Forest West Animal Clinic

This is typically my main vet and I had no issues with them until I took a pet in for a checkup. They knew something was immediately wrong and preformed a check-up the same day. X-rays, blood tests, etc. They took the issue seriously, however.. The results were pretty conclusively cancer. The vet who gave me the news comforted me and said she'd send the results to an oncologist to get a definitive diagnosis and other relevant information. She said this could take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks depending on their availability. I got a lot of medications to make her more comfortable and was sent home. I went home to deal with the news of my dog having cancer and waited for a call about the results. Nothing ever came. I never got a single phone call from them after. I waited a few days, but after about a week I called and inquired about results. The receptionist always told me the vet in charge would call me back when she was in the office. Every time I called I was told she either wasn't there or if she was there, I would get told she'd call me when she had free time. This happened over the course of around 2-3 weeks, with my eventually calling every day. One time I called and asked again and the receptionist said the results weren't even in the system. I didn't know if they didn't come back yet, or if they weren't put into their computers, or what. They gave me absolutely no information every single time I called. I had no idea what her prognosis was so everyday was scary. I eventually decided to just show up in person to demand results in the morning but the day of my dog passed away next to me at 3am, probably in a considerable amount of pain. I had no idea how far long she was so I didn't know if euthanize was a good idea. Not like they would've told me since they just never had any information for me. This vet is usually wonderful but if anything life threatening happens I'm going somewhere else. There was so much negligence with my dogs life. I would've liked to get SOME information, even a timeframe of how much longer I had with her. I am sadly not the only person in these reviews to have a similar experience.

I transitioned my dogs to this neighborhood vet a couple of years ago based on reviews. I show up once a year for annual exams and to get heartworm/ flea medicine. Most recently, I brought my dog in for a suspected UTI. Blood was collected because it could be something "more serious" and a urine sample was collected. This occurred on a Friday morning and I was told results should be back in two days. I called the following Wednesday at 4pm to follow-up. Apparently, my doctor wasnt in, and the other vets were "too busy". They called back to ask if I could pick up antibiotics before 6pm. No ma'am, I work and wont be able to make it there before before 6pm. The next day (Thursday), I try to pick up the medication and no one can find it. So I wait while three people figure it out. I explain I still haven't spoken to a doctor. The front desk staff tells me she isnt in today, but she was present the day before. Huh? I called yesterday and they said she wasnt in. I explain my frustration and finally retreive the meds. Later that evening, I got a call from the vets office confirming the UTI and apologizing for my experience. She tells me some labs are still pending, so I'll get a follow-up call. It is now the following Thursday, nearly two weeks after the original appointment. After a $400 visit fee, medication fee and a week on medication, my dog's condition has not improved. I'm not returning to this clinc, as I still havent heard from the original vet (Dr. Caroline O.) with ALL lab results. An appointment at a new vet clinic has been secured for next week.

Simply the best. Excellent care and friendly staff! They always go above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Kind, consideration, and so helpful. The female Vet, can't remember her name, but when I needed to put my beloved cat down she was compassionate, and very much assured me, I was doing the right thing. I highly recommend her to anyone. I am new to Texas, from PA, and I feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful vet.

I've been twice. I'm new to the area and they treat my boys like family. Slightly pricey but they are reasonable ,safe and effective not to mention so darn sweet ❤️ never had a bad experience with them . We have a new vet home . Joanne was very nice and patient .

The doctors and staff are wonderful! They are kind and attentive to the needs of our dogs. We have been clients of this facility close to thirty years!! Dr Griggs is the best!!! I have been a client at Forest West Animal Clinic for over 20 years. I believe in large part because of the care they provide, my dogs live to be 16 and 17 years old. My current pet is a beagle American foxhound mix who is 15 years old. I trust Dr Griggs to provide the best care for my pets. I also appreciate that many of her staff have been with her for a long time.
