5/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Warning: Long post ahead. I am writing this post as a review for Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical and Wellness Center. I hope this review will reach the local community and can help out others that may need vet care for their animal(s). On Friday, November 15, my beagle puppy, Gunner, had a tragic accident following his neutering appointment. He fell from a moving car window after his “brother”, my 8 month old beagle, Bandit, rolled down the car window. (Yes, I have learned my lesson and my dogs will always be restrained in the car, please do the same if you don’t already). Following his accident, I rushed him to an emergency vet and found that he had fractured his femur and surgery was going to cost over $5,000! I could not afford that and was desperate to find a cheaper but quality option. I made multiple phone calls on Saturday, November 16, and was told the same thing, surgery was going to be $5000+ or that their surgeon couldn’t get him in until after November 25. That just wasn’t an option for us. After calling multiple vet offices, I spoke to the receptionist at Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical and Wellness Center. She spoke to their vet and not only were they able to get him in on Monday, November 18 but they could do it for a fraction of the cost! I was quoted at the time $2,000. I dropped him off on Monday, November 18 for a consult and surgery to follow. Unfortunately, the plate needed for surgery wasn’t available but they called their supplier and overnighted it! They boarded him for the night until surgery. I was updated promptly during the entire process. Surgery happened yesterday 11/19, and Dr Meakin called me personally following his surgery. Gunner overall did very well. He was discharged at 4pm and was sent home with multiple pain medications and antibiotics. He was also given a medication to help keep him resting/sleepy so that he can heal. He is on strict physical restrictions for 2 weeks. This location has a very homelike feel and are a comprehensive all in one vet center! It was well worth the hour drive for the quality care we received. From the receptionists to the vet tech to the the veterinarian, Dr. Meakin everyone was so nice and treated my fur baby like family. Dr. Meakin did Gunner’s surgery and did such a fantastic job on his fractured leg. I could have not asked for a better experience during this traumatic event. Please, if you are looking for quality vet care, please check out this location! Thank you Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical and Wellness Center.

Operating under the platform category of "Pet Hospital," this center distinguishes itself by offering a unique combination of advanced surgical capabilities and general wellness services. Based on the heartfelt and detailed testimonials from real customers, Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical & Wellness Center is highly regarded for its compassionate care, skilled veterinary team, affordability, and a welcoming, home-like environment. If you are a pet owner in Cincinnati, Ohio, or the surrounding areas seeking a veterinary facility that can handle both routine wellness needs and complex surgical cases with expertise and empathy, this center warrants serious consideration.

The environment of Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical & Wellness Center is described by a reviewer as having a "very homelike feel." This suggests a conscious effort to create a comfortable and less clinical atmosphere, which can be particularly beneficial for anxious pets and their owners. While specific details about the layout and décor are not provided, the emphasis on a home-like feel implies a welcoming and reassuring space designed to minimize stress and promote a sense of ease during visits. This could include comfortable waiting areas, calming colors, and a generally warm and inviting ambiance.

Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical & Wellness Center offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, catering to both proactive wellness and critical surgical needs. As indicated by its name, a significant feature is its surgical expertise. The detailed account of a beagle puppy requiring femur fracture surgery highlights the center's ability to handle complex orthopedic procedures. The fact that they were able to accommodate the surgery on short notice, secure necessary equipment quickly (overnighting a surgical plate), and perform the procedure at a significantly lower cost than initial emergency estimates underscores their surgical capabilities and commitment to providing accessible care. The personal follow-up call from Dr. Meakin after the surgery further demonstrates their dedication to patient well-being and clear communication with pet owners.

Beyond surgical services, the name also emphasizes "Wellness Center," indicating a focus on preventative and general health care. This likely includes routine wellness examinations, vaccinations tailored to individual pet needs and lifestyles, parasite prevention (covering fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other common pests), and nutritional counseling. Given the comprehensive nature suggested, they may also offer services such as dental care (including routine cleanings and extractions), microchipping for pet identification, and management of chronic conditions.

A significant feature of Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical & Wellness Center, repeatedly praised in the reviews, is the exceptional veterinary team. Customers highlight the kindness, patience, and skill of everyone they encountered, from the receptionists to the vet technicians and the veterinarians, particularly Dr. Meakin. The staff's ability to ease even "cranky" or nervous pets into their care is a testament to their gentle and experienced approach. The reviewers consistently felt that their "fur babies" were treated like family, indicating a high level of compassion and personalized attention.

The responsiveness and willingness to go above and beyond for their patients are also notable features. The account of the beagle puppy's emergency surgery demonstrates their ability to act quickly and efficiently in critical situations. The fact that they were able to schedule a complex surgery on short notice and at a significantly lower cost than other facilities highlights their commitment to both quality and accessible care. This responsiveness extends beyond emergencies, as another reviewer mentioned their ability to ease their anxious rescue dog into their care, making vet visits a positive experience.

Affordability is another key aspect that stands out in the customer testimonials. The significant cost difference for the femur fracture surgery compared to the initial emergency vet estimate is a major factor in the positive review. This suggests that Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical & Wellness Center strives to provide high-quality care at reasonable prices, making it a valuable option for pet owners concerned about the financial aspects of veterinary treatment.

While specific promotional offers are not mentioned in the provided reviews, it is common for veterinary centers to have various promotions or packages available. Amazing veterinarian team!!! They know the perfect tricks to ease any pet into their care. My one rescue is a cranky patty when it comes to the vet and she has an amazing time and both my dogs were super relaxed. We now drive an hour for our vet because this team is a rare find!

I took my two bunnies in to get spayed recently, which was very nerve wracking as you never know how prey animals will react to the anesthesia. The staff and doctors took such good care of my bunnies, made sure to provide me with all the information I needed for the aftercare, and continued checked up on them after the surgery. I was so pleased and ultimately can sleep better at night knowing the spay surgery was the right choice for their health and longevity.

We took our Cat Oreo here to be seen. Very kind and professional staff. The people who work here have passion for what they do. We will be back with Mr. Oreo very soon.

I've used this vet service for the past 4 years or so. Dr. Meakin has done excellent emergency care for my dog - really knows his stuff in an emergency. That said, this practice is primarily focused on $$$ and used a shady practice on me (and others, too?)... I recently ordered meds for my dog from an online vendor. They sent in a request to Cinti Vet for a refill and guess what happened? I get a message from Cincy Vet (who also sells pet meds) with a link to "checkout for your purchase here", meaning "you're going to buy this from us, not the online vendor you chose." I called the online vendor - they had requested the refill prescription authorization days earlier, with no reply from Cincy Vet. (Cincy Vet wanted to make this sale, obviously.) I then called Cincy Vet who informed me that "Our docs hate that online vendor, ________. We wanted to give you the option to buy it from us." Which is NOT AT ALL how it felt when they sent me the text to checkout with them to purchase the meds. This was very, very shady - not approving a refill so I'd have to buy it from them instead? Really? They've lost my trust because of this underhanded effort to make the sale. Beyond that, on eveach and ery visit they try to upsell me for blood work or various tests they want to do. My typical ongoing dog care visit there runs into $300-400/visit. I have to intentionally and firmly refuse all their extras and just focus on what my dog really needs that day and truthfully, they're the experts on this, not me. I hate having to sift through their recommendations to determine what's really necessary and what's just to drive up the cost of the visit. If my dog ever has another emergency, I'll go to Dr. Meakin. But for regular ongoing Vet Care this practice has proven they value $$$ more than being fair - and if I hadn't been paying close attention to the message to "checkout for your meds" I would've inadvertently bought them for Cincy Vet.
