My cat Arya has very bad teeth and had to get 9 teeth extracted. She was always extremely lethargic and slept all the time. The staff here was timely, organized, kind, and took great care of my kitty. She is acting like a brand new cat, she is running all over the place, head-butting me, eating, and wants to play with her sister. I can’t thank this place and everyone who works here enough. I am so thankful that I chose this vet hospital years ago!!! Thank you.

The environment at Exeter Veterinary Hospital is designed to be welcoming and professional, ensuring a comfortable experience for both pets and their owners. While specific details on the architectural style are not explicitly detailed, a modern veterinary hospital typically features clean, well-organized reception areas, comfortable waiting spaces, and dedicated examination rooms. Efforts are made to create a calming atmosphere, understanding that a vet visit can be stressful for animals. The hospital is equipped with facilities necessary for comprehensive care, including areas for diagnostics, surgery, and recovery. The focus is on providing a safe and hygienic environment where pets can receive the best possible medical attention. The staff's kindness and organized approach, as noted in customer reviews, contribute significantly to the overall positive and reassuring environment within the hospital.
Exeter Veterinary Hospital offers an extensive array of veterinary services, addressing a full spectrum of pet health needs. Central to their practice are comprehensive wellness and preventative care programs. These include routine annual physical examinations, which are vital for monitoring a pet's overall health, detecting early signs of disease, and establishing a baseline for future care. Tailored vaccination protocols are administered to protect pets from common and potentially serious infectious diseases, with choices based on individual lifestyle and risk factors. Effective parasite control strategies, covering both internal parasites (like heartworm and intestinal worms) and external parasites (fleas and ticks), are also a standard offering, ensuring pets are protected year-round.
Beyond preventative care, Exeter Veterinary Hospital provides robust diagnostic capabilities. They offer in-house laboratory services for rapid blood work (including complete blood counts and chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal examinations, enabling quick and accurate diagnoses. Advanced imaging techniques are also available, including digital radiography (X-rays) for detailed examination of bones, soft tissues, and internal organs. These diagnostic tools are crucial for uncovering underlying health conditions and formulating effective treatment plans. The hospital also offers specialized services such as therapeutic laser treatments, which can aid in pain management, wound healing, and rehabilitation for various conditions.
Surgical services are a significant component of their comprehensive care. Exeter Veterinary Hospital performs a wide range of soft tissue surgeries, including routine procedures such as spaying and neutering, which are fundamental for population control and preventing certain health and behavioral issues. They are also equipped to handle more complex surgical cases as needed. All surgical procedures are conducted with the highest standards of patient safety, utilizing modern anesthetic protocols, vigilant monitoring, and comprehensive pain management strategies to ensure a smooth recovery. Dental care is another critical area of focus, recognizing its profound impact on a pet's overall systemic health. They provide professional dental cleanings under anesthesia, including ultrasonic scaling and polishing, and perform necessary extractions of diseased teeth, utilizing dental radiography for thorough assessment of oral health below the gumline.
One of the most remarkable features of Exeter Veterinary Hospital, consistently praised by clients, is the exceptional level of personalized care and customer service provided by its dedicated team. The staff is repeatedly described as "timely, organized, kind," and taking "great care" of pets. Dr. MacClinchy, specifically mentioned in a glowing review, exemplifies this commitment, going "beyond caring" and even calling a client while on vacation to discuss a pet's anxiety, a level of dedication that is truly exceptional and "never in a million years" would be expected. This speaks volumes about the genuine concern and professional commitment of the entire team. Their ability to handle complex medical issues, such as multiple tooth extractions that transformed a lethargic cat into a "brand new cat," highlights their expertise and the positive impact they have on pets' lives. They actively work to make owners feel "at ease" and supported, even during stressful times, and provide "exceptional care" for every visit. The consistent recommendation from satisfied clients, both for routine check-ups and emergency situations, underscores their reliability and trustworthiness.

They take EXCEPTIONAL care of him when he’s seen and are always beyond caring. Dr. MacClinchy called me while she was away on vacation to discuss Jack’s 4th of July anxiety. Mar 10, 2025 · Kathleen MarieWe moved to town recently & brought our 10year old pup to Exeter Vet after hearing good things from a friend. I was diligent in ensuring that all of his medical records were sent from his previous vet in Boston. Upon arriving, I was asked what I was there for & when I told them it was a new patient visit & for his monthly Librela injection, I was told by the woman at the front desk that he was also due for all of his vaccinations (rabies, distemper, etc.) & a heartworm blood test. I thought that was odd but went into the exam room & when the tech walked in with the medications to administer, I told her I wasn't sure that was accurate as it felt like we just got his vaccinations done in the spring. She left the room & came back to tell me that because his medical records were so long they 'didn't look through them all' but that I was right - he wasn't due for any vaccinations until April of 2025. My dog almost being given a variety of vaccinations that he didn't need is concerning & felt like it was being handled nonchalantly with a chuckle & excuse about his file being too large to adequately review. I immediately called & cancelled follow up visits/will be going to a different vet in the area - but sharing so that others know to be diligent on what medications your animal is due for & when. I'm not sure what (if anything) would have happened to him had he received these vaccinations 6 months before they were due, but knowing he has kidney & other health issues, it may not have been good. Giving 2 stars because despite the unfortunate misstep of the front office staff, Dr. B was knowledgeable & kind to my dog & their office manager was professional & incredibly apologetic when I spoke to her about the incident.
Nov 12, 2024 · Alana O'ConnellBeen there several times with my dog, my son’s dog. Vets were FABULOUS. Front desk gal leaves a lot to be desired. Never nice, always snarky and dismissive and rude. Too bad, great vets!
