Based on available information, including direct feedback from pet owners in the local community, Family Pet Care presents a mixed picture. Some long-term customers express strong positive sentiments, highlighting the friendly and caring nature of the staff and doctors. One reviewer with over 15 years of experience indicates a deep appreciation for the way they and their animals are treated, emphasizing the caring and friendly demeanor of both the staff and the veterinary professionals.
However, recent feedback suggests a potential shift in the overall experience. A more critical review points to a perceived decline in service quality following an acquisition by a larger conglomerate. This customer reports instances of staff appearing less knowledgeable, requiring frequent consultations with colleagues to answer questions. While acknowledging that answers were eventually provided, the reviewer expresses concern about the apparent lack of immediate expertise.
Furthermore, this recent feedback sharply contrasts with the idea of a "welcoming and relaxed environment," labeling it as a "joke." The reviewer details a frustrating experience involving a confirmed appointment for their pet's neutering. Despite an email confirmation specifying an arrival time between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, the employees reportedly began arriving around 7:15 AM. The reviewer, along with other waiting customers, was left outside in the cold for approximately 30 minutes. Upon finally being let in, they were informed of a known issue with the misinformation in the corporate-generated email, with no immediate solution offered other than suggesting the customer find another vet if they were dissatisfied.
This negative experience raises concerns about communication, problem-solving, and customer service. The reviewer questions the lack of proactive communication regarding the incorrect appointment time and the apparent inability or unwillingness to rectify the situation with the corporate office. The reviewer emphasizes the importance of compassion and problem-solving in veterinary care, suggesting a deficiency in these areas at the present time. The lack of coordination between the local facility and the corporate office, as perceived by the customer, also erodes trust.
Adding to the complexity of Family Pet Care's offerings, the critical review also mentions the presence of a daycare within the facility and the sale of non-veterinary items such as candles. The reviewer expresses personal reservations about bringing a child to a location with potentially sick animals and questions the focus on retail items over core veterinary services.
Considering the available information, Family Pet Care operates as a pet hospital providing veterinary services and potentially a pet pharmacy component offering medications and supplies. Historically, it seems to have fostered a positive and caring environment, building long-term relationships with pet owners. However, recent changes and experiences reported by some customers suggest a decline in service quality, communication, and problem-solving. Potential local users should be aware of these contrasting experiences when considering Family Pet Care for their pet's needs.
As a pet hospital, Family Pet Care likely offers a range of essential services for your animal companions. These typically include routine check-ups and wellness examinations to ensure your pet's overall health and well-being. Vaccinations are a crucial preventative measure against various diseases, and Family Pet Care should provide these according to recommended schedules. Dental care is another vital aspect of pet health, encompassing teeth cleaning and addressing potential dental issues.
In the realm of diagnostics, a pet hospital usually offers services such as laboratory testing (blood work, urine analysis, etc.) to aid in the diagnosis of illnesses. Imaging technologies like X-rays may also be available to visualize internal structures. For pets requiring surgical intervention, Family Pet Care should offer surgical procedures, potentially ranging from routine surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex operations. In times of unexpected illness or injury, the hospital likely provides medical treatment and care.
As a platform that may include a pet pharmacy, Family Pet Care could offer a convenient way to obtain prescribed medications and other health-related products for your pets directly from their facility. This can ensure that you receive the correct medications and dosages as recommended by their veterinarians. They might also stock over-the-counter pet care items such as flea and tick preventatives, nutritional supplements, and specialized diets.
While specific promotional information is not available in the provided text, it is common for pet hospitals to offer introductory specials for new clients, seasonal discounts on certain services, or package deals for routine care such as vaccinations and wellness exams. It would be advisable to contact Family Pet Care directly to inquire about any current promotions or special offers that might be beneficial for your pet.
In conclusion, Family Pet Care in Toney, Alabama, functions as a local pet hospital, potentially incorporating a pet pharmacy for the convenience of its clients. While past experiences indicate a caring and friendly approach, recent feedback highlights potential concerns regarding service quality, communication, and customer service. Local users are encouraged to consider all available information and perhaps contact Family Pet Care directly to assess whether their current services and environment meet their individual needs and expectations for their beloved pets.

Feb 25, 2025 路 Walter CrutcherDownhill... First of all, I don't give bad reviews lightly. Time is important to me, as most people. This place uses to be very nice. Since being bought by a bigger conglomerate, it has unfortunately gone downhill. First few visits were okay, they didn't seem to be very knowledgeable, ie the vet tech had to keep leaving to ask other people for answers to our questions, then come back to answer.. but ifigured at least they are getting answered. They seem to be acting the part, but not really knowing the part.. Welcoming and relaxed environment 馃ぃ What a joke! We received email confirming our pets appointment to be neutered. (Attached photo). It clearly states to have pet there between 7 and 730. The employees start arriving at this business at about 715.. I thought maybe we had made the appointment at the wrong place, so I asked one of the employees about the email times on their way in, she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about, when an arm reached out of the front door and pulled her in?? After WAITING 30 minutes in the cold w my pet, they finally let me and the 4 other customers waiting outside, in... I was told that they knew of the problem (misinformation in email), and they couldn't do anything about it. The email was from their corporate office. If I didn't like it I could find another vet?!?? Whawhawhatt?? So I did, find another vet. To me... a veterinarian should be compassionate, and most importantly a problem solver. These people have fake compassion and very little problem solving resolve.. Wouldn't it be so simple to call corporate and have them change the email time? Possibly corporate told them they had to open at 7, and they don't want to? Still couldn't they call or text your customer and let them know their email for surgery time is incorrect? Possibly they could come in at 7 on surgery day? I had to schedule time off at my work to take pet in... Then had to be late because of this? Inexcusable. I'm sure this vet is qualified to do the job, But that is only a fraction of what I need in a vet.. the fact that they cant coordinate with their own corporate office, or even their customers, shows me they are either lazy..or just don't give a hoot. I need to be able to TRUST a vet.. There is no trust or compassion in this building. On a separate note, (and this is just a personal feeling)..it's a daycare too... who would bring their baby to a place with sick animals everyday?? They sell candles too馃檮 They better start selling something, because as a vet they suk.
Mar 29, 2025 路 Larry TooleyI recently had a very disappointing experience with Family Vet Clinic. My pet was having issues with eating and urinating, so I took him to the clinic. During the first visit, they ran bloodwork, found no issues, recommended I stop giving him table scraps, and updated his shots. Two weeks later, when he completely stopped eating, I returned to the clinic. They charged me for x-rays, which I didn't see them perform, and despite my pet losing 5 lbs since the previous visit, they found no issues and scheduled an ultrasound for a few days later. Concerned, I took my pet to a different vet the same day. Family Vet Clinic refused to share the x-rays they had taken with the new vet, making it more difficult and costly for me. The new vet performed x-rays and immediately identified a significant amount of fluid in his lungs and a large tumor, both very clearly visible. They were shocked that someone would miss it. My pet had to be put down. I feel that Family Vet Clinic did not take the care of my pet seriously and possibly took advantage of me. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend their services.
Jan 02, 2025 路 johnathen TutenMy dog dude has been going to Family Pet Care since he was a puppy. Everyone there is so caring and friendly. We love Family Pet Care and Dude does too.
Mar 27, 2025 路 Diane McMahanHighly Recommend! So happy with my first visit. The staff was very friendly, obviously love animals and seem to genuinely care about our pets. They had many great suggestions as to what I should be doing to raise my puppy and since it has been a very long time since I have had a puppy I very much appreciated that. Their "new puppy package" that they sent us home with was filled with a lot of great things including puppy food, chew toys, flea treatment and more. Their fees were surprisingly more reasonable then I had hoped. Thanks so much! We'll be seeing you again soon!
