I couldn’t be more appreciative. They were the ONLY vet that would help me. My Billie Earl was hit by a car and they helped take his pain away. They were extremely empathetic, professional and treated me like family. Thank you again.

Welcome to Havelock Animal Hospital
Havelock Animal Hospital, located at 415 Miller Blvd, Havelock, NC 28532, USA, is a well-established "Pet Hospital" that has been serving the Havelock, MCAS Cherry Point, Newport, Morehead City, and New Bern communities since 1973. This long-standing presence in the community underscores its reputation as a trusted and reliable provider of veterinary care. The hospital is highly praised for its comprehensive range of services, its professional and empathetic staff, and its commitment to treating every pet and their owner with the utmost care and respect, often making them feel like family.
The environment at Havelock Animal Hospital is consistently described as one of empathy, professionalism, and warmth. Customer testimonials highlight a palpable sense of care from the moment clients engage with the hospital. One review specifically mentions that the staff "treated me like family" during a highly distressing situation involving a pet hit by a car. This indicates that beyond clinical competence, the hospital fosters a supportive and understanding atmosphere where owners feel heard and comforted during difficult times. The facility is equipped with an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, radiology suite, and surgery suite, implying a modern and well-organized clinical environment designed to support a wide array of veterinary procedures. The overall vibe is geared towards making both pets and their humans feel at ease, providing a clean and calm space even for those first-time visits for vaccinations.
Havelock Animal Hospital offers a wide and comprehensive range of veterinary services, solidifying its status as a full-service "Pet Hospital." Their offerings are designed to cover preventive care, diagnostic needs, surgical interventions, and ongoing medical management for pets throughout their lives. Key services provided include:
Wellness Care and Preventive Medicine: This forms the cornerstone of their practice, emphasizing routine examinations to maintain good health and detect potential issues early. This includes a variety of vaccinations for both puppies/kittens and adult pets, covering critical diseases such as rabies, canine distemper, parvovirus, feline leukemia, and more. They also conduct annual screenings like the 4DX Blood Parasite test for dogs (checking for Heartworm Disease, Erhlichiosis, Lyme Disease, and Anaplasmosis) and screenings for Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (F.I.V.), and Feline Heartworm Disease for cats. Nutritional guidance is also part of their preventive approach.
Routine Surgery: The hospital is well-equipped for a range of surgical procedures. This includes common surgeries like spaying and neutering, which are recommended for pets between 5 and 6 months of age to promote better health outcomes and prevent behavioral issues. They also perform other routine surgeries such as tumor/growth removal, cherry eye repair, and aural hematoma repair.
Laser Surgery: A modern feature of their surgical offerings, laser surgery provides benefits such as decreased post-operative pain due to sealed nerve endings, less swelling and bleeding from sealed small blood vessels, reduced risk of infection by sterilizing the area, and ultimately, faster recovery times for pets.
Radiology (X-rays): Utilizing X-rays, the hospital can diagnose a wide array of internal conditions, including broken bones, internal tumors, hip dysplasia, arthritis, collapsing trachea, heart disease, and foreign bodies. Digital X-rays are also available, and clients can even request a CD of their pet's X-rays.
Ultrasonography (Ultrasound): This non-invasive, pain-free procedure uses sound waves to examine a pet's internal organs (heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, bladder) and detect conditions like fluid, cysts, tumors, or abscesses. It is also used to confirm and monitor pregnancies. Their ultrasonographers are trained by Oncura Partners, allowing for real-time collaboration with board-certified radiologists for highly accurate image evaluation.
In-Clinic and Referral Laboratory Testing: The hospital boasts in-clinic laboratory machines for rapid assessment of major organ function (kidneys, liver, pancreas), as well as detection of infection, dehydration, and anemia. Pre-anesthetic blood chemistry profiles are highly recommended to ensure organ function before surgery, and annual bloodwork is advised for senior pets (7 years and older). For more specialized tests, they also utilize referral laboratories.
Dentistry: They provide comprehensive dental care, including prophylactic dental cleaning and polishing, as well as oral surgery. They emphasize the link between oral health and overall systemic health, recommending routine cleanings annually or twice yearly for older pets to prevent bacterial spread to vital organs and reduce tooth extractions.
Emergency Assistance: While their regular hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 AM to 5:45 PM (with a lunch break), and they are closed on weekends, they are capable of handling urgent situations during business hours. For after-hours emergencies, they provide referrals to nearby emergency pet hospitals like Emergency Pet Hospital of Craven-Carteret and Swansboro Animal Hospital and Trauma Center.
The standout feature of Havelock Animal Hospital, as consistently highlighted by client reviews, is the exceptional empathy and personal connection they establish with pet owners. The phrase "treated me like family" resonates deeply, especially in crisis situations like a pet being hit by a car. Their responsiveness in getting pets in quickly for urgent issues, their professionalism in procedures like tumor removal, and their ability to put owners' minds at ease are frequently praised. The "reasonable price" for procedures, combined with the high quality of care, is also a significant drawing point. The staff's gentleness and kindness in handling pets, even anxious ones, and their excellent customer service, including clear communication regarding quotes for future treatments, underscore their client-centric approach. The fact that an emergency situation for one pet was handled so empathetically that the owner switched all their pets' care to Havelock Animal Hospital speaks volumes about their impact.
In terms of promotional information, Havelock Animal Hospital leverages its long-standing reputation and strong community ties. Their website highlights their extensive range of services and commitment to providing full-service veterinary care. They emphasize their experienced team of doctors and staff, showcasing their dedication to animal well-being. For financial considerations, they accept pet insurance for unexpected accidents and illnesses and can work with treatment financing solutions like CareCredit and Scratchpay to help clients manage larger expenses. Furthermore, they have partnered with Vets First Choice to offer an online storefront, allowing clients to conveniently order medications, food, and other products, potentially saving time and money. The powerful testimonials from satisfied clients serve as invaluable word-of-mouth promotion, affirming their compassionate care and professional expertise. The clinic's commitment to personalized care and transparent communication about treatment plans and costs forms a continuous promotional message that resonates strongly with pet owners in the Havelock area.

Mar 03, 2025 · Kailey DubelOur sweet boy developed a rapid growing tumor. They got us in quickly, fixed him all up, and quoted a reasonable price for the procedures he needed. It was obvious he was in the best of hands and that put our minds at ease. We are so grateful to have him back to his old self!
Mar 16, 2025 · Rebecca EasterI can’t thank the team at Havelock Animal Hospital enough for the compassion and care they showed us during a very difficult time. My daughter’s ferret was experiencing seizures, and they got us in right away. Unfortunately he had to be put down 😭 Kim was AMAZING! She made an incredibly hard situation a little easier with her warmth and support and even made a paw print for my daughter. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a place that truly cares about their patients and their families!
Jan 31, 2025 · Tracy WellsEveryone is very friendly, especially the vet techs. The doctors listen to what you say and regard your knowledge about your fur babies. Your animals are handled with care and respect. Highly recommend! One note...they close for lunch, which proves they value their employees. My thoughts are, how can they value animals if they don't value people?
Feb 11, 2025 · Tam OMy Jake woke up Christmas morning and was throwing up and he couldn’t walk and stand up so I call the Vet Hospital and they told me to bring Jake in. They told me he had a Major Stroke and they told me he couldn’t get no better. The Dr. and the nurse stayed with me the whole time and we had to put him down, they were so sympathetic and concerned. After it was over Jake was in my arms when he passed away, we loved him so much. He was 12 years old. Thank you all so much at the Vet Animal Hospital for what you done for Jake and the Love you had our family for the passing of Jake.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
