The atmosphere at Gerber Small Animal Hospital is consistently portrayed as professional, welcoming, and deeply caring. Clients express a profound sense of trust in the doctors and staff, which is a testament to the positive environment fostered within the clinic. The sentiment that staff "cares for our furry family members" highlights an empathetic approach where pets are treated with genuine affection, much like their own. This nurturing environment extends to pet owners, particularly during stressful situations. The testimonial regarding an "unexpected emergency" vividly illustrates the clinic's ability to provide immediate support and a calming presence. Lori's ability to "calm me down on the phone" and the collective effort of Dr. Drapo, Erica, Cherie, and Emily in "dropping everything and helping" showcases a responsive and compassionate team dynamic. This supportive and reassuring atmosphere helps alleviate the anxiety often associated with veterinary visits, making the experience as comfortable as possible for both pets and their human companions. Gerber Small Animal Hospital offers a wide array of veterinary services designed to cover all aspects of a pet's health, from preventative care to complex medical treatments and emergency interventions. As a comprehensive pet hospital, their services include:
- Pet Wellness and Vaccination Programs: This is a cornerstone of their practice, focusing on proactive health management to prevent illnesses. This includes routine check-ups, vaccinations (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus, feline leukemia), parasite control, and general health screenings tailored to a pet's age and lifestyle.
- Animal Medical Services: For diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of health conditions. This includes internal medicine, managing chronic diseases, and addressing acute illnesses. Their ability to handle emergencies, as evidenced by a customer review, points to strong diagnostic and treatment capabilities for urgent medical cases.
- Pet Surgery: Including essential procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as other surgical interventions as needed. A full-service hospital typically has a well-equipped surgical suite and skilled veterinary surgeons.
- Pet Dental Cleanings and Treatment: To prevent and treat serious dental diseases, which are crucial for a pet's overall health. This would include dental examinations, professional cleanings, and extractions if necessary.
- Health Screening Tests: Such as blood work, urinalysis, and potentially other diagnostic tests to monitor a pet's internal health, detect issues early, and guide treatment plans.
- Nutritional Counseling: Providing guidance on appropriate diets and feeding practices to support a pet's health and manage specific conditions.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: The clinic's rapid response to an "unexpected emergency" demonstrates their capacity to prioritize and effectively manage critical situations. This service is invaluable for pet owners facing sudden health crises, potentially saving them the need to travel to a dedicated emergency facility.
- Pet Supplies: While not a primary service, the availability of some pet supplies can add convenience for clients.
The mention of "Dr. Drapo" as "the best" suggests a high level of expertise and trust across the veterinary team, not just with Dr. Gerber. This implies a consistent standard of excellent medical care throughout the hospital.
Gerber Small Animal Hospital's strong reputation is built upon several key features that consistently receive praise from its clients:
- Deep Trust and Honesty: The most prominent feature is the profound trust clients place in the doctors and staff. Statements like "Most importantly I TRUST the doctors and staff" and Dr. Gerber being "open and honest" are powerful indicators of their integrity and reliable advice. This is crucial for long-term client relationships, some spanning over 30 years.
- Exceptional Compassion and Care: The team's genuine care for "our furry family members" shines through in reviews. The specific examples of empathy during difficult times and the overall supportive attitude of the staff make the clinic a comforting place for both pets and their owners.
- Responsive Emergency and Urgent Care: The ability to get clients "in right away" for an "unexpected emergency" demonstrates a critical commitment to timely care. This responsiveness can be life-saving and significantly reduces stress for pet owners during crises.
- Experienced and Skilled Veterinarians: Dr. Gerber's long-standing expertise and the high praise for Dr. Drapo ("the best! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hands down!") underscore the medical proficiency available at the hospital. This blend of seasoned knowledge and newer, highly-regarded talent ensures comprehensive and effective treatment.
- Amazing and Supportive Staff: The repeated commendation for the "amazing" staff, including specific mentions of Lori, Erica, Cherie, and Emily, highlights a cohesive and professional team that contributes significantly to the positive client experience. Their ability to calm owners and provide efficient support is invaluable.
- Continuity of Care: The fact that families have been clients for "30+ years" and that a "new vet" (Dr. Drapo) is already garnering "great things" suggests a consistent standard of high-quality care across generations of veterinarians within the practice.
For local users in Niagara Falls, NY, the promotional message for Gerber Small Animal Hospital would strongly emphasize its legacy of trust, exceptional care, and reliability in all aspects of pet health.

Jul 03, 2024 · Katie E. CurtisThis morning I had a unexpected emergency. I called Gerber's and they got me in right away. Dr. Drapo, Erica, Cherie and Emily dropped everything and helped! Jun 12, 2024 · Caitlyn CI’ve been to A LOT of vets, for routine and emergency procedures. All of them prior besides OSU seem to price gauge and seem to care more about the green other than the animals. I truly believe many vets in this area are part of some sort of conglomerate and keep prices similar and attempt to crush those that do not comply. This vet, completely goes against that norm. This was my first experience with them, for teeth cleaning / removal along w a fat mass removal on my Beagle. They were 1/2 the price of other vets in area ($1,500-$2,000 compared to over $3,000). Not only that, a pet peeve of mine is vets requiring payment prior to treatment, which all in area do. DRIVES ME NUTS! It was refreshing to drop off my dog here and have them say, “we will call you when she’s ready!” And not pull out my credit card. Like it’s my dog, I’ll pay for it. Gerber gets it! When I went to get my Pup the bill was BELOW the LOW end of estimate!! I’ve also never had that. I always come in expecting to pay high end or over as I always have before. I have had an animal die on the table and they billed the high end!! Apparently the complete procedure was 100% complete and the animal died (w/o CPR) AND they apparently used everything they estimated on the high end. Ridiculous. Will Gerber always be below low end? No, of course not, things happen. But it is just so nice to see people caring about animals and not nickel and dimeing. Lastly, speaking of nickel and dimeing her nails were trimmed AND ears cleaned spotless! They didn’t call and ask to do that for the extra $15-$30 other vets charged. They just did it, free of charge! It’s just unheard of nowadays. All these extras, below budget, friendly, pay at pick up. They truly care for the customer and I can’t put into words how grateful and happy I am. Thank you!
Jul 25, 2024 · Steven TarnowskiBeen with Dr Drapo since McBrides. My 2 teenage cats passed within a year. Aslan Orange guy, Legolas grey & white. I have 1 left Boromir my black kitty. Not only is she wonderful & her Techs are great esp Erica but the sympathy card w/fur & paw prints was a wonderful addition. If you think the receptionist are rude who work w/sick animals & upset owners be a human being & understand there feelings also. Kindness does go a long way.
Aug 09, 2023 · Justine SmithWe have been with Gerber for over 15 years now and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Recently we had a horrible incident with our pug. Dr. Drapo, Mandarin, Lori, Erica, Kaitlyn, Cherie, Luann, EVERYONE were fantastic! It’s been a month and a half journey and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for them. The compassion, care, and knowledge was beyond words! My pup is doing great now. They were always there when we needed them and always got us in right away on any urgent basis. Again, I cannot thank them enough.
