The staff at Dove Creek were amazing yesterday. My 9 year old Pomeranian was very ill and I took him in to see them. They were very caring and professional. Unfortunately I had to make the decision to euthanize my dog after the results of some testing indicated severe kidney failure. They allowed me the time I needed to go home so that my children could see him and say their goodbyes. They allowed me to come back later in the day when I was ready to euthanize. The whole experience was very calm and the staff was very caring and allowed us the time we needed to spend with our pet. I will be forever thankful to them for their compassion and empathy during this difficult time. They really respect the owner’s wishes and listen to concerns. When I am ready to bring another dog into my family, I will be using this great place for my dog’s care. I wish I knew their names. Thank you for being so wonderful to my little guy Oscar as he passed over to doggy heaven.❤️.

Welcome to Dove Creek Animal Hospital

For pet owners in Amsterdam, NY, and the surrounding areas, finding reliable and compassionate veterinary care is a top priority. Dove Creek Animal Hospital, located at 4798 NY-30, Amsterdam, NY 12010, USA, offers a range of services for beloved animal companions. As a dedicated pet hospital, Dove Creek aims to provide comprehensive medical attention to ensure the health and well-being of local pets.

Dove Creek Animal Hospital operates as a full-service veterinary facility, meaning it is equipped to handle a wide array of pet health needs. This typically includes routine wellness exams, vaccinations, preventative care, and nutritional counseling, all crucial for maintaining a pet's long-term health. Beyond preventative measures, the hospital is generally expected to offer diagnostic services, which might involve in-house laboratory testing for blood work, urinalysis, and other vital screenings, as well as imaging capabilities like X-rays or ultrasound to help identify underlying issues. These diagnostic tools are essential for accurately diagnosing illnesses and developing effective treatment plans.

For pets requiring more intensive care, Dove Creek Animal Hospital likely provides various medical and surgical services. This could encompass soft tissue surgeries, dental procedures, and potentially some orthopedic interventions. The facility would also be prepared to handle common pet ailments, infections, and chronic disease management. Furthermore, many animal hospitals of this nature offer emergency veterinary care during their operating hours, addressing urgent situations that can arise unexpectedly with pets, such as injuries, sudden illnesses, or toxic ingestions. Availability of emergency care is a critical factor for many pet owners, providing peace of mind during crises.

Considering the environment of a veterinary clinic is important for both pets and their owners. While specific details about Dove Creek Animal Hospital's interior design or waiting areas are not provided in the given information, a professional animal hospital typically strives to create a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere. This often involves separate waiting areas for dogs and cats to reduce stress, comfortable seating for pet owners, and examination rooms designed to be calm and secure for animals. The overall aim is to minimize anxiety for pets during their visit and ensure a comfortable experience for their human companions. Cleanliness and hygiene are paramount in any medical facility, and a veterinary hospital is no exception, with rigorous cleaning protocols in place to prevent the spread of illness.

A key feature of any veterinary practice is its staff. While specific names are not provided in all reviews, the customer feedback highlights the impact of the team. One review specifically commends the staff's professionalism, caring nature, compassion, and empathy during a difficult time, describing them as "amazing." This suggests a commitment to providing not only medical care but also emotional support to pet owners, particularly in sensitive situations like end-of-life decisions. The ability to allow owners the time they need and to respect their wishes are significant indicators of a client-centered approach. However, another review indicates concerns about staff behavior, documentation, efficiency, and standardization, suggesting potential inconsistencies in customer service and operational procedures. This indicates a mixed experience among clients regarding the staff and the overall management of the facility.

The pricing structure and diagnostic accuracy are also aspects of Dove Creek Animal Hospital that have garnered attention from customers. One review suggests that the hospital's charges for exams and tests are higher than those at other veterinary clinics, even in areas with a higher cost of living. This perspective highlights a potential concern for some pet owners regarding the affordability of services. Furthermore, the same review raises significant concerns about diagnostic capabilities, alleging negligence, a lack of thorough research, and prolonged treatment over multiple appointments without a definitive diagnosis. This specific feedback points to a perception of inefficiency and potential misdiagnosis in complex cases, ultimately leading to increased costs for the pet owner. The reviewer's strong criticism regarding the diagnosis of Pannus, an eye condition, after providing relevant family history, suggests a perceived lack of attention to detail and clinical thoroughness in certain situations. On the other hand, the positive review speaks to a high level of care and support during a very challenging time, implying that for some services and situations, the hospital excels.

When considering promotional information, it's important to understand what might attract or deter potential clients. A veterinary practice typically promotes its commitment to animal welfare, the expertise of its veterinarians and technicians, and the range of services it offers. Dove Creek Animal Hospital would likely emphasize its comprehensive care, potentially highlighting specialized equipment, advanced medical techniques, or a particular focus on preventative health. Testimonials, especially those reflecting compassionate care during difficult times, can be powerful promotional tools, showcasing the human element of their service. However, negative reviews, particularly those detailing concerns about cost, diagnostic accuracy, and staff conduct, can significantly impact a practice's reputation and should be considered by potential clients when making their decision. The conflicting nature of the reviews provided suggests that while some clients have deeply positive experiences, others encounter significant issues, making a balanced assessment important for prospective users.

In summary, Dove Creek Animal Hospital aims to provide essential veterinary services to the Amsterdam, NY community. Its offerings likely cover a broad spectrum of care, from routine check-ups and vaccinations to more complex medical and surgical procedures. While the facility has been praised for its compassionate approach and support during sensitive situations, particularly in end-of-life care, it has also faced criticism regarding pricing, diagnostic processes, and certain aspects of customer service. Prospective pet owners are encouraged to consider all available information, including both positive and negative customer experiences, to determine if Dove Creek Animal Hospital aligns with their specific needs and expectations for their pet's veterinary care. For inquiries, the hospital can be reached at (518) 627-9762 or +1 518-627-9762.

My poor experiences started in the Amsterdam location and ended in the Gloversville location. I tried to give them multiple opportunities to turn things around as I believe in redemptions. However, I made an unfortunate, expensive error. From negligence, to lack of documentation, to inefficiency, to poor standardization and beyond! It's no wonder they are always looking for veterinarians/techs to hire. Which is also astounding because they charge more for any exam and test than any vet I've been to; and I've recently lived on Long Island, Miami and West Palm Beach, some of the most expensive places in the USA to live in, with some of the "boujee-est" vets imaginable, and they STILL charged less. They dragged out treatment over multiple appointments, claiming the issue was their relief vets. Then when Dr. Sharpe so "graciously" decided to look at my dog because the first 2 were completely useless, she then threw multiple different medications at my dog because they "had no idea", only for my dog to finally get diagnosed with Pannus through an "urgent email" with the opthalmologist aka gouging me even more. For a veternarian who claimed to do all this research over the weekend for this eye problem they had no idea about they really didn't do much research at all. I gave them all the information they needed to make a proper diagnosis, including family history of eye issues (my dogs mom) and they still couldn't get it right. If you Google GSD Husky Eye issues or any similar iteration of that can you guess what the first thing that comes up is???? ***HINT HINT*** It's Pannus!!! I will be editing this review in the future with even more, details and time stamps for every appointment and interaction that occured from the beginning to the end. But, I did not want to wait to write something here in the hopes that even just one person will see this and choose to go elsewhere. But until then, super long story short: -- if your animal is healthy and you want to be charged and arm and a leg, go here. -- If your animal is unhealthy and you want to be charged both arms and both legs, slowly and painfully over multiple appointments, for them to still not be able to diagnose, go here. To top it all off, after being financially raped by them, I was treated awfully by one of their front office staff, Chase, who was extremely passive aggressive, rude, and even mocked a crying baby sound when I came to the office and confronted her on her inappropriate behavior. And then when I requested a call from their manager I never received one. Instead they will defend their poorly behaved employees. P.S. Please, do not insult me further by attempting to respond and defend yourselves.

I’ve been bringing my dog to Dove Creek since I got her - almost 2 years now. They are always so kind and wonderful every time we go. They answer any questions we have and go over all of the options available. Recently, my dog had an emergency on a Friday afternoon. We were scrambling trying to get her in to get seen. We called Dove Creek and spoke with Krystin and she tried helping is get in. We were able to get scheduled in last minute at the Gloversville location when we typically go to the one in Amsterdam. What I appreciated the most was that Krystin sent us a text about 2 hours after our phone call, saying she saw we were able to get seen and wished us good luck. I thought it was so nice for her just to even send that quick text to let us know she was thinking about my dog - it really showed that they care! Doggo is perfectly fine now and we really thank Krystin for going above and beyond! We appreciate you :)

I took my cat here for an initial appointment after adoption. The staff was all very nice and the vet took time to explain what he was doing and answer any questions I had. I love the fact they have separate rooms for cats and dogs. As nice as they are, I hope not to have to see them until next year when my cat is due for more shots.

The vets and techs were absolutely wonderful. They are so patient and kind, they went out of their way to make my dog comfortable and feel safe. I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am for that.
