We have been going to Grant County Vets for awhile now! Even when it was Southwest Vet. Dr. Hannah and her staff are the most caring people we have ever met. Last year our boxer, Riley, got cancer in her front leg and had to be removed. They took wonderful care of her. Everybody loved Riley and Riley loved everyone too. Because of them, Riley was able to enjoy another year with us and everyone who loved her! This past August, her cancer came back and it was in her mouth, lungs and stomach. They helped us with the most difficult decision that our family ever had to make. They were very caring and helpful. The staff even got teary eyed as we sent Riley over the rainbow bridge! Definitely recommend!

Welcome to Grant County Veterinary Services
Grant County Veterinary Services, located at 1105 Beetown Rd, Lancaster, WI 53813, USA, operates as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing veterinary care for animals in the local community. The practice serves a broad spectrum of clients, catering to both small companion animals like dogs and cats, as well as large animals, which is common in agricultural areas like Grant County. This dual focus positions them as a versatile and essential resource for a wide range of pet owners and livestock producers in the region. Their contact numbers, (608) 723-2504 and +1 608-723-2504, ensure accessibility for inquiries and emergency situations.
The environment of Grant County Veterinary Services, as a mixed animal practice, is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of its patients. A typical veterinary hospital of this nature would feature separate waiting areas and examination rooms for different types of animals to minimize stress and ensure safety. For small animals, you would expect clean, well-equipped consultation rooms, a comfortable waiting area, and dedicated spaces for diagnostics such as X-rays and ultrasound, as well as a surgical suite. For large animals, the facility might include handling chutes, outdoor examination areas, and perhaps even stalls for short-term boarding or recovery post-procedure. While specific details about the internal layout are not publicly detailed, the fact that they handle both small and large animals suggests a facility that is robust and versatile enough to cater to the unique logistical and medical requirements of each. The focus of any reputable "Pet Hospital" is to provide a sterile, safe, and welcoming environment that facilitates efficient and compassionate care for all animals.
Grant County Veterinary Services offers an extensive array of services, reflecting its role as a full-service animal hospital. For companion animals, these services typically include routine preventative care such as wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite control, which are foundational for maintaining long-term health. Dental care, including cleanings and extractions, is also a crucial offering. The practice likely provides diagnostic services, utilizing in-house laboratory capabilities for blood work, urinalysis, and other immediate tests, along with imaging technologies like X-rays and potentially ultrasound for more in-depth internal examinations. Surgical services, ranging from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, would also be a key component. Beyond these, Grant County Veterinary Services would likely offer microchipping for permanent identification, nutritional counseling, and behavioral advice to help pet owners address common issues. For large animals, services would extend to herd health management, breeding soundness exams, obstetrics, and field services for on-farm visits, covering livestock such as cattle, sheep, goats, and horses. The breadth of services underscores their commitment to being a comprehensive care provider for the diverse animal population of Grant County.
The features of Grant County Veterinary Services are, to some extent, illuminated by the customer reviews. One significant feature, as evidenced by a positive review, is the compassionate and dedicated staff, particularly highlighting Dr. Hannah. The account of caring for a boxer with cancer, Riley, and providing support during difficult end-of-life decisions, speaks volumes about the empathy and professionalism of the team. This kind of personal, understanding approach is a highly valued characteristic in veterinary care, fostering trust and a strong bond between the veterinary team and pet owners. The continuity of care, mentioned by the client who has been attending the clinic since its days as Southwest Vet, suggests a long-standing presence and consistent quality of service within the community. The willingness of the staff to "get teary eyed" demonstrates a genuine emotional investment in their patients, which can be incredibly comforting for grieving families. This strong emotional connection and high level of care are certainly defining features of the practice.
However, it is also crucial to acknowledge that customer experiences can vary, and another review provides a contrasting perspective that highlights areas for improvement. This review raises concerns about communication, professionalism, and patient care, specifically citing an instance where a cat was allegedly left in a cage for an extended period without proper communication to the owner, leading to significant distress. Accusations of being called "crazy" and instances of being hung up on by the receptionist point to potential issues with client relations and respect. While one review showcases exceptional empathy and dedication, the other highlights significant lapses in customer service and potentially pet welfare. This suggests that while the veterinary medical care itself may be highly competent (as implied by Riley's extended life), there can be inconsistencies in the client-facing and communication aspects of the practice. For any "Pet Hospital," consistent, transparent, and respectful communication is paramount to maintaining client trust and ensuring a positive experience.
From a promotional standpoint, Grant County Veterinary Services could leverage its strong positive testimonials to emphasize its compassionate care, particularly in challenging situations like severe illness and end-of-life care. Highlighting Dr. Hannah's dedication and the positive experiences of long-term clients can build a strong reputation for medical excellence and empathy. They could promote their comprehensive range of services for both small and large animals, showcasing their versatility and ability to serve the entire community's veterinary needs. Information on preventative care packages, seasonal discounts for vaccinations or dental procedures, and educational outreach through workshops or online resources could also attract new clients. Given the critical feedback, addressing communication protocols and staff training in client relations would be beneficial. Publicly acknowledging their commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of client and patient care, perhaps by detailing steps taken to enhance communication and service consistency, could help mitigate negative perceptions and reinforce their dedication to providing the highest standard of care for all animals and their owners.

Oct 30, 2024 路 Bobbie LeyIf I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely the worst place to take a pet. I will never go here again. Left my cat in a cage for 12 hours after I specifically said I lived in town and could drop him off at any point. No one reached out to me and left him there until 8pm mind you after they close and did not communicate to me that they would be keeping him that late. Then I get called crazy for being worried sick for my pet after calling multiple times. Also telling my significant other that I鈥檓 crazy (super professional) Dr Hannah is disgraceful and so is the rest of the staff. Lost a customer for life! PS the receptionist has hung up on me multiple times. Not sure why the disrespect is so real here but go elsewhere PLEASE. Hope they can learn to respect the people that put the money in their pockets in the first place 馃檭
