I took my Yorkie to Crosskeys on Monday because he was breathing weird. The doctor said he looked fine and diagnosed him as being stressed. He never took any test, drew any blood etc…just took his temperature. The next day we had to return because he seemed to be having more difficulty breathing and was not sleeping well. He would not eat or drink and was not his playful self..same as Monday. Again the doctor felt he was fine..I knew he was not. He then said he would do bloodwork finally! Which showed his white blood count was up..he gave antibiotics and mentioned if he wasn’t better he may have to do X-rays…I asked for them to be done then and not wait. Like why are we waiting when we are already here! I’m refused to keep going back..let’s do it now. He said he didn’t expect to see what he did..a spot on his lungs. Some type of virus or pneumonia going on and if it got worse I would need to take him to specialists to look further. Well a few hours later he was worse! Panting and breathing like it was his last breath. I called them again and was referred to VSS that found the issue. My Yorkie had emergency surgery went into shock and died. There was some type of small bone lodged in his throat. He had been with the sitter while we were away and ingested something maybe when out to potty. I called today to let them know what had happened and they said they knew and had gotten the report from the ER. No offer of condolences no compassion for my loss!!! I feel this vet failed us because he didn’t believe my dog was sick. I showed him video of how my dog was acting at home and he barely looked at it! My purpose for this review is to tell others if your dog is really sick because we know our pets!!! Don’t settle for uncaring doctors who say nothing is really wrong! Be persistent and take them right to the ER. This office is good for shots etc..but if your dog is really sick..do not go here! You may loose your pet like I did and trust me they don’t give two hoots!!! Two visits my bill was approximately $870!!!! If only he had taken me serious the first visit!! My heart is broken! Please beware and be persistent for your dogs health.

Cross Keys Animal Clinic Introduce

Welcome to the introduction of Cross Keys Animal Clinic, a pet hospital located at 2685 N Hwy 67, Florissant, MO 63033, USA. For local users in the Florissant area searching within the "Pet Hospital" platform category, Cross Keys Animal Clinic offers veterinary care services for pets. This introduction aims to provide a detailed and objective overview of the clinic based on recent customer reviews available online. It is important to note that the feedback presents a stark contrast in experiences, which will be reflected in this introduction to ensure an unbiased representation of the information.

For local users in Singapore seeking to understand the spectrum of experiences that can occur when engaging with veterinary services, even across geographical boundaries, the contrasting reviews of Cross Keys Animal Clinic offer a valuable case study. Aspects such as the importance of accurate diagnosis, the need for thorough examination and testing, the communication between veterinarians and pet owners, and the overall compassion shown by a veterinary practice are critical considerations for pet owners worldwide.

Environment: Not Explicitly Described, Focus on Service Experience

The provided reviews do not offer any specific details about the physical environment or facilities of Cross Keys Animal Clinic. The feedback primarily focuses on the interactions with the veterinary staff and the services provided, rather than the clinic's ambiance, cleanliness, or waiting areas. Therefore, we cannot provide a description of the clinic's environment based on the available information.

Services: Routine Care and Treatment of Illnesses, but Varied Experiences

Based on the customer reviews, Cross Keys Animal Clinic appears to offer a range of veterinary services, including:

  • Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: The clinic handles cases where pets present with symptoms of illness. However, as indicated by one critical review, the thoroughness and accuracy of the initial diagnosis can vary significantly.
  • Bloodwork and Potential for X-rays: The clinic has the capability to perform bloodwork and, when deemed necessary, conduct X-rays to aid in diagnosis. However, the timing and initiation of these tests appear to be a point of concern for at least one customer.
  • Administration of Medications: Antibiotics are mentioned as part of the treatment plan for one pet, indicating the clinic can prescribe and administer medications.
  • Routine Care (Implied): While not the focus of the detailed reviews, the positive review mentioning reasonable prices for a multi-pet household suggests that the clinic likely offers routine care such as vaccinations and check-ups, as indicated by the negative reviewer stating the clinic is "good for shots etc.."
  • Treatment Plan and Cost Discussion: The positive review highlights that the vet "goes over a treatment plan with prices to make sure I can afford it," indicating a transparent approach to discussing costs and treatment options with pet owners.

Features: Contrasting Perspectives on Thoroughness, Affordability, and Compassion

The customer reviews present contrasting views on the features of Cross Keys Animal Clinic:

  • Thoroughness of Examination: One reviewer felt the initial examination of their very ill Yorkie was inadequate, lacking essential tests like bloodwork or X-rays despite clear signs of distress. This raises concerns about the clinic's standard protocol for diagnosing illnesses. In contrast, another reviewer describes the vet as "wonderful and thorough." This discrepancy suggests a potential inconsistency in the level of care provided or differing perceptions based on the nature of the pet's condition and the veterinarian seen.
  • Affordability: The positive review explicitly mentions that the prices are "very reasonable," particularly for a pet owner with multiple animals. This suggests that cost-conscious pet owners might find the clinic's pricing to be a significant advantage.
  • Transparency in Treatment Costs: The practice of discussing treatment plans and associated costs upfront is a positive feature, allowing pet owners to make informed decisions based on their budget.
  • Compassion and Communication: The negative review is particularly critical of the lack of compassion shown by the clinic staff after the customer's Yorkie died following a misdiagnosis and emergency surgery at another facility. The absence of condolences or any expression of sympathy is a significant point of concern raised by this reviewer. In contrast, the positive review focuses on the vet's thoroughness and affordability, not specifically addressing compassion.

Promotional Information: Implicit Promotion Through Affordability and Thoroughness (Contradicted by Negative Experience)

The positive review implicitly promotes Cross Keys Animal Clinic by highlighting its thoroughness (though this is contradicted by another review) and reasonable prices, suggesting it could be a good option for pet owners seeking quality care at an affordable cost. The willingness to discuss treatment plans and costs also promotes transparency and trust. However, the severe negative experience detailed in the other review significantly counteracts any positive implicit promotion. The lack of compassion shown in the face of a pet's death and the concerns raised about the initial misdiagnosis are serious issues that would likely deter potential customers, regardless of affordability.

For local users in Singapore, the contrasting experiences at Cross Keys Animal Clinic underscore the importance of seeking multiple opinions when a pet's illness is not clearly diagnosed and of prioritizing clinics that demonstrate both medical competence and genuine compassion for animals and their owners. The balance between cost and quality of care is also a crucial consideration.

In conclusion, Cross Keys Animal Clinic in Florissant, MO, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one reviewer praises the vet's thoroughness and the clinic's reasonable prices and transparent cost discussions, another provides a deeply concerning account of a misdiagnosis, inadequate initial examination, and a lack of compassion following the death of their pet. This stark contrast highlights the potential for varied experiences at this clinic. Local users in the Florissant area should carefully consider these differing perspectives when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care. The negative review serves as a critical warning about the importance of advocating for one's pet's health and seeking immediate and thorough diagnostics when serious symptoms are present. Wonderful and thorough vet. I have 3 animals so everything can get pricey. The vet goes over a treatment plan with prices to make sure I can afford it. The prices are very reasonable. Defiantly would recommend to family and friends.

We've been going to Crosskeys for 13 years, wonderful doctors, Bridget is very knowledgeable and always polite and caring, however there's a receptionist employed now that needs a attitude adjustment. Besides that everyone in the office, Dr.Capel,Steve, Renee and Bridget along with past employees have been WONDERFUL.
