My cat was diagnosed Hyperthyroid by my local vet in Missouri, and I did a search and found that Feline Specialties Veterinary Hospital did the I131 treatment. I was very apprehensive about leaving my baby for 14 days for radiation to wear off to 0.02, (as most states only require 3-5 days now with following protocol...Oklahoma Law needs to get on the wagon a bit), but I decided they were closer than anywhere else I could find, and when I met them they were so so nice to me and Piggy during her pre-exam. So the hour and forty minute drive to get there was trying for my poor cat...she suffers from motion sickness each trip. They were very gracious and professional, even when I was going crazy missing her, and tolerated my constant bombardment of questions. Thank you for all the pictures of her while she was there, Jane, Traci, Michelle, Peyton, Karla (can't thank her enough for all she's done for me), and Dr O'Cain. I'll keep it updated here, my 15yo cat is doing fine after her (motion sick) trip home...she's better today. And I know she'll be better in weeks to come. I can already tell she's gained a bit of weight by just feeling her all over. I highly recommend anyone who lives nearby with cats to go there and get treated. They will take excellent care of your babies while they are there....keeping you updated the entire time. :) 9-5-21 Update: 1 year later Piggy is still feeling pretty well. She doesn't eat as much as she used too...not being a 'HyperT' anymore, and sleeps a lot. She still hasn't changed her "finicky," and still loves playtimes. :) She's 16 now, and still looks and feels healthy, as tiny as she is, still only 6lb. Still I can't be thankful enough to the people in this clinic for giving me her longer life. Cheers to you all.

Serving Tulsa and the surrounding areas, this facility offers a focused approach to feline health, recognizing the distinct needs of its beloved patients. Operating under the platform category of a Pet Hospital, Feline Specialties Veterinary distinguishes itself by being a "cats only" facility. This specialization means that all services and goods offered are tailored specifically to the unique physiology, behavior, and health concerns of felines. This includes everything from routine wellness checks to advanced diagnostic and treatment options, all provided in an environment designed to minimize stress for their sensitive cat patients. By focusing solely on cats, the clinic aims to provide an unparalleled level of expertise and understanding in feline medicine.

The environment at Feline Specialties Veterinary is specifically designed with cats in mind, aiming to provide a calm and stress-free experience. While detailed descriptions of the waiting room and clinic layout are not explicitly provided, one customer review fondly reminisced about "literally even the waiting room lol," suggesting a pleasant and memorable atmosphere. The very nature of a "cats only" facility inherently creates an environment free from the sights, sounds, and smells of dogs, which can often be a significant source of stress for felines in a typical mixed-animal veterinary setting. This specialized environment contributes to a more relaxed experience for the cats, facilitating smoother examinations and treatments. Furthermore, the numerous mentions of kind and caring staff, who clearly understand how to work with cats, indicate an atmosphere of compassion and expertise. The provision of updates and pictures of cats during extended stays, as highlighted in a review for an I-131 treatment, further underscores the clinic's commitment to creating a reassuring and supportive environment for both pets and their anxious owners.

Feline Specialties Veterinary offers a full range of services for their feline friends, with a focus on specialized care. This includes comprehensive wellness exams tailored to different life stages, from kittens to senior cats. They provide all necessary vaccinations, parasite prevention and control, and microchipping. Diagnostic services are robust, including in-house laboratory testing and imaging capabilities to accurately diagnose various conditions. A key specialized service they offer is I-131 (radioactive iodine) treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. This advanced therapy requires specific facilities and expertise, making Feline Specialties a regional destination for this particular condition. Beyond specialized treatments, they also provide routine medical care for illnesses and injuries, dental prophylaxis, and various surgical procedures. Nutritional counseling, behavior consultations, and weight management programs are likely part of their holistic approach to feline health. The clinic also facilitates prescription refills and offers an online store for convenient access to medications, food, and other feline-specific products. Their comprehensive approach ensures that almost all aspects of a cat's health can be managed within their specialized setting, providing continuity of care and focused expertise.

Several key features distinguish Feline Specialties Veterinary. The most prominent is its exclusive focus on cats, which allows for a deeper understanding of feline-specific diseases, behaviors, and care requirements. Dr. Jennifer O'Cain, who received her veterinary medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 1998 and began working at Feline Specialties shortly after, along with Dr. Emily Palmer (also an OSU graduate), lead the medical team. This specialized expertise is crucial for complex treatments like I-131 therapy, where one customer highlighted their apprehension about leaving their cat for an extended period but was reassured by the professional and gracious staff. The compassionate care and understanding shown by the entire team – including Jane, Traci, Michelle, Peyton, and Karla – are consistently praised in customer reviews. Clients appreciate the staff's professionalism, even when facing a "constant bombardment of questions" from concerned owners. The regular updates and pictures of hospitalized pets are a significant feature that provides immense comfort and peace of mind to pet parents. The clinic's ability to "get us in right away" for emergencies, such as a cat choking, and to provide quick, explained care, demonstrates their responsiveness and dedication to urgent feline needs. The long-term positive outcomes, such as a cat still doing well a year after I-131 treatment, further solidify their reputation for providing "longer life" to feline patients. The overall kindness of the staff and their clear understanding of how to work with cats create a highly recommended experience for local cat owners.

In terms of promotional information, Feline Specialties Veterinary utilizes various methods to connect with current and prospective clients. Their website features a "Testimonials" section, showcasing positive client experiences to build trust and attract new patients. The option for convenient prescription refills and an online store accessible directly from their website serve as ongoing promotional conveniences, making it easier for clients to obtain necessary goods and potentially offering competitive pricing or bundled deals. While specific time-limited discounts are not explicitly detailed, veterinary clinics often run seasonal promotions for services like dental cleanings or offer new client specials. Their strong emphasis on communication, including providing pictures and updates during a pet's stay, acts as an excellent form of indirect promotion, highlighting their compassionate and thorough care. The positive word-of-mouth generated from highly satisfied clients, especially those with positive outcomes from specialized treatments like I-131, is likely a powerful promotional tool, as seen in the enthusiastic recommendation from a client living nearby. By maintaining a cats-only focus and consistently delivering high-quality, compassionate care, Feline Specialties Veterinary inherently promotes itself as the go-to expert for feline health in the Tulsa area.

In summary, Feline Specialties Veterinary: O'Cain Jennifer DVM in Tulsa, OK, stands out as a unique and highly specialized pet hospital solely dedicated to cats. Its environment is meticulously crafted to be calm and stress-free for feline patients, supported by a team of genuinely kind, caring, and professional staff led by experienced veterinarians like Dr. Jennifer O'Cain. Dr. O Caine takes very good care of our kitty. She is conservative and doesn't push unnecessary procedures, a problem I've encountered with other vets. Great boarding too, if you have a kitty that requires medication. I recommend her without reservation!

This is the best place to take your cat. They spoil it plus they have double doors to enter prevents an animal from getting out of the office. The first visit was fantastic. The new 4 week old kitten was very sick and they help save its orphan life. It was a dump kitty. Now a healthy happy kitten.

Been taking our cats there for many, many years. Wonderful place. Would never take our fur babies anywhere else! Drs. O'Cain and Zinn are great. Cute little gift shop. Being a cats-only clinic, there are no dogs to scare your baby. Brilliant! 🐱
