Mar 02, 2025 · Stacey Jo ThompsonWe had our first visit to Compassionate Care with Mabel (Australian Shephard puppy). The staff during the setup for the appointment and the day of the appointment were super. Very friendly, helpful, and answered all our questions. They took the time to be sure we understood the care of Mabel since it has been a decade since we have had a puppy. We are looking forward to have Dr. John as our new veterinarian for Mabel and our 10 year old black lab, Stella. Thank you to Dr. John and the staff for all you do. It shows you care about the pets and there owners.
Feb 06, 2025 · Cathy SchultzI deeply regret bringing my pets here. There were red flags from the start: when I called about my cat showing signs of a UTI — a potentially life-threatening emergency in cats — the clinic showed no urgency. They told me I could drop her off for a full day of monitoring in a few days, instead of simply obtaining a urine sample and starting treatment promptly. This outdated and stressful approach immediately concerned me. During a later visit, the veterinarian demonstrated both outdated medical knowledge and shockingly unprofessional behavior. He incorrectly claimed that FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) could spread through sharing food and water bowls. When I mentioned my understanding — supported by every modern veterinary source — that FIV spreads primarily through deep bite wounds or birth, he responded condescendingly: "I'm sorry, I don't know who told you that." It was clear he had no interest in a respectful dialogue or evidence-based discussion. When we discussed my other cat’s worsening kidney values, things became even more concerning. I asked if the prescription diet he recommended contained poultry, as my cat has a documented poultry allergy that causes her to scratch her ears bloody. He dismissed the allergy outright, claiming he didn't believe it was real — ignoring both clear medical history and observable symptoms. When I said I would like to review the ingredients before committing to the food, he raised his voice, saying "What's there to look into?" and when I mentioned having read that increased wet food intake can sometimes help manage kidney disease, he snapped, "We can lock horns all day but I'm not going to get into it with you." He stormed out of the room and was overheard telling his technician, "This is the crap I gotta deal with every day — Doctor Google!" — a wildly unprofessional and disrespectful comment aimed at a client simply trying to advocate for their cat’s needs. After this, I was left sitting alone in the exam room for over ten minutes. Finally, a technician (who was kind, apologetic, and clearly uncomfortable with the situation) came in and said, "Did he tell you you're free to go?" She also kindly offered to help me send my pets' records elsewhere. It was obvious even the staff were affected by the doctor's behavior. Veterinary care should be a partnership between informed owners and compassionate professionals. Instead, I was met with dismissiveness, outdated information, hostility, and a complete lack of professionalism. I will not be returning — and I strongly caution others to seek care elsewhere.
