I did not care for Dr Gust bed side manner. I had no idea that when I showed up with my newly adopted 6 month old pup of 11 days that he would use the word "catastrophic" after taking her x-ray. Her prognosis was severe, but I don't think that catastrophic was the word that should've been used. His focus was on her age, the length of time I had her and going on about how much money do you want to spend. Of course I DIDN'T want my pup to suffer, but some compassion and helping me think through the process would've been helpful, given the fact I had NO idea that I would be saying good bye that night. Dr Gust became frustrated with me at least 2 times due to the questions I was asking. I appreciate the heads up regarding cost, but letting me know all of my options and what could be done at that moment would've been helpful. I am not asking to have my hand held, but compassion and understanding would've be appreciated. The rest of the staff was wonderful, and yes after researching her diagnosis it was severe, but as a professional catastrophic is not the word I would have started with after the x-ray. After researching there wasn't anything we could do that would guarantee that she could live a long healthy life, and yes it would've been very costly for me to find out. In these situations you always have to ask yourself about quality vs quantity. It's never easy. I feel that my level of care was satisfactory, but did I care for Dr Gust and would I recommend him. I can't say that I would care to see him again, but I am sure he is a good fit for some patients.

I took my 70 lb golden doodle in after he started having diarrhea and vomiting when I picked him up after being boarded. The staff was very honest about the wait and why. Dr. Gust was very quick, but discussed in detail what was wrong with Hank and why. I appreciate the ability to take my animals to a place that I trust at all hours. Really thankful that I can rely on it to be open and staffed with caring people.

Dog ate a corncob on Memorial Day and went to another vet only to be told the surgeon was out for two days and no other options and was sent to see Dr. Gust for surgery. He was much more knowledgeable and was able to prevent surgery and get us help extremely fast. I wish I would have come to him first. He and his staff went above and beyond and made my dog very comfortable and was the absolute best. Highly recommend Dr. Gust!!
