This is the third time over the last 10 years having surgery with Dr. Burgess. He is extremely talented, kind and compassionate. I am beyond grateful to have his care for my beloved fur babies. All of the staff here is amazing! Tech. I’ve been so blessed to have Barbie B. care for all of my pets after their surgeries. Knowing such an amazing, smart, experienced and loving person is caring for, and loving my pet eases so much anxiety. I appreciate you all more than you can imagine. Thank you from me & Brodie!

Dr. Burgess and staff are outstanding. The quality of care at the surgical center was/is phenomenal. Yesterday, my sweet fur baby had 6 masses removed from various locations on her little body. In my overly anxious mind, this seemed an almost daunting task; but Dr. Burgess explained the procedure and expected outcome so comprehensively, and confidently, that he set my worried mind at ease (well, mostly lol). From the moment we entered the exam room for our consult, to the time I picked her up today, I felt confident that she was in the most capable, caring surgical hands (she was). Dr. Burgess assured me that he and his team would give the best care to my girl and they absolutely did. (I still can’t get over how great all of the incisions look). My Gracie girl is everything to me, and as I sit here tonight, gently loving on her as she begins her healing journey, I feel so very grateful for their compassion and commitment to exceptional care. Thank you so very much to the whole medical team, and the staff, who made this extremely worrying time much less so, for not only me, but for my beloved fur baby.

My cat, 17yr old Rocco was vomiting uncontrollably so I took him to our local animal hospital & they recommended I take him here. Staff were friendly & he obtained the care he required. The radiologist reported he had a liver hernia, & to dbl-chk, we did a CT scan that confirmed this. He was put on steroids, PRN pain & PRN anti-nausea meds. He did well. Then he caught fleas from one of our cats that escaped outside. Was taken off of steroids bc of the fleas, all 3 cats got treated for fleas. But he started losing weight so he went back to the local vet, was put back on steroids & an appetite stimulating med. Unfortunately he caught a cold from one of our cats & couldn't taste food to eat it and kept losing weight. We had to "force feed" him with a syringe kitten weaning formula made beefier and richer for him, and force feed him water! Unfortunately, he died in his sleep beside me on my Dad's birthday on Feb 22nd. He would have reached age 18 on March 14. He was well- hydrated because he pee'd on me in his sleep before he died. We are SO sorry and the other 2 cats are grieving too. We loved him so much!

I cannot say enough good things about Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Annapolis, MD! I was referred to this facility by my vet because my dog ruptured his ACL. This was my first time at the facilty. From the first call to make the appointment, to dropping him off for surgery, picking him up the day after, and his three week check up, the staff at this facility have been outstanding! Their compassion, patience, knowledge, and caring for my Teddy has been phenomenal! Truly I cannot thank them All enough! My boy is feeling so much better and is healing wonderfully because of their time in explaining how to care for him post surgery, instructions on all the meds, answering any, and all questions, and just their overall empathy for my dog, and frankly myself as well, they have been amazing. If your beloved furry family member needs specialized care, you may want to highly consider this facility. Look up their website for all the other specialized services they offer. Simply remarkable!

Our dog blew out both back knees around Christmas time. It took a couple of weeks to get in but that was only because of the weather intervening with our long drive. We had his appointment on Thursday and they operated on one knee on Friday and we brought him home on Saturday to begin his long recovery, after which he will have his second surgery. The veterinarian, Dr. Moore, was very kind and answered all our questions. We felt comfortable leaving our boy in her hands. My only complaint is related to the pickup on Saturday. One person working the desk and a line of families waiting to pick up. I don't know if it's normal procedure to have that person explaining all of the at home instructions (which took a good 10 mins per family) but I would like to see two people working the desk for pick up. We live an hour and a half away and then had to wait a good half an hour to even give our names. This aside, I would go through that again to have my boy walking & running again.
