The staff at Greenbrier always did an outstanding job of taking care of Andre from when he was a kitten up until he recently passed. There’s nowhere else I would have rather taken him. They were always accommodating and very attentive to his health needs. They were always so kind to Andre and helped to me give him a long, good life. May 08, 2025 · Ryan BakerMy mother in law used to bring Diesel our great dane/mastiff to Greenbrier prior to my husband and I meeting. Since we got married, we continued to bring Diesel because the practice was familiar with him. We have since brought our other dog and cat because we love it here. I've always had great service when I come to Greenbrier, but this week they went above and beyond. Diesel was approximately 12 years old and had a very long and happy life as a great dane. He was trucking along happily longer than any of us thought his breed would. A few weeks ago, we noticed a rapid decline in his behavior and also his physical capabilities. He could no longer lift himself, he continued to lose weight, and became completely incontinent. We made the uneasy decision to put him down as we could tell he was in so much pain. I called the office early before the vet got in, and they called me back ASAP. The clerical staff was so sweet and they were quick to get him in. When we arrived, they immediately had a room ready for him with a pillow and big blanket pad so he would be comfortable. Their entire staff was so comforting, they were gentle in explaining the process and were very patient with us taking our time saying goodbye. I could not recommend this vet enough. Diesel was our old man baby and you could truly tell they cared about the animals and what they do. You do not see a lot of kindness in delicate situations these days, but we truly felt cared for and that our baby was in great hands.
Feb 06, 2025 · Kelsey RI called on Saturday first thing to ask for a last minute euthanasia as my dog took a rapid decline. The vet was unwilling to take 30 minutes past their last appointment to end her suffering. As a previous client I was shocked at the lack of empathy shown. She suffered another 36 hours as I did not have the means to go an emergency facility. She did NOT go peacefully. I am truly appalled by the vet's attitude on duty 9/28/2024.
Sep 30, 2024 · Anna SpiveyLet me say, our previous older dog a couple years ago had to be put down and they used to be great! However, it was like after that moment everything changed. It was like they forgot we still had a dog under their care who was young. I had to remember to call and get her scheduled for her annual visits and we received no reminders. Their answer was I was in the reminder list I don’t know why we didn’t get anything? So the scheduling and triage went downhill from that moment. Our 3.5 year old golden retriever started acting like she had a stomach bug. We let her go for 1 day as it was common for her to get an upset belly sometimes. Well she wasn’t able to eat a day or two later without vomiting. When we first called, we were told they couldn’t get her in and they couldn’t see her sooner because all the slots were filled and they had lunch for 1 hour. They wouldn’t offer anything supportive over the phone even except something to make her not vomit and it wouldn’t take care of the nausea, so no we didn’t take that. I asked around and called a new vet, I had no choice our baby was becoming ill. I’m pretty sure the brand new vet we took her too stopped their lunch early to treat her! Mind you, we are NOT a well established patient with them at this time! At Greenbrier, the secretary who “triaged” could only recommend emergency vet, but they don’t open until 6pm because they expect your vet to be helpful and see them and at that time our goldie was still acting fine, just not able to eat anything without vomiting. We had to put her down because by the time the new vet saw her it was too late and she was fine and then she wasn’t. It has been devastating! I know it’s just an animal. But she was our family, you’re treating peoples animals who are part of their family. I often wonder what the outcomes would have been had they taken her in on the day I called. Fast forward I call to have her records emailed to us and had to leave a voicemail one time stating she was now deceased. No return call. I then called and told the secretary she was deceased again. It was like she didn’t hear me. So after she replied happily with we will get those records emailed to you (which we never received) I repeated myself and say I don’t think you understand we had to put her down. She then apologized 1 time. I said that I wanted to just say something for future patients so they don’t go through what we did. I said when a patients family calls you guys should prioritize sick visits. I know you all are busy. But we needed you and as her vet you all were not there for her. And because this I had to call an entirely new vet, and they got her in immediately. They tried but it was too late and we had to put her down. I said you all should find a way to make sick visits a priority and offer better care. On another occasion I needed to get her in as she had gotten stung by a bee and I had to pay a tele-vet to give us recommendations on dosing and medication for the bee sting! This business has just really declined in care these last recent years, and we had been going there with her since she was a puppy. We won’t be recommending or returning. Addendum: since I cannot reply to the owners comments…Yes I could not take the one appointment they offered. However, you seemed to have left out a few small details too. When you said you could give her the 2:40 appointment it was the following Monday. This was Wednesday when I had called and no you did not call me back. I called again Thursday and I could not make the one appointment time work. You would not as much as offer any treatment except 1 pill to stop her vomiting doing nothing for her nausea or underlying cause without seeing her as if this was a unestablished “patient.” When she was stung I called, and what seems to be the theme here, you were closed. So, yes I called an emergency vet line who treated and gave her recommendations for treatment over the phone. Point being you do not make an effort to treat your own established patients. You can explain it away however you’d like. I said what I said.
Mar 31, 2025 · Melody RamseyIf I could rate less than 1 star I would. Long story short, my 3 year old lab developed a paralyzing neurological disorder. The treatment we tried didn't work which we were aware it may not. 12 days after initial treatment he's back on the decline suffering unable to get up nor hold himself up. We made the tough decision to put him down in lew of spending thousands for an uncertain future. We called and left message Sunday December 1st to call us back ASAP so we may end his suffering. I called first thing this morning December 2nd and am told the doctors are not in yet well pass word along. My wife calls again at 930 and they won't take him and can't get him in until Thursday. I'm sorry my beloved pet is suffering and they wouldn't help us. We've been going to greenbrier for 10 years now until today. They are not compassionate in the least. I just hope others don't have to endure what we did today. We did find another vet closer that got us in within the hour now our boy can rest easy
