Chicago Exotics Animal Hospital

I’ve been bringing my lops to Chicago Exotics for a few years now, and I’m really lucky to have a place that I trust so much. I’ve been there for a spay procedure, stasis visits, and annual exams. The staff has always been very helpful in answering my questions & transparent when it comes to treatment/cost. Plus, scheduling an appointment has always been easy. I highly recommend this place for rabbit owners

Chicago Exotics Animal Hospital is absolutely top-notch! Over the last 4 years, we’ve met a minimum of 4 different veterinarians in their practice for our guinea pigs. They are highly knowledgeable from general care to meeting emergency needs. They have always provided a plan of action that is comprehensive & organized. A special shoutout to Dr. Horton & Dr. Byerly who we’ve seen on more than one occasion & we are grateful for their attention. The entire staff show great compassion & we have often felt they go above & beyond in the care they provide. Also, a thank you to Lamor & the front desk staff for facilitating excellent communication & being warm & friendly when you need it the most. Would highly recommend them!

They've been treating my bun (and her chronic ear infection) for the past year+ and have been excellent all around. I'm pretty sure we've seen every Dr here and they all have been lovely to work with and full of great advice and aid. I have to send a special thanks to Dr Baldwin for putting my mind at ease about doing surgery on my rabbit, she did a fantastic job and I'm really happy with the results. I have a feeling Scarlett is too 🐇.

I never write reviews but I want to warn anyone considering this place-- take your pet elsewhere. I cannot believe the complete lack of empathy, kindess, and respect from the staff at this hospital. I initially went in for help with my bunny's tooth root abscess. Upon arrival, they showed me to a room and asked me to fill out a form again that I had already submitted online. I filled it out again no problem, then the doctor came in and explained what was happening with my rabbit for AT MOST 5 minutes. I have a master's degree and am well educated, which does not even matter, but I had absolutely no idea any of the medical terminology she was saying to me. There was a large picture of rabbit teeth anatomy on the wall that she could have easily used to explain things to me, but she threw a bunch of medical jargon at me, gave me absolutely no processing time whatsover, and then left with my rabbit to the back without telling me what they were even doing with him. I did not see the doctor ever again. Then, the nurse came in (she is the only helpful soul in that hell hole), with a $2000 bill less than 5 minutes later before I could even figure out what the hell was happening. I started to get emotional because I want what's best for my pet, but was not prepared for how expensive the treatment would be. After that they told me they needed the room for the next appointment and I would have to sit in the lobby. So I was forced to sit in the lobby crying while they did god knows what with my rabbit. Their pricing is absolutely predatory. They overcharge for medicine, and they will charge you for every single little thing that they can down to the gauze. The nurse was very kind in explaining things, but when I called later for more information about the itemized bill, I was met with so much attitude and disrespect from Lamor who told me that this has already been explained to me multiple times and she didn't know what else to say to get me to understand. This hospital gave me a bill over $2000- god forbid I have a question about something. Absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself and your pet the trauma and money, take your business somewhere else.

My wife and I take our holland lop bunnies here (Lucky and Sugar) and I appreciate the passion the staff have for treating and caring for animals. Dr. Strat is the best and is hospitable, knowledgeable and professional all at once. The vet tech Cassandra is wonderful as well. Really everyone here is amazing, the front desk staff are both easygoing and helpful. My one rabbit has a disability (splayed front legs) so others with animals who need a little extra care should stop in since they clearly love animals here.
