I was disappointed to call the clinic and be dismissed very quickly over the phone, told to email the doctor, which takes about 1-2 weeks to get a response. Most recently, they even told me on the phone that they have no record of my dog as a patient, despite paying hundreds of dollars at this practice. It’s concerning to think someone is caring for your dog and suddenly they lost all of their records after less than one year. I think they were fine for when we needed them, but needless to say we’ve switched care providers.

Welcome to Downtown Veterinary Clinic

Welcome to Downtown Veterinary Clinic, a Pet Hospital located at 244 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA. Serving the downtown area of New York City, Downtown Veterinary Clinic can be reached at (212) 463-8705 or their mobile number +1 212-463-8705.

As a Pet Hospital in the local community, Downtown Veterinary Clinic offers a range of veterinary services and likely provides related goods for pet owners. Based on the available customer reviews, there appear to be differing opinions regarding the clinic's service and practices, which potential local users should consider.

Environment:

The provided reviews do not offer specific details about the physical environment of Downtown Veterinary Clinic. One positive review refers to it as "the vet that true New Yorkers use," which might imply a certain established presence or local familiarity, but does not describe the clinic's ambiance or facilities.

Services:

While a comprehensive list of services is not available in the provided information, the fact that customers bring their dogs and cats for veterinary care indicates that the clinic offers general medical services for these animals. The mention of a pet passing away after 14 years suggests the clinic provides ongoing care for pets throughout their lives, potentially including end-of-life care. The negative review regarding a lost patient record after "paying hundreds of dollars" implies that they do provide services that incur such costs, likely including examinations, treatments, and possibly medications or other products. The dismissal over the phone and the instruction to email the doctor for inquiries suggest a specific communication protocol for certain types of requests.

Features:

One of the key features highlighted in a positive review is the perception of fairness and genuine care for animals, with the reviewer stating that the clinic is "not just about selling you services" and is "genuine and legit." This suggests that some clients believe the clinic prioritizes the well-being of the animals they treat. The same review also expresses gratitude to the team for their efforts in caring for a cat until the end of its life, indicating a level of compassion and support during difficult times. However, contrasting this is a negative review that describes being "dismissed very quickly over the phone" and experiencing issues with patient record-keeping, which are significant concerns regarding the clinic's administrative and communication practices. The discrepancy in these reviews suggests that while some clients have positive experiences regarding the care provided, others have encountered issues with communication and organization.

Promotional Information:

The provided reviews do not contain any explicit promotional information such as discounts or special offers. However, the positive review indirectly promotes the clinic by stating it is "by far the best" and "the vet that true New Yorkers use," suggesting a local reputation for quality and genuine care. The reviewer also mentions "fair" pricing, which could be seen as a positive aspect for cost-conscious pet owners. Conversely, the negative experiences shared in another review would likely deter potential clients, acting as an anti-promotion. Therefore, there is no objective positive promotional content to report beyond the subjective positive statements from one reviewer.

In summary, Downtown Veterinary Clinic is a Pet Hospital located in New York, NY, providing veterinary care for animals, primarily dogs and cats. Reviews present a mixed picture. One client describes the clinic as "the best" with "fair" prices and a genuine concern for animals, expressing gratitude for the care their cat received. This suggests a positive aspect of compassionate and ethical service. However, another client reports significant issues with communication, including being quickly dismissed over the phone and instructed to email for inquiries (with a potentially long response time), as well as the concerning issue of lost patient records. This discrepancy indicates potential inconsistencies in service quality or administrative efficiency. Local users should consider these differing experiences when evaluating Downtown Veterinary Clinic for their pet care needs. The positive review highlights perceived genuine care and fair pricing, while the negative review raises concerns about communication and record-keeping reliability. Potential clients may wish to seek more recent reviews or contact the clinic directly to address these potential issues before making a decision.

It is important for local pet owners to weigh the positive feedback regarding genuine care against the reported negative experiences with communication and record management. The statement about being "the vet that true New Yorkers use" is subjective but implies a local presence and perhaps a loyal clientele who have had positive experiences. However, the issues raised in the negative review are serious and could be a cause for concern for pet owners who value clear communication and accurate record-keeping. As there is no further information available to provide a more comprehensive or balanced view, potential clients are advised to do their own due diligence, possibly including seeking additional reviews or speaking directly with the clinic about their processes and client communication practices.

Ultimately, choosing a veterinary clinic is a crucial decision for pet owners. The contrasting experiences shared in these reviews highlight the importance of considering various factors, including the perceived quality of care, communication efficiency, and administrative reliability. Local users may want to prioritize clinics with consistently positive feedback across these areas to ensure the best possible experience for themselves and their beloved pets.

I have tried a few veterinary clinics and this one is by far the best. This is the vet that true New Yorkers use. They are fair and great. They actually care about the animals, and not just about selling you services (which most vets do). This place is genuine and legit. Sadly my kitty just passed away(14yrs). But I’m grateful to the team here for doing their best to help her out.

THE best vet I have had in NYC. Personal and genuine care. Reasonable cost and they are giving you the care that’s required instead of trying to add on a lot of services and fees. Wouldn’t take my 2 pugs anywhere else. Everyone is so kind.

Loved my experience here at Downtown Veterinary clinic with Dr. Ficarro. It was our first visit (she came recommended by a friend who has 2 dogs), and it was a follow up after my dog had to go to emergency. Firstly her team were organized. Paperwork I had emailed was organized neatly into a folder ready to go on first visit. Follow calls were made to make sure we knew our visit time. On first meet, Dr. Ficarro was calm, kind and direct to the point. She asked me smart questions, read the follow up notes from the emergency visit, and treated my dog with kindness. Our visit was easy and address the issues at hand. She asked us about my dog’s general health, gave him an overall check up. The whole visit was easy. I left feeling welcomed, heard and at ease. It was a bonus that her all girl team were on top of everything as well. My dog is a fan of a female veterinarian, and I’m so glad I have found a vet who I would trust with my dog’s health. I HIGHLY recommend coming to see Dr. Ficarro at Downtown veterinary clinic. She will treat your dog, and treat you well.
