My dog Otto, handsome as the day is long (see attached photo for proof), needed to have his spleen removed after they discovered some concerning nodules during an ultrasound. Everything was explained thoroughly beforehand so I understood exactly what was going to occur. The procedure itself went well. He’s recovering so quick despite being almost 10 years old. One day later he was up and at em, looking for food and treats no doubt. Dr. Hughes is a top notch veterinarian and the staff truly cares about their patients. I’d highly recommend this practice for any pet emergency.

Feb 12, 2025 · Zack RexineOver the past few years we have had to reach out to the Emergency Animal Hospital of Ellicott City twice. Once was for an after hours injury and the other was for when we had an appointment with our regular vet but the cat's condition warranted emergency immediate care. Both times our pets were seen quickly and their care was professional, thorough, and loving. The injured cat was stabilized and we were given a great recommendation for follow on care. The ill cat was examined and diagnosed quickly and efficiently and received excellent treatment. The staff kept us well informed of procedures, costs, results, and options. I'm addition to being very qualified and professional, all of the staff are extremely friendly and kind. Update: We have now also had experience with care for our ill Guinea pig and he was very well cared for. I am grateful to find that our favorite pet ER also provides for exotic pets!
Dec 22, 2024 · Connie ReedThe Emergency Animal Hospital of Ellicott City has been my go to place when my fur babies need immediate care! They have been nothing but professional, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely caring towards our animals (and us). They helped when we unexpectedly had to put down our senior kitty, which as you can imagine is a call no one wants to make. But they made the experience as good as it could have been and so easy for us. And just recently when our normal vet couldn’t fit us in for an emergency visit for on of our other cats with an eye infection they got us in within a hour of calling. He was in and out with all the necessary tests and we were back home with the medication we needed in a blink of an eye (pun intended lol). The doctors and staff could not be nicer. We were in the best hands and truly do feel like they care about our pets getting the best care possible as much as we do. I can’t say enough good things about this place!! Thank you for everything ♥️🐱
Dec 31, 2024 · Victoria DodaMy bird Kiwi suddenly got sick late one night and I called several vets to see if they could see him. No one was available but I was given a list of emergency avian vets. I called the lovely folks at EAH & told them what was happening. They told me to bring him in immediately, so i did. The staff was warm and made sure the two of us were comfortable. I was given the option to drop Kiwi off so I could get some rest at home but I decided to stay with him because I was a bit anxious. I sat for a little while but I knew that was going to be the case because I was given a heads up by the staff. When it was our turn my little one was taken back for an examination. I was kept updated and the lovely vet Dr Frey came out to tell me everything she’d found and what the treatment options were along with the prices. I got all the information and medications and was even taught how to give a bird medication. Fast forward a few weeks and my little bird is almost fully recovered and getting back to his happy little self. He lost alot of weight & some feathers during the illness but has started to regain both, thankfully. Huge thanks to the entire team at EAH for being so kind and taking the time to address my fifty thousand phone calls and questions. I absolutely recommend bringing your beloved pet here because they’ll be in very good hands.
Feb 23, 2025 · M. C.The staff here is just absolutely wonderful. Having started a new job, I was scrambling to find a vet who could take a look at my cat after hours when she became incredibly lethargic and was having GI issues. My only regret is I didn’t get the names of the two wonderful techs who assisted me through this and broke everything down in a very easy way to understand, so I could thank them properly. One staff member even gave me her own personal iPhone charger so I could charge my phone while I waited for results. They truly care here, and the veterinarian who assisted me was also so kind and knowledgeable. My kitty was so tired she would not even play anymore. After her treatment here, I’m watching her go nuts over her toy bird as we speak :)
