Came here based on a recommendation after a pretty traumatic ER experience. Dr. Wintergrass and the staff are phenomenal! They were able to recommend options for my lil senior guy. Highly highly recommend to anyone who values their fur baby. Pic of Puma for tax šŸˆā€ā¬›

I really can’t overestimate how influential the team at Fishtown Animal Hospital have been for me and my cat, Bubba. About 3 years ago I brought in my family cat, who I had ā€œadoptedā€ from my parents and who had been recently diagnosed with diabetes, after moving to Philly. I didn’t have any experience with chronic illnesses in pets and hardly any experience with pets period. I simply knew I needed a vet who I could trust and who would truly be my partner in caring for him — and for me too, given that I felt overwhelmed by the care I knew he would need likely for the rest of his life. Bubba has seen both Dr Newth and Dr Cohn in the time he’s been going to Fishtown Animal Hospital, over dozens of visits at this point. They have done so much for us: they taught me how to give him his insulin shots, showed me how to run a glucose curve at home to help me save money on vet bills, recommended wonderful cat sitters for cats with special needs, coordinated his care with 2 different ER vets, talked me through difficult moments at nearly all hours of the day. Even after moving to South Philly, we still make the trip up to see them because I genuinely can’t imagine trusting anyone else. The front desk staff and vet techs are equally compassionate, thoughtful, and generous with their time and care. Because Bubba is such a frequent visitor, I have had the pleasure of getting to know their staff — all of whom are lovely humans and nothing but patient with my many questions and concerns sent via phone calls, voicemails, and emails :) Hands down, they are the reason my perfect little monster cat has enjoyed a full life despite his diabetes (and the complications that often come with it) and they have helped me tremendously in caring for a pet with complicated health issues. I can’t recommend them enough.

We take all four of our cats here and they receive great care. The vets and techs do a great job with both making the cats feel at ease, and with coming up with realistic and effective treatment plans.

Dr. Cohn and Dr. Newth are wonderful, caring doctors. The front-of-house staff is terrific. The techs are knowledgable and caring. We could not ask for a better vet experience.

Absolute worst place I have ever taken my dog. They act like they care until they don’t follow through with their word. Took my 14 year Puggle there for bloodwork, $600, had mast cell tumor looked at, bloodwork was taken, lumps and bumps were measured, teeth were examined, need work, tumor needs to be removed… will contact you in 3 days… fast forward to weeks later when I dropped off a urine sample, which was told needed to be refrigerated, never mentioned prior to sample, and had to be taken again. I asked about bloodwork results, was told we were ā€œon the listā€ to be called. WEEKS later, called again. Received a voicemail which stated that her liver enzyme levels were though the roof and she would need more meds ($200) to regulate them and then an ultrasound ($700-$1000) in order to ensure she was ready to have mast cell tumor removed… roughly $2000-$3000. I sent ANOTHER email asking why this was not addressed sooner if her blood levels were so severe!? Vet promise to call me on Saturday… crickets… Then was pulled into the exam room by the vet tech while picking up meds for liver enzymes, same dude who told me I needed to take another urine sample, who reassured me that they received my email and they take customer satisfaction very seriously, and it didn’t fall on deaf ears, and somebody would reach out.I received another voicemail from vet, called back, and never received a call back. I’ve never felt so disgusted by lack of empathy, trust, and compassion, especially since I asked for other options, including homeopathic suggestions or financial assistance, again crickets… which leads me to believe it’s just a money making business. STAY AWAY!!
