When we lost our first Great Dane to bloat we made a decision that a preventative gastropexy when we neutered was the responsible thing to do if we were going to have Great Danes. When we got our puppy 2 years ago I started looking for places that would offer the surgery laparoscopically but they were way out of our budget at $5000+ dollars. I had a person who had been there for the same surgery and someone I trust recommend Frey to us, so I called. The cost was dramatically less than other places and it was affordable. I booked and the person who booked us described that the provider had lots of experience with this surgery and they did them quite frequently at Frey which reassured me that we were in good hands. My husband took our dog in the day of surgery and the staff was excellent. They were very good to our Lonnie who was very nervous, I could tell he had been extremely loved on and his fur was so sleek as if he had been petted constantly when he came home. They did a great job on his surgery and gave us medicine with thorough directions and aftercare plus reassurance we could call anytime if something came up. We got text updates after surgery and a call when he was done. The vet also called to follow up on a Saturday to check in on us. They helped safely load him for the drive home and his toenails had been trimmed nicely. We got to go to our local vet to remove his staples after his 2 weeks were up. Overall 5/5 experience that beyond exceeded our expectations. They were patient, professional, true experts, and affordable. Thank you Frey for taking care of Lonnie and his humans too. Lonnie is a special dog and we try to do what’s best for our Danes. Frey was a great choice to set the foundation to keep Lonnie a valued member of our family for years to come.

Apr 14, 2025 · Jessica MottI absolutely love Frey Pet Hospital. Everyone greets me and my dogs with warm smiles when we come in. All doctors are very thorough and take the time to go over everything in detail. This is the only place I trust with my fur babies!
Apr 16, 2025 · Mallory WaggI used to like Fry a lot years ago. It’s declined a lot since then. I had wait times of 2 and 3 hours for “work in appointments”. Who wants to wait with their pet at the vet for 3 hours before being seen! I don’t know about you but my dog whines and is uncomfortable there as most dogs are. That stresses me out after an hour straight! During the 2 times they sedated my pet they clipped his nails which was nice, but groomed 1 and 1/2 paws. Why would you not just finish the paw? I guess I would say it’s a matter of professionalism. The vets don’t communicate with vet techs, I consistently see people standing in line waiting to be helped with no one to help them. I take my dog to Anamosa now, it’s half the price of Fry as well. The vet and techs do take care of the dog/cats well. Better management maybe would help.
Feb 15, 2025 · Jeff DonohueDr. Ayer’s and staff were absolutely amazing with Sadie! The also took the time before her surgery to answer all my questions to make sure I understood everything. Thank you for all you do!
May 11, 2025 · Jessica HenneI've had such a great experience with Frey and can't recommend them enough. My hound dog can be pretty nervous at the vet, but the entire team is incredibly patient and kind with her. They always go out of their way to make her feel as comfortable as possible, and it really shows in how she responds to them. They’re also super responsive whenever I have questions—whether by phone or email—and take the time to explain things clearly. It’s such a relief knowing she’s in such good hands!
