We love Great Bay! We have two pups who are regulars and don't dread it as we pull up to the office (a big deal for our older girl!). The women at the front desk are kind and patient and the vets are all fantastic. Would absolutely recommend to anyone new to the area!

Welcome to Great Bay Animal Hospital

Great Bay Animal Hospital, located at 31 Newmarket Rd, Durham, NH 03824, USA, functions as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" serving the local community and surrounding areas. As a pet hospital, it provides a variety of essential veterinary services and offers goods for sale, all geared towards promoting the health, well-being, and longevity of companion animals. This establishment aims to be a primary resource for pet owners seeking professional medical care for their beloved furry family members, encompassing everything from routine preventative care to addressing illnesses and injuries.

The environment at Great Bay Animal Hospital, based on customer feedback, evokes a mixed impression. On one hand, there's a positive portrayal, where the office atmosphere is perceived as welcoming, to the extent that even pets "don't dread it as we pull up to the office," which is a significant indicator of a comfortable and low-stress environment for animals. This suggests a clean, well-maintained facility with spaces designed to minimize anxiety for pets, possibly featuring separate waiting areas for different species or calming amenities. The front desk staff are described as "kind and patient," contributing to an overall pleasant initial experience for clients. On the other hand, a critical review highlights a deeply negative experience concerning the initial reception and handling of appointments. This suggests that while the physical space might be adequate, the human element of the environment, particularly at the front desk, can sometimes fall short of professional expectations. An ideal pet hospital environment should combine a clean, organized physical space with a consistently professional, friendly, and empathetic staff to ensure a positive experience for all visitors.

Great Bay Animal Hospital offers a range of services typical of a full-service "Pet Hospital." While an exhaustive list is not provided in the given information, common services would include routine wellness and preventative care, such as annual check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional counseling. Given the mention of "regulars" and dogs not dreading visits, these routine appointments are likely a significant part of their practice. Diagnostic services would also be integral, encompassing in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and imaging capabilities like digital radiography (X-rays) to aid in diagnosing various conditions. Surgical procedures, ranging from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries, are standard offerings at pet hospitals. Dental care, including cleanings and extractions, is also a crucial service for maintaining overall pet health. Furthermore, they would provide medical treatments for acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions. The positive reviews emphasizing "fantastic" vets imply that they offer competent medical advice and effective treatment plans for a variety of pet health concerns. Their ability to attract and retain "regulars" further suggests they provide consistent, reliable care.

Several features of Great Bay Animal Hospital can be discerned from the customer reviews, presenting a dual perspective. On the positive side, a key feature is the quality of the veterinary staff. The vets are consistently described as "all fantastic," indicating a high level of medical competence and a compassionate approach to patient care. This suggests that the veterinarians are skilled in diagnosis, treatment, and communication regarding pet health. Another positive feature is the calming environment for pets, where even anxious dogs feel comfortable during visits. This can be attributed to the staff's gentle handling and perhaps the clinic's thoughtful layout or use of calming techniques. The "kind and patient" demeanor of the front desk staff, as noted in a positive review, also contributes to a welcoming experience for many clients. For those new to the area, the hospital is "absolutely recommend," implying that they are adept at integrating new clients into their practice and providing comprehensive initial consultations.

However, a significant feature, highlighted by a negative review, is the inconsistency in client service and appointment management. The critical review points to a highly unprofessional interaction upon arrival, including a lack of greeting, a rude demeanor from a front desk employee (who was wearing headphones), and a critical error in appointment scheduling. The refusal to take accountability for the scheduling error and the inability to offer a viable solution (beyond sending the client home or rescheduling for another day) are major issues. This reveals a potential weakness in front-line customer service and internal communication processes. The phrase "taking no accountability for the actions of another employee and then doing nothing to try to keep a customer" underscores a lack of problem-solving and client retention strategies in this particular instance. This aspect suggests that while the medical care might be strong, the administrative and interpersonal aspects of the business can vary significantly, impacting the overall client experience and trust. The incident highlights the importance of consistent professionalism from all staff members, particularly those who are the first point of contact for clients.

Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not explicitly detail any specific discounts, package deals, or seasonal offers from Great Bay Animal Hospital. Like many pet hospitals, they likely rely on word-of-mouth referrals, positive online reviews (which, as seen, are mixed), and a reputation for quality care to attract and retain clients. Common promotions might include new client discounts, puppy or kitten wellness packages, senior pet health plans, or seasonal specials on vaccinations or dental cleanings. Given the strong positive feedback from some clients and the strong negative feedback from another, prospective clients might consider reaching out directly to inquire about their policies, services, and pricing. For the most current and accurate information on any available promotions, package deals, or payment options, local users are advised to contact Great Bay Animal Hospital directly. Their phone number is (603) 868-7387, and their mobile phone number is +1 603-868-7387. Direct communication would also allow potential clients to assess the current demeanor of the front desk staff and clarify any concerns they might have based on varied online reviews, ensuring a more informed decision about their pet's care provider.

DO NOT COME HERE !!!! Absolutely awful staff. We made an appointment Tuesday, with Finn, for Wednesday at 12:30, confirming it multiple times over the phone with not only me but with my husband as well, before ending the call. So I drive my dog 45 minutes away, on Wednesday (today), to what I assumed would be a great experience due to multiple reviews and word of mouth!? I truly could not be more disappointed in how we were treated upon arrival. We get there 10 minutes before our appointment, go inside, and when walking up to the desk the girl sitting there doesn’t even say hi, smile, nod, wave, nothing-she doesn’t even take out her headphones to have a respectable conversation with a new client. Just stares at me and asks what’s the name and why I’m here. I tell her my dogs name, that we’re new clients, and that I have an appointment at 12:30–she proceeds to tell me I do not. It has been scheduled for Thursday, at 12:30. I’m immediately confused and asked her how that could be and she presumes to tell me they don’t even make 12:30 appointments?? She was of absolutely no help, besides saying my only other option would be to drive home and come back at 5pm or to the Thursday appointment instead. Not only were we handled by an extremely unprofessional, insensitive person, how she handled the problem was extremely unacceptable. Accidents happen, for sure! But taking no accountability for the actions of another employee and then doing nothing to try to keep a customer is beyond me! Super grateful that I didn’t become a client here, couldn’t possibly trust my dog in the hands of disrespectful people like this. What a shame. Such a disgrace, truly should be ashamed of having that kind of a person being the first face of the business.

They are amazing. They listened to my concerns and took action. I went to them for a second opinion and then I stayed. I have two FIV + cats recently adopted and they have been so good to them. My previous vet missed things that they found right away. So now my babies are getting the care they need. I highly recommend, they are so caring and knowledgeable.

Took my pal Casper to have his ears checked/fixed. We had been to a previous vet which gave me 2 medicines that did absolutely nothing. After visiting great bay on the same day I could see a huge improvement. The staff was so helpful and caring and did a great job. The prices were reasonable and the medicine great bay gave me is working like a charm and making such a difference in caspers well being. A huge thanks to the whole crew !

We love Drs. Bramhall, Munis, MacGregor, and McKiernan, and all the staff at GBAH! All of the veterinarians we have seen have been so impressively smart, thorough, and attentive. I feel fortunate to have such a great practice that I can easily trust right here in town. Dr. Bramhall in particular went above and beyond recently, helping to work up and treat unexplained weight loss in my older dog. She took a lot of her own valuable time to try and get to the bottom of it, and help formulate a plan for treatment. The staff are great with both people (the hard part!) and animals (probably the easier part, ha!). They know exactly how to handle my dog, who is very fearful in that environment. Thank you GBAH for everything you do to serve the beloved pets in our community! We appreciate you.
