FM 1488 Animal Medical Center

I came here to find out what was wrong with my dog's ear. The tip of her ear was losing hair and looked irritated. Dr. Jeffrey examined her and immediately diagnosed OTITIS. He applied BNT ear packing in BOTH ears....and prescribed Prednisone and Cefpodoxime. I asked if it would be better to run a lab test to determine exactly what she had, but he said it wasn’t necessary… The next day, after starting the medication, my dog was in pain! She lay in her bed, making sad noises (Jack Russell). Concerned, I called the clinic to ask if this was normal, and they told me to bring her in. At that point, I was already feeling uncertain about everything, after paying $250 at my first appointment, my dog was worse than before. So this time, I requested to see a different vet. Dr. Bernstein examined her and said, This is not otitis; it’s a dermatitis issue! ($100 bill). He explained that my dog would always be prone to this condition, similar to how Dachshunds often have ear problems. He then prescribed a cream and said we were good to go. I also took pictures and videos of my dog's ear every single day after she got sick. My cousin, who is a veterinary student, suggested I do this to easily track whether she was improving or not. (Looking at the pictures from my first visit with you guys) This is the first negative review I’ve ever written, as I’m usually very patient and understanding. However, I feel truly disappointed, especially by the first vet we saw. Now, six months later, I’m writing this because we traveled for two weeks, and my dog stayed with a pet sitter. In the second week, the sitter told me she wasn’t scratching her ear but was losing even more hair than before (she never fully recovered it). As soon as we returned, I took her to a new vet clinic, and this time, they told me "the only way to know exactly what’s going on is with a lab test" I ended up paying way less than what I initially paid at your facility…

Had to take my daughter's dog to urgent care over a weekend and treatment required stitches. When my wife called our regular vet (on Rayford Rd) and explained the situation, she was shocked to get the response that they could see us in 20 days, that's right, 20 days!!! I called 1488 and they had us in the next day. Gave my daughter's dog the medication she needed and removed stitches. Nice to have a place that actually cares about animals and is flexible when the situation dictates a more immediate response. Sincerely appreciate all your help.

I took my beautiful stray cat I kind of inherited when we recently bought our house on a moments notice to this vet off a recommendation from my regular reptile vet and man! I’m so happy I found these guys. The staff are incredibly kind and caring, the vets are extremely knowledgeable and willing to teach and I just can’t get over how generous these guys are. I mean, it’s my first vet visit for a stray cat, I know nothing about, an animal which I have 0 experience about and everyone is helping me with answering my 100 questions and lending me a pet carrier for transportation which I need to return asap. I feel like the prices are reasonable. I love that they gave me quotes for worst case scenario and explained a breakdown of every charge and what it was so you know exactly what treatment your pet is getting and what you’re paying for. I just could not be happier with how quick they were to save Janis Meowplin’s sweet little mouth and get her on the road to recovery. We are so grateful for the vets + technicians and staff here and will recommend these guys to our friends! Thanks again! Janis and I are grateful.

Dr. Jeff and his staff have been the best with our 2 pups. Kind and compassionate for a recent end-of-life event for my beloved Piper❤️ Thank you Dr. Green for your wonderful bedside manner and kind care of our geriatric poodle mix. Our new pup had a great surgery and speedy recovery from her spaying.

We have been using FM1488 AMC since moving here in October of 2010. Over the course of that time, they have seen our dogs through times of just wellness visits to extreme emergencies like seeing the dogs for eating rat poison, electrical connectors and Christmas tree ornaments to name a few, as well as allergic reactions. Dr Amy, Dr Helton, Dr Green and Dr Jeffrey are the Doctors we have seen, and all of them have been very attentive to our animals and take the time to explain any issues the animals may be having. When I do have to call for an issue with the dogs, the front office staff are really good about listening to my concerns and getting us in to see one of the Doctors at 1488 AMC. Overall, I always feel like my animals get really good care by all the folks there, I would certainly recommend them if you’re looking for a location that loves your pets as much as you do!
