Chittenango Animal Hospital offers a broad spectrum of services that cater to the diverse health needs of companion animals. These services encompass preventive care, diagnostics, medical treatments, and surgical interventions, all aimed at maintaining and improving the health and quality of life for pets.
Preventive and Wellness Care: This is a cornerstone of their practice. They provide thorough wellness examinations, which are essential for early detection of potential health issues. Vaccinations are administered with a holistic mindset, and recommendations are carefully tailored to each pet's age, health, and lifestyle, avoiding over-vaccination while ensuring robust protection against serious diseases. They also emphasize preventive medications for heartworm, intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks, especially given their prevalence. Nutritional counseling is available to help pet owners make informed dietary choices for optimal health.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose conditions, Chittenango Animal Hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic tools. They have a fully stocked in-house laboratory for rapid blood work, urinalysis, and other essential tests, allowing for quick and efficient diagnoses. Digital radiography (X-rays) is utilized for examining bones, organs, and identifying various internal conditions. They also offer diagnostic ultrasound, which is ideal for detailed imaging of internal organs and soft tissues. This advanced imaging capability allows them to see inside the body without invasive surgery.
Medical and Therapeutic Services: The hospital provides comprehensive medical care for a wide range of illnesses and conditions. A notable feature is their integration of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) alongside Western medicine. This holistic approach includes services like acupuncture, chiropractic, and rehabilitation therapy, offering alternative or complementary treatments for various conditions such as pain management, neurological issues, and chronic diseases. They also offer laser therapy (Class IV laser), a non-painful treatment that can help stimulate cell regeneration, increase blood circulation, strengthen tissues, and improve mobility for conditions like arthritis, back pain, and post-operative recovery. PiezoWave-2 Shockwave Therapy is another advanced rehabilitation service offered.
Surgical Services: Chittenango Animal Hospital performs various surgical procedures, including general surgeries. They offer the option of performing surgeries with a surgical laser (CO2 laser), which can minimize bleeding and post-operative pain by sealing small blood vessels and nerve endings as it cuts, potentially leading to faster recovery times.
Dental Care: Oral health is a significant focus, with services including dental cleanings, digital dental X-rays to assess the health of teeth below the gumline, and most extractions. They emphasize the profound effect oral care has on a pet's overall health.
Other Services: A fully stocked in-house pharmacy provides convenient access to necessary medications and preventatives. They also offer professional training services, demonstrating a commitment to behavioral health and client education. For after-hours emergencies, they have partnered with VetTriage, offering 24/7 video telehealth services to assess if a pet requires immediate emergency care or can be monitored at home until the hospital reopens, providing a crucial bridge for urgent situations.
Several features distinguish Chittenango Animal Hospital. Their mission to provide the "highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service" underscores their patient-first philosophy. The integration of both traditional Western medicine and holistic approaches, such as Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) with acupuncture and rehabilitation therapy, provides a unique and comprehensive care model. This multi-faceted approach allows them to explore various options for a pet's health, ensuring a tailored and empathetic treatment plan. The presence of advanced diagnostic tools like digital radiography, ultrasound, and a full in-house lab allows for efficient and accurate diagnoses. The use of therapeutic laser and surgical laser technology demonstrates their commitment to utilizing modern advancements for better patient outcomes and comfort. The team's emphasis on continued education in both Eastern and Western medicine ensures they stay up-to-date on best practices. Furthermore, their partnership with VetTriage for after-hours telehealth highlights a commitment to providing continuous care and support to their clients, even outside of regular business hours. Their focus on client education and active participation in their pet's care ("You are as much a part of the team as our staff; we truly value and welcome your input") also sets them apart.
Chittenango Animal Hospital also offers various promotional initiatives and conveniences for pet owners. They explicitly welcome new clients and invite them to call to set up an account, making the onboarding process straightforward. While specific, regularly advertised seasonal promotions are not consistently detailed, their website indicates a "Specials" page where clients can "check this page for different specials that will help you save on services and products." This suggests periodic discounts or offers are available. They value their patients and clients, viewing these specials as a way of saying thank you for loyalty. For payment convenience, Chittenango Animal Hospital accepts pet insurance for unexpected accidents and illnesses, encouraging pet owners to get their pets insured while healthy. They also work with treatment financing solutions like CareCredit, which helps clients manage large, unexpected veterinary costs by allowing payments to be spaced out over time. This financial flexibility ensures that pets can receive necessary care without immediate financial burden on owners. Additionally, they provide an online store, partnered with Vets First Choice and Hills-to-Home, allowing clients to conveniently purchase medications, prescription diets, and other pet products for home delivery. They also offer a "Pet Portal" accessible via an app (Android and iOS), which enables clients to easily request appointments, refill prescriptions, view vaccine records, and access pet health information, enhancing client convenience and engagement.

Mar 28, 2025 · Brenda HendrickI have been to a few animal hospitals with my pets and this one by FAR tops the cake! The staff is super friendly, it is the most immaculate vets office I’ve been. Taylor did an amazing job with Mia’s nails and she is super kind. And the vet I saw I loved from the beginning as he gives the best hand shake and that tells me a lot about a person. He is so attentive and knowledgeable about animals. Not to mention warm and friendly. The staff that wasn’t busy came to meet Mia which meant a lot. I feel so comfortable taking her there and know they will take great care of her! Thank you Chittenango Animal Hospital. I’m so glad I picked your facility to bring Mia.
Dec 24, 2024 · Denise CronkMy visit was on Friday, August 25, 2023. During my visit, the staff was friendly and professional. They helped explain things in detail and offered options for flea prevention treatments for my cat. The vet, Dr. Carter was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. My cat was well taken care of at the location during his routine follow-up. This was my first appointment with Dr. Carter but my second visit to the office. The appointment date and time were convenient. There was little to no wait for both scheduling the appointment as well as the wait time when I arrived at the office. I would highly recommend the office and will return in the future.
Aug 27, 2023 · Tonya FarberI absolutely love Chittenango Animal Hospital. The staff is amazing. Dr Carter and Dr Cook always spend time explaining the situation and make sure they’ve answered all my questions and concerns. They never make me feel rushed. Their vet techs are amazing. Taylor, my favorite, is so good with my 2 Rottweilers. She sees Peanut once a month for a nail trim and she’s wonderful with her. She (Peanut) tends to be a bit unruly at times. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. I could not recommend them more. Thank you CAH for taking such great care of my babies!
