Such friendly staff. Moved here from a bigger city and love that the place is more old school. Took my dog in to have some things looked at and to get him scheduled for a later date like most places do, but the vet was able to do surgery same day. I am so happy to have a vet for my fur babies that I feel does not see my animal as a number but a family member. Thank you to everyone at this sweet clinic.

Welcome to Davidson Animal Hospital
Welcome to Davidson Animal Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 114 Anna Lewis Dr, Lexington, NC 27292, USA. You can contact them at (336) 249-7078 or +1 336-249-7078. As a local Pet Hospital, Davidson Animal Hospital aims to provide veterinary services and potentially related goods for the pet-owning community in Lexington, NC. The customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the clinic's service, which should be considered by potential new clients.
Based on the positive review, Davidson Animal Hospital presents an environment that some clients perceive as "more old school" and friendly. This might suggest a more personal and less overtly corporate atmosphere compared to some larger veterinary practices. The reviewer appreciated that the veterinarian was able to perform surgery on their dog on the same day of the initial visit, which is not typical and indicates a degree of flexibility and potentially readily available surgical facilities or scheduling. This positive experience highlights a clinic where at least one veterinarian is seen as genuinely caring about the animals as family members rather than just cases.
However, another review paints a significantly different picture, focusing on a negative interaction with a specific staff member. This long-term client, who had been seeing Dr. Hedrick for over 15 years and generally satisfied with his work, reported a deeply upsetting experience when calling about a dog with sudden mobility issues and signs of pain. The reviewer, who was crying and concerned about potential euthanasia, felt the staff member was unprofessional and inconsiderate of their distress, focusing instead on a deposit for a scheduled surgery for a different dog. The staff member allegedly suggested going to another animal hospital and, later, reportedly canceled the second dog's surgery due to the client hanging up during the earlier upsetting call. This review raises serious concerns about the professionalism and empathy of at least one member of the support staff and suggests potential issues with communication and customer service. The reviewer ultimately decided to seek veterinary care elsewhere, citing a perception that the clinic was primarily interested in money.
Considering these contrasting experiences, it's important to approach a description of the services and features of Davidson Animal Hospital objectively. Based on the positive review and the general nature of a Pet Hospital, Davidson Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services, which typically include:
- General Medical Care: Addressing illnesses and injuries in pets.
- Preventative Care: Vaccinations, parasite control, and wellness exams.
- Surgical Services: As indicated by the same-day surgery, they likely offer various surgical procedures.
- Diagnostic Services: To identify health issues through examination and potentially lab work or imaging.
The positive review also suggests a feature of potentially being able to accommodate urgent surgical needs more quickly than some other facilities. The long-term relationship of one reviewer with Dr. Hedrick implies that there is at least one experienced and trusted veterinarian at the practice.
However, the negative review strongly suggests a potential issue with the professionalism and customer service provided by at least one staff member, which significantly impacted a long-term client's experience and their decision to leave the practice. It also hints at potential issues with appointment wait times and communication.

For local users in Lexington, NC, Davidson Animal Hospital, located on Anna Lewis Dr, presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. One client praised the friendly staff and the veterinarian's willingness to perform same-day surgery, highlighting a sense of personalized care. Potential clients may want to weigh these experiences when considering Davidson Animal Hospital for their pet's needs.

Mar 22, 2025 · TabathaI have went to Dr. Hedrick for over 15 years and he has done a wonderful job on all of my animals. His Staff on the other hand, or 1 in particular is very unprofessional and very inconsiderate of peoples feelings. I called up there the other day to have them to check one of my dogs out because she had just all of a sudden started having trouble walking and it was getting worse and she was crying out and I called the vet crying my eyes out telling them what was going on and I was afraid I might have to get her euthanized because she seemed to be in pain. I already had a surgery set up for her sister in 2 days and all she was worried about was to let me know I needed to make a deposit on her sisters surgery. I told the lady that this call had nothing to do with the other dog it was for her sister. She then told me that I should go to Salisbury Animal Hospital because they take walk ins and that they were more affordable. I said excuse me? You’re telling me to take my dog to another vet and I’m upset thinking I might have to get her put to sleep. And I know for a fact that they take walk ins especially when it’s an emergency like I had. I’ve had to wait hours before up there because they had emergencies come in. The last time I was there was about a month ago and I had an appointment and still waited almost 3 1/2 hours and when I finally got in there, they said oh, we forgot you were out there. Do today was the day that my dogs surgery was scheduled for and I call up there making sure I didn’t need to drop her off at a certain time and this same woman got on the phone and tells me she cancelled my dogs surgery because I hung up on her when she was so rude to me 2 days before but I was gonna keep my appointment. Needless to say, I’ll never go back and I have a new vet. When all they are interested in is money, that’s when I know it’s time to go elsewhere.
Jan 17, 2025 · Gina CookExcellent Veterinarian! He has great wisdom science and natural God given wisdom! Great patience and spends time with you. A diligent veterinarian. He is also training his staff I’m sure to take over or be in the office as Dr. Maybe one day. I left with wisdom and I now can help others if they have questions with their pets in the same area as I had with mine. Very Thankful! We need more people in our world like this! The staff was very kind ! A+ even when they were super, super busy. They were exceptional also!
Sep 23, 2024 · Betty SLet me just start by saying I have the utmost respect and love for dr Hedrick as he saved my baby’s life on more than one occasion. With that being said he has a bad apple in his crew that has zero compassion for animal lovers and their baby’s. My mom has been going to dr Hedrick for 15 years and has never had an issue until she spoke to an extremely rude and disrespectful individual over the phone. Her name was Christy. My mom called to see about bringing one of her dogs in for an emergency and was completely shut down and disrespected in regards to her bringing her other baby in for surgery. She was dismissed about seeing her other dog for the emergency to keep bringing up the fact that a down payment was due for the surgery on the other dog. My mom was crying on the phone worrying about her other dog and wanting to bring her in to get checked out and this Christy girl was beyond unprofessional. Her other dogs surgery was scheduled for today but Christy canceled it for no reason at all. So not only did she turn away the emergency she canceled an already planned surgery without the doctors consent. This woman is the reason that my mother and I, and many others we know that went there will never go back. If you don’t care about animals then don’t be in this field of work point blank. Purely disgusting person.
Jan 18, 2025 · Stephanie CookI have taken my 6-month-old kitten to this animal hospital twice now. The first time I had an appointment at 9 and did not see the vet until nearly 11. The waiting didn't initially bother me as I understand they are busy. However, this second appointment stressed me (and my kitten) out that I do not think we will be returning. I made the appointment to get a consultation for Entropion surgery for my kitten. I also wanted to address his slight wheezing lately (most likely a URI). The consult went well at first. When asking about the wheezing, I also requested bloodwork since his lymph nodes are slightly enlarged. They took him back, then returned to say they needed to sedate him slightly. While sedated, I sat with my kitten. They then returned to start the blood draw. It took three vet technicians to restrain an 8lb kitten, and even then they failed. I watched the blood draw and the vet missed the vein several times. Of course, my kitten is going to freak out! So then they say they need to give him some gas to do a simple blood draw. I have worked in vet hospitals before, this is not a normal procedure. It also should not take several vet techs to restrain a relatively calm and friendly kitten. Finally, they got a bit of blood. While checking out, I requested that the vet's notes and the blood test results be emailed to me so I could file a claim with our pet insurance. I also requested an estimate for the surgery. A day later, I was emailed urinalysis results but no blood test results. I also did not receive an estimate for the surgery. I wish I could say that these were my only concerns. My kitten was also not treated for his URI. No medication was given or prescribed. When I asked how much I should be feeding him (because one of the techs said he was overweight), the vet instead asked me what I feed him and then proceeded to push the Hills science diet instead of actually answering my question. This doctor, while a kind man, is obviously at the age that he needs to retire. During both this visit and our first, he constantly had to ask about the weight of the pet several times. The layout of the hospital is atrocious. The doors to the "exam room" are left open, and in exam room 1 there is an entire back hallway (more like a makeshift hallway) that leads into what looks like a storage area. I couldn't let my kitten roam and had to keep him in my lap so he wouldn't wander. After reading other reviews, we have decided to take our pets elsewhere for safety reasons.
