After a delayed referral and a late diagnosis of cataracts from my vet's office, I was eager to finally get an evaluation for my toy poodle who has been struggling to see to eat and ambulate. I wanted my 2nd pet to get checked to avoid similar issues but had not yet received confirmation of her appt. About ten minutes prior to this appt, I received a call asking where I was. I told them I was about 5 min away and they responded that I had missed an earlier appt. Even though I let them know I only received notification for one appt and had driven 30 min to get there in time for the appt I was aware of, they refused to see me or my pet insisting that they had scheduled two dogs. I reviewed the messages I had received with them and the issues with the referrals and though they acknowledged an issue with their portal, they refused to see us, despite me being in time for the known appt. I was upset because I had been waiting so long and was stressed by the suffering of my pet. Initially, they declined to assist but after I insisted on speaking to someone and expressed my strong concern for my pet's state and their system failure, they agreed to work me in the following week, as the next appt was over a month away. I informed them that I would be returning from an unexpected funeral but would do so for my pet to be evaluated. During my 3 hour drive back, I hit traffic and was running late by less than 10 min. Even though the appt was scheduled for an hour and the grace period is 15 min, they again refused to see me. I spoke to them in person and there was no empathy shown for me or my pups. On top of that, they charged me around $200 for a "cancellation fee". I would not trust this clinic for compassionate and trustworthy care based on the poor interaction I have had with them on more than one occasion.

Situated at 3908A Far W Blvd Ste A, Austin, TX 78731, USA, this clinic focuses exclusively on the health and well-being of your beloved pets' eyes. Recognizing the vital role vision plays in an animal's life, Eye Care for Animals offers a range of services, employing specialized equipment and expertise to diagnose, treat, and manage various ocular conditions in pets.
As a specialized "Pet Hospital" within the broader category, Eye Care for Animals distinguishes itself by concentrating solely on ophthalmology. This focused approach allows their team to develop deep expertise and utilize advanced techniques specific to eye care. Unlike general veterinary practices that address a wide array of animal health issues, Eye Care for Animals is equipped to handle complex eye diseases, injuries, and surgical procedures. This specialization can be particularly beneficial for pet owners whose animals require more than routine eye examinations or have been referred by their primary veterinarian for specialized care.
Based on available information, including customer reviews, it's important to present a balanced perspective on the clinic. One customer recounted a negative experience involving appointment scheduling and perceived lack of empathy regarding their pet's urgent needs. This review highlighted issues with communication, adherence to appointment times, and the application of cancellation fees, raising concerns about the clinic's administrative processes and customer service in certain situations. It is crucial for potential clients to be aware of such experiences as they make decisions about their pet's care.
Conversely, another customer shared a highly positive experience, detailing the compassionate and capable care their pet received from Dr. Walsh and the veterinary technician, Lauren. This review specifically praised the team's warmth, efficiency, and the comfort level they provided to the pet during treatment for a stick-related eye injury. The reviewer used enthusiastic language, describing the practice as "choice" and expressing strong satisfaction with the service received. This positive feedback suggests that many pet owners have found the clinic's medical expertise and patient care to be exceptional.
Considering these contrasting experiences, it is evident that Eye Care for Animals - Far West Blvd Austin has the potential to provide high-quality veterinary ophthalmology services. Their specialization indicates a commitment to in-depth knowledge and advanced treatment options for various eye conditions. However, it is also important for the clinic to address any concerns regarding administrative processes and ensure consistent, empathetic communication with all clients, especially when dealing with stressful situations related to their pets' health.
Potential clients considering Eye Care for Animals can likely expect a facility equipped with specialized ophthalmic instruments necessary for thorough examinations, accurate diagnoses, and advanced surgical procedures. Services typically offered at such a specialized pet hospital may include comprehensive eye examinations, diagnostic testing for conditions like glaucoma and dry eye, cataract evaluation and surgery, corneal ulcer treatment, management of eye infections and inflammation, and surgical repair of eye injuries. The focus on ophthalmology means the veterinarians and staff are likely to have specific training and experience in addressing a wide spectrum of ocular diseases in animals.
Given the information available, it is advisable for pet owners in the Austin area seeking specialized eye care for their animals to consider Eye Care for Animals - Far West Blvd Austin. However, it would also be prudent to communicate clearly regarding appointment scheduling, understand the clinic's policies on appointment changes and fees, and perhaps seek additional recent reviews or testimonials to gain a broader understanding of the current client experience. Jan 22, 2025 · Kris MThis is our cute little dumdum called Janet. She booped a ball over the fence and got a stick in the eye trying to keep a watch on it. That eye got all weird and goopy and even tho Janet just cared about getting her ball back and not so much about an infection we went to see the lovely and most capable Dr. Walsh who treated us like fam. Tbh I don’t think Janet has ever felt so at easy in an office or professional environment let alone a vet. Lauren, the vet tech, was an immediate warmth and tonic to Janet’s nerves. Her and Dr. Walsh knew what the Queen of Soul meant by TCB. In the words of the prophet Bueller, this practice is, “So choice.” Why go anywhere else? Thanks y’all!
Mar 13, 2025 · Justin GodfreyOur dog Sunny and I are so grateful for the excellent care she received from Dr. Walsh and her team. After successful cataract surgery, Sunny can see again! Her quality of life has improved dramatically, and she has the energy, curiosity, and playfulness of her younger self.
