Welcome to Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital
Welcome to Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital, located at 16970 Manchester Rd in Grover, MO 63040, USA. As a local pet hospital, Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital aims to provide veterinary care services to the Grover community and surrounding areas. The available customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on the experiences of pet owners who have entrusted their animals to this clinic, highlighting both positive aspects of care and areas of concern.
One customer highly recommends Cherry Hills, emphasizing the caring nature of every staff member who treats their dogs like family. This reviewer expresses a strong sense of being well-cared for and confident that their pets receive the best possible care, from puppyhood through their senior years. They specifically mention Dr. Leonard's expertise and support, stating that despite the location not being the most convenient, they are always willing to make the trip for their "fur babies." This positive feedback suggests a strong connection and trust built over time with the veterinary team.
However, another customer, who was a client for over five years, shared a significantly different experience in their more recent interactions with Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital. This detailed review outlines several issues that led to their decision to seek veterinary care elsewhere. Initially, they were happy with the service but reported a decline in the last year. Following a dental procedure and cyst removal for their 12-year-old schnauzer, they received incorrect discharge information and medications without proper instructions. The lack of on-call service on surgery days resulted in the need to contact an emergency vet hospital when their dog's eye began bleeding in the evening.
Despite these initial issues, the client continued as a patient due to their positive relationship with Dr. Leonard. However, they expressed disappointment when Dr. Leonard seemed dismissive of their concerns regarding their dog's nighttime anxiety, citing her own dog's similar struggles. In contrast, the client praised Dr. Bechtel, a new vet at the practice, for listening to their concerns and prescribing a medication that significantly improved their dog's anxiety.
Further issues arose when the wrong medication dosage was dispensed, requiring an additional trip to the clinic. The most distressing part of this customer's experience involved their 2-year-old rescue dog's heartworm diagnosis. They followed Dr. Leonard's instructions for a confirmatory test and were told the results would be available the next day. However, they reported a lack of communication, not receiving a promised call back and encountering a dismissive attitude from the front desk staff. The situation escalated when Dr. Leonard allegedly yelled at the client about "abusing her staff" before even providing the test results and ultimately advised them to find another vet, accusing them of saying she didn't care for their animals.
This detailed negative review concludes with the client expressing shock at the inaccurate and untruthful notes they found in their pet's records upon transferring them to a new veterinary practice. They urge caution to potential clients, suggesting that issues may arise if a pet owner's opinions differ from those of the veterinarian. This account paints a picture of potential inconsistencies in service, communication breakdowns, and unprofessional conduct in certain situations.
Considering these contrasting experiences, it is challenging to provide a definitive picture of the environment, services, and features of Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital. The positive review suggests a caring and family-like atmosphere with staff who are deeply invested in the well-being of their patients. Dr. Leonard is mentioned as being knowledgeable and supportive over many years.
However, the negative review raises concerns about communication protocols, especially regarding medication instructions and test results. The lack of on-call emergency support and the alleged unprofessional interaction with Dr. Leonard are significant points of concern. The mention of a new vet, Dr. Bechtel, being more receptive and helpful suggests potential variations in the approach and effectiveness of different practitioners within the hospital.
Based on the available information, the services likely include routine wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care (as indicated by the tooth removal procedure), surgical procedures (including cyst removal and potentially more), diagnostic testing (including lab work for heartworm), and medication dispensing. However, the inconsistencies in service delivery and communication, as described in the negative review, are crucial factors for potential clients to consider.
Features of Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital that can be inferred include the presence of at least two veterinarians (Dr. Leonard and Dr. Bechtel) and a support staff. They handle surgical procedures and diagnostic testing. However, the absence of on-call emergency service is a notable limitation mentioned by one client.
No promotional information is available in the provided reviews. It would be advisable for interested pet owners to contact Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital directly to inquire about their current services, hours, appointment policies, and any special offers they might have for new or existing clients. Asking about their communication protocols, especially regarding test results and post-operative care, might also be prudent given the issues raised in one of the reviews.
In conclusion, Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital in Grover, MO, appears to be a pet hospital that has provided positive, caring experiences for some clients over many years, with specific mention of Dr. Leonard's expertise. However, recent experiences shared by another long-term client highlight significant concerns regarding communication, accuracy of information, lack of emergency support, and unprofessional conduct. Local users considering Cherry Hills Veterinary Hospital should weigh these contrasting accounts and consider contacting the clinic directly to discuss their pet's needs and the hospital's current practices and policies to make an informed decision.

Nov 08, 2024 · Amanda DI was a client for 5+ years. Was completely happy until the last year. My 12 year old schnauzer had to have most of her teeth removed due to decay. She also had a small cyst removed from her eye. Upon discharge we were given incorrect information and were sent home with medications with no instructions on how or when to give them. I had to call the next day for instructions because no one is on call even on surgery days. During the evening my dogs eye began bleeding and we had to call an emergency vet hospital again because there is no one on call. We are lucky they were there for us. We continued as patients there because I really liked Dr. Leonard. I was a little bit upset when she told me that there really was nothing else we could do for my 12 year old dog (she was on a couple of different meds at the time) that had anxiety just at night. Her justification was that she had a dog with the same issues and nothing worked with her dog. Dr. Bechtel ( the new vet there) was so kind and listened to my concerns and added a medication 3 weeks ago and she is so much better. I am very thankful for him. When I went to pick up her medication she was supposed to get 1/2 tablet a day and they dispensed capsules. I had to make another trip there to pick up the correct medication. Recently my 2 year old rescue was diagnosed heartworm positive. I was devastated. Dr. Leonard asked us to return and get a confirmatory lab test done on a Thursday. We absolutely complied. We had the test done and she said the results would be back Friday. I called to check in Ftiday afternoon to see if the results were back and left a message. I was assured that someone would call me back before they closed. I never received that call. I called again at 2pm on Monday and asked if the results were back. By this time I was frantic and very upset. I spoke with the lady up front who informed me that a message had not even been taken Friday. I was even more upset. I guess my dog was not that important. That's how I felt. I wanted answers and was unable to get them from the secretary. She told me Se. Leonard would call me back after her next appointment. That call came 2 hours later. Before she even gave me the results of the second test she yelled at me about "abusing her staff". Excuse me? I tried to explain to her and tell her about my conversation. She wanted nothing to do with hearing me out. She told me to find another vet. She accused me of telling her that she did not care for my animals. I wasn't even able to have a civil conversation. I have never in my life been attacked like that. I really liked her and so did my doggies. I found another vet immediately and went to pick up my records today from her office. I was stunned when I read the notes from both her and her secretary. Totally inaccurate and bold face lies. I could not believe it. Please beware if you are looking for a vet. Everything goes swimmingly until you have your own opinions and they don't align with hers. I am blessed to be able to have found a wonderful caring vet. I wish them no malice. I truly believe you receive back what you put out into the universe. Sorry so long but wanted to include as much detail as possible.
Nov 27, 2024 · Marnie SchneiderDr. Leonard and her staff are the most amazing people. They always make us feel comforted and taken care of. They were so sweet, kind and understanding when our little dog crossed over the rainbow bridge. We are so very thankful for all of them there.
Sep 01, 2023 · Denise KuseOur dog had 3 cancerous tumors removed here, and the service was excellent. Our dog was also much calmer here than at her original vet. Cherry Hills really knew how to work with our skittish pup.
Feb 25, 2023 · John LuzynskiDr. Emily Leonard and her loving staff and family is so much a part of our own family as well. Along with being an expert in veterinary science, Emily is so sweet to the fur babies. What a great place to take your pet. Plus -- great coffee while you are there ; D.
