We have recently left DeWitt Animal Hospital because we found the staff to be unwelcoming, unkind and honestly did not actually seem to like animals! Typically, a pet hospital setting includes examination rooms where veterinarians can assess and treat animals, a reception area for check-ins and inquiries, and potentially surgical suites, diagnostic imaging areas, and recovery wards depending on the scope of services offered.
Based on the platform category of "Pet Hospital," DeWitt Animal Hospital, P.C. is expected to offer a variety of veterinary services. These services generally encompass preventative care, which includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control (such as flea, tick, and heartworm prevention), and nutritional counseling. Diagnostic services are also crucial, often involving laboratory tests (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), imaging techniques (like X-rays and ultrasound), and other procedures to identify health issues. Medical treatments for various illnesses and conditions would be a core offering, potentially including medication prescriptions, therapies, and management of chronic diseases.
Furthermore, pet hospitals often provide surgical services, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex surgeries depending on the hospital's capabilities and the expertise of the veterinary staff. Dental care is another important aspect of pet health, and services like teeth cleaning, extractions, and treatment of dental diseases might be available. This reviewer also mentions a veterinarian who was perceived as dismissive, unwilling to answer questions, prone to recommending expensive tests, and rushed during appointments, contributing to an overall "cold, unwelcoming and dismissive" atmosphere.
Another, more गंभीर review recounts a distressing experience involving a dog previously diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The review details a situation where the hospital allegedly insisted on bloodwork, following which the dog's condition severely deteriorated, ultimately leading to the dog's death. The reviewer expresses a strong belief that the bloodwork procedure at the hospital directly contributed to this tragic outcome, implying a lack of necessity or mishandling of the situation. This account raises serious concerns about the hospital's diagnostic protocols, communication with pet owners, and the potential for unintended negative consequences of their procedures.
Given these reviews, it is crucial for potential local users to approach DeWitt Animal Hospital, P.C. with caution and consider these experiences when making decisions about their pet's care. Dec 11, 2024 · Katherine SmithMy son’s dog was previously diagnosed with congestive heart failure by this vet several months ago. As a result, they prescribed 3 different medications as a precaution treatment. Recently, my son ran out of pills for couple of days of 1 of the 3 meds. He called the hospital to get a refill and they only would give him 5 pills. After the dog took those pills she was doing well. I had her the day, my son took the dog back for bloodwork in order to get the remaining meds. The dog walked in with a leash and when they brought the dog back to his car, she was lethargic and couldn’t walk. Obviously something happened within the hospital. Then he requested the vet to come out and was told either bring her home or to the ER. As a result they had to put the dog down due to her new condition. If they didn’t insist on bloodwork , I believe the dog would have been able to go home. I believe the dogs heart was stressed at this visit and she collapsed. My son didn’t want the bloodwork it was forced. The dog had a cough prior to this visit and was always happy to see me with a playful manner, even on the day they put her down . You be the judge, coincidental?. I’m so saddened by these sequence of events.
Nov 04, 2023 · John MulpaganoStaff are very helpful and friendly! My cat Oliver and I were in and out quickly and the calm demeanor of the Dr. was helpful for keeping Oliver unstressed. Everything was explained to me thoroughly and I feel Oliver is in good hands with them.
Sep 19, 2024 · EKPI have a difficult Chihuahua named Tiko and the team was so professional and dodged his shark week attempts with grace and dignity. They were able to get him vaccinated and had him back in moments!!! The prices are reasonable and the staff is very professional, I highly recommend Dewitt Animal Hospital 🏥!
Aug 01, 2022 · enchanted streamTook my dog here, the vet told me she suspected brain cancer. She then recommended euthanasia. I was charged 700 dollars just for my dog to be seen & evaluated. I went to my vet the next day, to discover my dog had a double ear infection. Had they had done a full exam at this facility, they would have discovered that also. Please get a second opinion from your primary veterinarian before going here. These people are too quick to recommend euthanasia. Totally disgusted with their lack of knowledge & carelessness.
