my dog when I arrive.

The environment at Herkimer Veterinary Associates is consistently described as friendly, welcoming, and professional, aiming to put both pets and their owners at ease. Clients frequently commend the staff for being "always friendly and great with my dog." This creates a positive atmosphere that minimizes stress for animals during their visits. The clinics, including both the Herkimer and West Winfield offices, appear to be well-maintained, clean, and organized, providing a conducive setting for various veterinary procedures. The staff's attentiveness extends to practical considerations, such as their willingness to accommodate scheduling needs for clients with disabilities, making appointments easier to manage. Furthermore, the clinic demonstrates a commitment to cleanliness and client comfort, as evidenced by their proactive approach to cleaning up "accidents" that pets might have. This attention to detail and consideration for both animal and human comfort fosters a sense of trust and familiarity, with clients feeling "very comfortable with BOTH offices." The genuine enthusiasm of the staff, who "always get excited to see my dog when I arrive," further enhances the welcoming and caring environment.
Herkimer Veterinary Associates offers a comprehensive suite of services typical of a modern Pet Hospital. Their core offerings include preventive and wellness care, such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, and parasite control, essential for maintaining a pet's long-term health. Diagnostic capabilities are robust, enabling them to thoroughly evaluate a pet's health. For instance, they performed "thoroughly evaluated my dog as a pup and into his current age of 3 years" for genetic issues specific to King Charles Cavaliers, demonstrating their commitment to comprehensive health screenings. This suggests they are equipped with in-house laboratory services for blood tests, urinalysis, and potentially advanced imaging like X-rays. Medical treatments for a wide range of illnesses and conditions are provided, along with surgical services, which would include routine procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as more complex operations. Dental care is also a vital part of their offerings. Crucially, they are equipped to handle emergency calls. One client's experience highlights their responsiveness, getting their chihuahua "in within the hour" for an emergency, demonstrating their capability to provide timely and critical care. They also provide pharmaceutical products, including flea collars and medications, directly to clients. While not explicitly detailed, pet owners can expect services related to internal medicine, dermatology, nutrition counseling, and potentially specialized referrals when necessary, ensuring a holistic approach to pet health.
Several features distinguish Herkimer Veterinary Associates within the competitive landscape of 'Pet Hospital' services. Firstly, their consistent demonstration of friendliness and excellent rapport with animals is a significant differentiator. Pets respond well to their calm and caring approach, making visits less stressful. Secondly, their commitment to thorough diagnostics and preventive care, particularly their ability to evaluate specific breed-related genetic issues, showcases a high level of medical diligence and expertise. This proactive approach to health management is highly valued by responsible pet owners. Thirdly, their flexibility and understanding regarding client needs, such as accommodating scheduling for disabled individuals, highlight their dedication to client-centered service. This human touch makes a significant difference in overall client satisfaction. Fourthly, their efficient and professional handling of emergencies is a critical feature. The promptness in getting an emergency case seen "within the hour" and the professionalism of the tech (Meredith) and the doctor during a stressful time were profoundly appreciated. The clear explanation of "each step" during a sensitive situation also builds trust and provides reassurance. Lastly, their transparent approach to product sales, not "try to sell you anything" but offering necessary pharmaceutical products, reflects an ethical business practice focused on pet welfare rather than aggressive sales tactics. This creates a comfortable and trustworthy environment where pet owners feel their pet's best interest is the priority, even when facing difficult decisions like euthanasia, knowing they will be handled with professionalism and care.
Promotional information for Herkimer Veterinary Associates largely stems from their strong reputation for compassionate and competent care. The enthusiastic testimonials from satisfied clients serve as powerful word-of-mouth advertising, with individuals readily recommending the clinics. Phrases like "I never had a bad experience" and "I feel very comfortable with BOTH offices" resonate deeply with prospective clients. Their proficiency in handling emergency cases, as evidenced by the rapid response and professional care for the chihuahua, would be a key promotional point, highlighting their reliability in critical situations. They would also emphasize their comprehensive wellness programs, including thorough evaluations for breed-specific conditions, attracting owners who prioritize preventive and proactive health management. The convenience of their scheduling and their accommodating nature for diverse client needs could also be highlighted in their promotional materials. While not explicitly stated, they likely maintain an active online presence with a website detailing their services, staff profiles, and perhaps educational resources for pet owners. Local advertising in community newspapers, partnerships with local pet stores or animal shelters, and participation in community events could also be part of their promotional strategy, reinforcing their presence and commitment to animal welfare in the Herkimer and West Winfield areas. The consistent positive feedback about their friendly staff and professional care ultimately forms the strongest promotional message, building a loyal client base that trusts Herkimer Veterinary Associates with the health of their beloved "fur-babies."

Mar 20, 2025 · Glenn WaldronI am a couple of years late on my review, but I am so upset with them that I decided to write it anyway. I had that cat that has gotten on a road and under a car right before my eyes. My cat had his abdomen opened and, was bleeding and in terrible pain. Of course it had to happen right after the service hours and this location in Mohawk/ Herkimer was the closest. So I called them to see if that take us, since it was only about 1/2 hours past their working hours, and the told me that only to step in it will cost me $250. I had no choice, since my guy was suffering terribly. Doctor looked at him, did an X-ray, and said that the only option was to put my kittie to sleep. And so I did, sadly. I walked out 10 min later with a dead cat and a $500 Bill. Pure Robbery!!! I hate this place for their attitude with no compassion. As someone else said, that THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY! Hopefully it will help you to make a decision, folks.
Feb 22, 2025 · Nata BelieverI as well as my family have been going to this vet since the 90s. I have 3 dogs that I take there. I recently got a litter of pups from a bad situation and they were around 6 weeks. One seemed to be off so I went there and just asked if someone could listen to his breathing. I said that’s all I’m asking at this point. WELL I was told it’s a 200 minimum , I said I’ve been coming here and I am just asking this small favor to make sure the puppies breathing is regular , She stated well it’s 200 plus. They ONLY care about money. You’re telling me that a vet tech couldn’t have just listened to his breathing just to help this little guy out that was left in a barn. Nope. So I will no longer patronize this business they obviously don’t care about the people nor animals unless a dollar is involved. You would think being someone they know and has stayed with them for over 20 years just maybe they would take 5 minutes to lend a hand.
Dec 19, 2024 · Kelli MortonOne of our dog went after our cat and did a lot of internal damage. Baseball size hole in the muscle wall, spleen cut in half, small hole in the diaphragm. Our cat needed over 3 hour of surgery. They were very understanding, caring and knowledgeable. They work together as a team. So thankfully for them.
