Now that the figurative "cat is out of the bag", we were bringing our two FIP kitties to Five Star for supportive care. They have an amazing staff and helped us through one of the most terrifying times of our lives. We were told to there was nothing to do but euthanize them by our own vet, but we decided to move forward with the previously controversial treatment. (As of 6-1-24, the pill form of GS is now widely available!!). We took our kitties to Five Star and the staff was with us every step of the way with support while we handled the treatment at home. We now how two cured kitties!!! Without their help with their blood work and supportive medicine, we would not have seen this day. To Five Star: Thank you so much for helping us and I'm glad you were able to watch the treatment progress to see that it really is a miracle drug! ❤️

Five Star Veterinary Center Introduce
Welcome to the introduction of Five Star Veterinary Center, a dedicated pet hospital located at 700 Corporate Ct, Springfield, IL 62703, USA. As a vital part of the local community's pet care ecosystem, categorized under the 'Pet Hospital' platform, Five Star Veterinary Center strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate services for your beloved animal companions. Understanding the deep bond between pet owners and their animals, this center aims to be a trusted partner in ensuring the health and well-being of pets in the Springfield area and beyond.
Five Star Veterinary Center operates with the understanding that a comfortable and welcoming environment is crucial for both pets and their owners. While specific details about the clinic's ambiance are not explicitly provided, the positive review highlighting the "amazing staff" suggests a caring and supportive atmosphere. A stress-free environment can significantly improve a pet's experience during visits, making examinations and treatments smoother. Pet hospitals like Five Star Veterinary Center often focus on creating clean, well-organized spaces with designated areas for different types of animals to minimize anxiety. We can infer that the center prioritizes a professional yet friendly setting where pet owners feel confident in the care their animals receive.
The services offered at Five Star Veterinary Center appear to be diverse, catering to a wide range of pet health needs. Based on the available information, we can identify several key service areas. The mention of "supportive care" for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) indicates that the center is equipped to handle complex and potentially life-threatening conditions. Their willingness to administer and monitor previously controversial treatments, like the GS antiviral medication (now available in pill form as of June 1, 2024), showcases a commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine and a willingness to explore innovative treatment options when appropriate. The fact that they provided blood work and supportive medicine for the FIP-positive kitties further emphasizes their diagnostic capabilities and their role in managing chronic or serious illnesses.
Routine and preventative care are also likely offered. While not explicitly stated, standard pet hospital services typically include annual check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention (flea, tick, and heartworm), dental care, and nutritional counseling. These services are fundamental to maintaining a pet's long-term health and preventing potential diseases. Given the nature of a comprehensive pet hospital, it is reasonable to assume that Five Star Veterinary Center provides these essential services to the local pet community.
Furthermore, the mention of a dog brought in with a suspected broken nail suggests that the clinic handles injury assessments and provides pain management. However, the subsequent negative review raises concerns about the accuracy of the initial diagnosis in that particular case. This highlights the importance for pet owners to communicate clearly with the veterinary staff and potentially seek second opinions if they have doubts about a diagnosis or treatment plan. It's crucial to note that while one positive review praised the staff and their support, the negative review presents a contrasting experience regarding diagnostic accuracy and timely care.
Diagnostic capabilities are hinted at through the mention of blood work for the FIP-positive cats. Modern veterinary hospitals rely heavily on laboratory services for accurate diagnoses of various conditions. This may include in-house or referral lab work for blood tests, urine analysis, fecal exams, and cytology. These diagnostic tools are essential for identifying underlying health issues that may not be apparent during a physical examination.
Surgical services are another common offering at pet hospitals. While not directly mentioned in the provided text, it is plausible that Five Star Veterinary Center provides certain surgical procedures, ranging from routine spay and neuter surgeries to more complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries. The availability of surgical services often depends on the expertise of the veterinarians on staff and the facilities available at the clinic.
Emergency care is a critical aspect of any pet hospital. The negative review mentions a pet owner seeking "same day care," implying that Five Star Veterinary Center may offer urgent care services. However, the long wait time reported in that review is a point of concern. Timely and effective emergency care can be life-saving for pets experiencing sudden illnesses or injuries. It is important for pet owners to understand the emergency protocols of their chosen veterinary hospital.
Features of Five Star Veterinary Center likely include a team of qualified veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The positive review specifically praises the "amazing staff," indicating a team that is perceived as supportive and caring. The expertise and experience of the veterinary professionals are paramount in providing quality medical care for pets. Continuing education and staying abreast of the latest advancements in veterinary medicine are crucial for any reputable pet hospital.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. Typically, pet hospitals may offer introductory discounts for new clients, seasonal promotions on specific services (like dental cleaning or vaccinations), or wellness plans that bundle preventative care services at a reduced cost. To learn about any current promotions at Five Star Veterinary Center, interested pet owners would need to contact them directly via phone at (217) 241-2287 or mobile phone at +1 217-241-2287.
In summary, Five Star Veterinary Center in Springfield, IL, as a 'Pet Hospital,' appears to offer a range of veterinary services, including supportive care for complex conditions, potential routine and preventative care, injury assessment, and diagnostic capabilities. The positive customer feedback highlights a supportive and caring staff, while a negative review raises concerns about diagnostic accuracy and wait times. It is recommended that local users considering Five Star Veterinary Center for their pet's health needs contact the clinic directly to inquire about their specific services, appointment availability, and any current promotions. Visiting the facility may also provide valuable insight into the clinic's environment and overall approach to pet care. Pet owners are encouraged to weigh all available information and consider their individual pet's needs when choosing a veterinary care provider.

Jun 14, 2024 · Angela KinnerIt’s great that they are so friendly, but that doesn’t mean anything if they don’t know what they’re doing. I brought my dog in with what I thought was a broken nail, and after waiting an hour and a half to be seen, the vet quickly skimmed over his paw and said he strained a ligament, but that they needed to give him a pain shot so that they could “get a better look.” After skimming over his paw again and me directly asking “so his nail isn’t broken?” She stated that his nails were all intact and that he strained a ligament or tendon and just needs pain medicine and rest. Well fast forward a week and a half, he’s off the pain medicine and still was clearly bothered by his paw, I took him to another vet. His nail was definitely broken, and the nail growing back had started to grow INTO his quick because it hadn’t been addressed correctly from the beginning. So had to be sedated, have all of the rest of the nail removed, now will have to wait for the full nail to grow back around the quick. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, if your dog needs same day care go to Prompt Vet, they actually know what they’re doing.
Mar 27, 2025 · Jake Jensenafter our Vet that saw our dog for 12 years. They Snubb us for her end of life. Well at 5 star they took very good care of us on a very hard day. They took us in and the whole thing was way easier then we thought it would be .. So thanks five star for caring.
Apr 18, 2025 · Rich HuelskoetterEveryone here is wonderful. The staff are Very caring, and you can tell they genuinely love animals. Service was top notch. Price was crazy though. It's Super expensive. Unless it's an emergency or you make 7 figures I couldn't recommend coming here.
Mar 30, 2025 · Matt KincaidI can’t say enough about five star. We recently had to bring our 13 year old husky here for euthanasia because he couldn’t handle the 30 minute drive to our normal vet. They were so kind and compassionate. My husband and I are a younger couple and this was our first time experiencing euthanizing a pet. They handled our grief with so much gentle kindness. They cared for our boy like he was their own in his final moments. I don’t remember the name of the secretary or the blonde tech but they were so amazing. Thank you so much for everything. You made the experience as easy and peaceful as possible.
