I wouldn't go to any other vet? Doc is always professional and the best! Within a year we had to put both our girls to sleep and were allowed as much time as needed after, to love on our babies. When we decided to get 2 new puppies we knew where to bring them! Kris and Karen know every animal's name when they come in. The vet staff is great. 20/10 would recommend.

Welcome to Collar City Animal Hospital

Welcome to an examination of Collar City Animal Hospital, a Pet Hospital located in Troy, NY. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed understanding of the veterinary care potentially available, drawing from the information accessible online, particularly from customer reviews. We will explore aspects related to the environment, services, features, and any discernible information that might resemble promotional sentiments or lack thereof, based solely on the provided text.

Collar City Animal Hospital is situated at 499 2nd Ave, Troy, NY 12182, USA. They can be contacted via phone at (518) 235-1710 or their mobile number +1 518-235-1710.

Environment:

The provided customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the environment and atmosphere of Collar City Animal Hospital. One reviewer paints a picture of a caring and familiar environment, noting that staff members like Kris and Karen know each animal's name upon arrival. This suggests a personal touch and a sense of community. The reviewer also mentioned the compassion shown during a difficult time when they had to put two pets to sleep, highlighting that they were given ample time to be with their animals. This positive account indicates a supportive and understanding environment during sensitive moments.

However, another review describes a deeply upsetting experience. This customer sought urgent care for their injured dog but was denied an appointment by the receptionist, reportedly due to their last visit being four years prior. The reviewer felt the receptionist was indifferent and dismissive, even after explaining the reasons for the lapse in visits. This account portrays an environment that, in this instance, lacked compassion and professionalism, leading the customer to state they would not want their dog treated there. These contrasting views suggest that while some aspects of the hospital, particularly the direct veterinary care and familiarity of some staff, might be positive, the administrative interactions can vary significantly.

Services:

Based on the positive review and the general nature of a Pet Hospital, Collar City Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services, which may include:

  • General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups to monitor your pet's health.
  • Vaccinations: To protect pets from common diseases.
  • Preventive Care: Such as parasite control (flea, tick, heartworm).
  • Euthanasia and Aftercare: As mentioned in one review, they provide a supportive environment during this difficult process.
  • Treatment of Illnesses and Injuries: The negative review indicates a need for urgent care for a potentially severe injury, suggesting that the hospital typically handles such cases, although the outcome in this instance was negative due to the appointment denial.

The reviews do not provide a comprehensive list of all services offered, such as surgical or dental care. However, the mention of routine care for puppies and the need for urgent injury assessment implies a scope beyond just basic wellness.

Features:

From the customer feedback, we can infer some features of Collar City Animal Hospital:

  • Experienced Veterinarian(s): The positive review refers to "Doc" as always professional and the best, indicating confidence in the veterinary expertise.
  • Familiar and Caring Staff: Kris and Karen are mentioned by name, with the reviewer noting their ability to remember each animal's name, suggesting a personal and attentive approach by some staff members.
  • Compassionate End-of-Life Care: The hospital is recognized for allowing owners ample time with their pets during euthanasia.

On the other hand, a potential negative feature highlighted by the second review is the perceived lack of flexibility or compassion in certain administrative policies, particularly regarding appointment scheduling for past clients needing urgent care.

Promotional Information:

The provided text does not contain any explicit promotional offers or discounts. However, the enthusiastic recommendation from one reviewer ("20/10 would recommend") serves as a strong positive endorsement, which could implicitly attract new clients based on their positive experience. Conversely, the strongly negative review would likely deter potential clients who prioritize compassionate and flexible service, especially in urgent situations.

For local users in Troy, NY, Collar City Animal Hospital at 499 2nd Ave presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. One long-term client expresses high satisfaction with the professionalism of the veterinarian and the caring nature of some staff, particularly highlighting their compassionate approach during end-of-life care and their personal connection with the animals. This suggests that many pet owners have had positive experiences with the medical care and certain aspects of the service.

However, another customer recounted a very negative experience when seeking urgent care, citing a lack of compassion and inflexible policies from the receptionist. This incident raises concerns about the consistency of the customer service, particularly in urgent situations and regarding the handling of past client relationships. Potential clients may want to consider these differing experiences when deciding on a veterinary care provider.

Given these contrasting viewpoints, it's advisable for local pet owners to weigh the positive feedback regarding the quality of veterinary care and the familiarity of some staff against the negative experience concerning appointment handling and perceived lack of empathy in one instance. If you are considering Collar City Animal Hospital, you might want to inquire about their policies on urgent care for established clients and the general approach to customer service when you contact them at (518) 235-1710.

In summary, Collar City Animal Hospital in Troy, NY, appears to have a dedicated veterinary team that has provided positive experiences for many pet owners, particularly in terms of the medical care and a personal touch from some staff members. However, a recent negative review highlights potential issues with administrative flexibility and customer service in urgent situations. Local users should consider these different perspectives when evaluating this Pet Hospital for their pet care needs.

Today, after having invested thousands of dollars over time at this location, I encountered a deeply upsetting situation. I called to seek urgent care for my dog, who suffered a potentially severe injury last night, possibly a broken hip. Unfortunately, the receptionist, citing our last visit being four years ago, bluntly denied us an appointment. Despite my attempts to explain our absence due to the overwhelming challenges of caring for my mother amidst the pandemic, ultimately leading to her passing, the receptionist remained indifferent and dismissive. Her insistence that they were not accepting new patients, coupled with her rudeness, left me astonished. This is the most disheartening experience I've ever had in the care of my pets. The justification that a missed communication—allegedly a card sent to our six-generation family home, or a claim of an unattended appointment which is inaccurate—was used to deny service, reflects a lack of compassion and professionalism. Given the negative attitude and lack of empathy displayed, I cannot endorse this facility for pet care. The environment they foster is not one where I would want my dog to be treated.

I recently had adopted a 9-year-old cat after much consideration. I am now in a wheelchair myself, and getting around is very difficult. But this vet is close enough that I could actually take the cat in his carrier to the vet on my motorized wheelchair if needed. So I attempted to communicate with them, I felt like I needed to send a message, twice, and then I left a voicemail because I called just that their closing time. No responses. So finally I was able to get a hold of them during the day, only to be told they are not accepting you clients. Despite my condition and the hardship of getting my pet to any other vet, their answer was firm. After looking at the reviews of this place, it looks like it's hit and miss as to when they will accept new clients. I am so disappointed. Plus, you notice you don't see any replies to the reviews?

Love the people there. They took care of Oreo like it's one of there own. Thank you so much for caring and giving us support. My baby girl got hit by a car. And I was a reck. But they were so supportive. I just love going to them. Thanks again for everything you done. Pattie Kelly

Dr. Linendoll and the entire staff are fantastic! We would never entrust our fur family to any other vet, they are truly sensitive to every situation and share the same love and compassion for animals as we do! Our dog hates the vet and she tries to spend the time to make him comfortable, which many wouldn't bother doing.
