I would give this office 10 stars if I could! We recently moved to Cincinnati but continue to bring our 5 dogs to Harrodsburg regularly to see Drs. Turcotte. They and their staff treat our pups exactly like I'd hope any professional would. They're kind, incredibly accommodating, and have saved us a few times with getting last-minute vaccines for boarding. I truly can't recommend this office and staff enough.

Harrodsburg Animal Hospital Introduce
Welcome to the introduction of Harrodsburg Animal Hospital, a "Pet Hospital" located at 1079 Beaumont Ave, Harrodsburg, KY 40330, USA. Committed to the health of your animal companions, they can be reached at (859) 734-5171 or their mobile number +1 859-734-5171.
Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Harrodsburg Animal Hospital appear to vary. One customer expressed immense satisfaction, stating they would give the office 10 stars if possible. This reviewer, who now lives in Cincinnati but continues to bring their five dogs to Harrodsburg, praised Drs. Turcotte and the staff for treating their pets exactly as they would hope. They highlighted the kindness and accommodating nature of the team, even mentioning instances where the clinic provided last-minute vaccines for boarding. This customer strongly recommends the office and staff, emphasizing their exceptional care.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience involving a reactive dog. This customer paid for an exam, informing the staff multiple times that their dog would likely need sedation. Despite this, they were told sedation couldn't be administered without an initial examination. Upon bringing the dog in, who was muzzled and geared for safety due to his reactivity, the staff primarily asked questions about his eating habits and behavior at home. They weighed him and identified him as overweight, which was the reason for the visit. A follow-up appointment was scheduled, and the owner purchased sedation medication that unfortunately did not work. At the second appointment, the staff reiterated that they couldn't proceed without further sedation, offering a $300 option for sedation, wake-up medication, and bloodwork to investigate the initial concern. The point of contention for this reviewer was the refusal to refund the nearly $60 exam fee, as they felt a proper examination was not conducted due to the dog's reactivity. The clinic reportedly stated that a visual exam and questioning constituted a service rendered, despite the owner's perspective that no actual examination addressing the reason for the visit occurred. The owner felt they should receive a refund for an exam they paid for but did not receive.
Given these mixed reviews, it's challenging to definitively describe the typical environment of Harrodsburg Animal Hospital. The positive review suggests a welcoming and accommodating atmosphere where staff are kind and professional. In contrast, the negative review, while focused on the handling of a reactive dog, doesn't provide specific details about the clinic's physical environment. It's reasonable to assume they have standard examination rooms, waiting areas, and necessary medical equipment expected of a "Pet Hospital." Cleanliness and organization are usually priorities in such facilities, but these aspects are not directly addressed in the provided feedback.
Based on the nature of a "Pet Hospital" and the services implied by the reviews, Harrodsburg Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services, which typically include:
- General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups for pets.
- Vaccinations: To protect against various diseases.
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: Addressing health concerns as they arise.
- Preventive Care: Such as parasite control and health counseling.
- Potentially Surgical Services: Depending on the clinic's capabilities.
- Management of Specific Conditions: As indicated by the overweight diagnosis.
- Potentially Boarding Vaccinations: As mentioned in the positive review.
The features of Harrodsburg Animal Hospital that can be gleaned from the reviews include:
- Kind and Accommodating Staff: Highlighted in the positive review.
- Experienced Veterinarians (Drs. Turcotte): Praised for their care.
- Willingness to Provide Last-Minute Services: As noted with the boarding vaccines.
- Protocols for Handling Reactive Animals: Although the execution was a point of contention in one review, they do address such cases.
- Diagnostic Capabilities: Including weight assessment.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available in the provided text. The positive review serves as an indirect endorsement of their general services. However, the differing experience with the reactive dog highlights the importance for pet owners to communicate clearly about their pet's specific needs and understand the clinic's policies, particularly regarding examinations and sedation for potentially challenging animals.
For local users in Harrodsburg, KY, Harrodsburg Animal Hospital appears to have a dedicated team that many pet owners appreciate for their kindness and professionalism. If you have a pet that is generally well-behaved and in need of routine or even some urgent care, the positive review suggests you can expect a good experience. However, if you have a reactive pet, it would be prudent to have a detailed discussion with the clinic about their protocols for handling such animals, especially regarding examinations and the use of sedation, to ensure a clear understanding of the process and associated costs.
To learn more about the specific services offered, their hours of operation, or to discuss your pet's individual needs, you can contact Harrodsburg Animal Hospital directly at (859) 734-5171. It would be advisable to inquire about their policies regarding examinations and sedation, particularly if your pet has a history of being reactive or anxious during veterinary visits.
In conclusion, Harrodsburg Animal Hospital is a "Pet Hospital" in Harrodsburg, KY, that has received positive feedback regarding the kindness and accommodation of its staff and veterinarians. However, one review indicates a challenging experience with a reactive dog concerning the initial examination and sedation. Local pet owners should consider these varying experiences when deciding on their pet care provider and may want to communicate proactively about any specific behavioral needs of their animals.

Sep 17, 2024 · Taylor O'ShaughnessyI paid the almost $60 for the exam for my dog, he's reactive and I told them more than 5 times that he'd probably need sedation, they said they couldn't do it without seeing him, I took him in and he barked at them and wouldn't let them near. I had him in a muzzle and other gear to protect everyone, they came in and just asked questions about him, how much he ate, how he was at home, stuff like that, they weighed him and told us he was overweight which is why we were there, so we set up another appointment for a few days later and I bought sedation meds, they didn't work and he still barked, they told us they still couldn't do anything, they gave me an option to pay $300 for sedation, meds to wake him up and bloodwork to just see if he has the issue we thought, which I fully understand, but they will not give me a refund on the almost $60 exam he didn't receive, they said because he got a visual exam they can't do it but all they did was ask some questions. They seen him. Seen how reactive he is. The meds they gave me to sedate him didn't work at all. At the second appointment all they did was look at him and tell us he was reactive. I think I should get a refund for the exam I paid for and never got.
Apr 21, 2025 · AlyssaThe staff and doctors at Harrodsburg Animal Hospital are the BEST! As a traveler in healthcare I visit so many places and the first thing I do is establish with a vet for my fur babies. The staff were so friendly and making an appointment was fast and easy. My dogs just love the doctors- a husband and wife team that obviously are highly skilled and committed to their patient’s well-being. I am so glad that the Drs Turcotte are here for us!
