So happy to find hydrotherapy treatment in Rockford! Only other options are long drives away. After our dog Gigi had surgery for an ACL tear, we came here for her rehab. Dr Manno is a kind and dedicated veterinarian and took great care of her! Would highly recommend!

EQUINE & CANINE AQUATIC THERAPY Introduce

For local users in Rockford, IL, seeking a "Pet Hospital" that specializes in aquatic therapy, EQUINE & CANINE AQUATIC THERAPY, located at 7681 Old River Rd, offers a unique service in the area. According to one review, it is a welcome option for hydrotherapy treatment, as other similar facilities may be a significant drive away, indicating a potentially limited local availability of this type of rehabilitation.

One customer shared a positive experience using EQUINE & CANINE AQUATIC THERAPY for their dog Gigi's rehabilitation after ACL surgery. They specifically mentioned Dr. Manno as a "kind and dedicated veterinarian" who provided great care and highly recommended the facility for this type of treatment. This suggests that the clinic offers veterinary oversight for their aquatic therapy services and has at least one veterinarian on staff who is well-regarded by some clients.

However, another potential customer had a significantly negative initial interaction when calling to discuss underwater therapy for their dog recovering from back surgery (IVDD). This reviewer described the staff member they spoke with as "hostile," "very critical," "quick to blame" their dog's surgeon and primary veterinarian, "unprofessional, abrasive and arrogant." The caller reported being asked personal questions unrelated to the pet's care and felt the staff member was insistent on starting therapy sooner than the surgeon's recommendation, leading to a raised voice and talking over the caller. This experience led the reviewer to conclude they would not trust the facility with their dog without their presence.

The contrasting reviews present a mixed picture. While EQUINE & CANINE AQUATIC THERAPY fills a need for local hydrotherapy options and has at least one positive testimonial regarding veterinary care and rehabilitation, there is also a serious concern raised about the professionalism and demeanor of at least one staff member during an initial consultation. Potential clients may want to consider these differing experiences when deciding whether to seek services at this facility.

No information regarding the environment of the facility, other specific services offered beyond aquatic therapy, features of their approach, or any promotional information was available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in exploring this "Pet Hospital" for their equine or canine companions may want to contact them directly to inquire further, keeping in mind the varied customer experiences reported.

I called to discuss possibly starting underwater therapy for my dog who underwent recent back surgery for IVDD. The surgeon released my dog to start underwater exercises at 4 weeks post-op. I wasn’t surprised by her reaction when I mentioned that he needs to wait until 4 weeks post-surgery based on the previous reviews I read. Her demeanor quickly became hostile. She asked me questions that were none of her business including how much I paid for my dog’s surgery, is his surgeon younger or older and why did I take him to Chicago (as opposed to Madison?). She also asked if his surgeon is an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon, and when I told her the surgeon is a neurosurgeon she replied “well that makes a lot of sense”. She was very critical and quick to blame my dog’s surgeon and also of my primary vet with her unnecessary comments like my primary vet should have told me to reduce his weight. She also insisted on seeing my dog’s records from the surgeon, but then wanted to see him to start his first session prior to when I would be able to have the records emailed to her. She mentioned that there will be days I will have to drop my dog off and pick him up later, because she is so busy. Just after a minute of listening to her rant I knew there would be no way I would trust her with my dog without me there! When I said I wanted to be cautious with his therapy since she was adamant he needed to start therapy now instead of waiting until 4 weeks she started raising her voice and talking over me. Shame on her for bashing other veterinary colleagues, the very colleagues that have taken good care of my dog and have earned my trust and respect. She was very unprofessional, abrasive and arrogant.

VERY bad experience. This self-proposed veterinary physical therapist is neither certified nor recommended by our surgeon or veterinarian, and I understand why. She is dillusional and impossible to converse with. She became angry, even hostile, at us for not trusting her over our Veterinary Specialists' surgeon. She would not wait for our puppy's surgeon to release him and insisted on starting daily underwater exercises with an open wound. She claimed she knows more than the surgeons and she was very busy. Alarmingly, there was not one animal in her care, only about 15-20 empty kennels. Very unprofessional, uncaring and self-centered. "Dr." Cathy is coo coo, stay away!
