I cannot recommend Dr. Hines more. A month ago I had to make the heartbreaking decision for my dog Muñeca to pass. She had certain special needs I was concerned about due to her history of being an untouched village street dog her first 7 years and being a dramatic lady in terms of all things medical. Before I even made the appointment as we were still trying a few last options with our vet, Dr. Hines was kind enough to talk me through what she could do to support a peaceful passing. Both in her communication before and after, and while she at our home she was so kind, empathetic, professional and it was clear to me she is using her expertise to make passings as peaceful as possible with attention to detail to make sure nothing is harder on the owner than it already is losing their beloved companion.

I could not recommend Dr. Hines enough! As our sweet Cupcake was going downhill quickly with kidney failure and was very anemic, I reached out to Dr. Hines because I knew I wanted Cupcake to pass peaceful in the comfort of her home. Dr. Hines responded very quickly, explained exactly what to expect and how she could support Cupcake and our family in a peaceful passing. Dr. Hines communicated with kindness, compassion, and empathy before, during, and after Cupcake’s passing to help everyone during this difficult time. I could not thank Dr. Hines enough for her expertise, kindness, and going above and beyond to support Cupcake and our family during this difficult time. If you need this service, she is the best!!

Dr. Hines was so comforting to me and my family with the passing of my sweet girl of 18 years. She took the time and explained things, didn’t make me feel rushed, and let us have our time with our girl. She even helped us have our other dog say goodbye. For something so heartbreaking she made things much less stressful for us and mainly my sweet Bella.

I cannot say enough about Dr Hines at Gentle Farewells. My girl Emma fought hard, but I could tell she was done. She always hated hospitals, so I always knew I wanted to have an at home euthanasia but I never knew how one would plan for that. When I decided I was taking her home from the ER to spend one more night with her, 6 am the next morning I was googling at home euthanasia services and contacting anyone I could to see if I could get someone to come same day. I quickly realized that was a difficult task. But Dr Hines responded and of all the people who could have, I am so glad it was her. She was amazing. I was able to set Emma up in her favorite bed, keep her company and play soothing music while her brother Toby could be present, know what was going on. Dr Hines was amazing with Emma, with me, even spoiled Toby with attention 😂 Emma passed so peacefully. It was that mixed pain- feeling relief that she's no longer in pain, with the agony of knowing you'll never see her open her eyes again. It's hard and this kind of grief can't be fixed, but Dr Hines does everything in her power to walk people through and go at their pace, making sure you are as ready as you can be every step of the way. They also took Emma for cremation and had an option to deliver her ashes right to my house which I was so thankful for because I was wondering how I would pick up Emma's ashes (make a sign and hand it to the receptionist? Cause there was no way I was going to be able to speak the words, "I'm here for Emma's ashes."). I know this is a lot of writing but, I just don't think there are enough words that can be said to express how amazing Dr Hines was during the worst moment of my life. I've worked with many veterinarians in my life and she truly is something special. Please, if you need this service, she is the one. At home euthanasia is going to be expensive where ever you go, but I would pay it again in a heart beat because I got to say goodbye to my baby in the calmest environment, with a peaceful passing, led by an angel of a doctor. Dr. Hines allowed us the chance to say goodbye to our sweet boy in our family’s home. She was gentle, compassionate, and kept us informed through the whole process. Compassionate and empathetic, she let us cry, laugh and remember him. She didn't rush our grieving and goodbyes. We cannot thank her enough for the dignity she gave our big guy.
