I have had the best experiences with Dr. Allie Van Motter at Chagrin Valley Veterinary Clinic!! Dr. Allie is so skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate. Our chocolate lab Molly can be very anxious, especially with nail trimming, so much so that she had to be sedated for trimming. Dr. Allie worked with us to desensitize Molly to having her paws touched and over 3 appointments they were able to cut all her nails and now we can eliminate the sedation (that had been hard on Molly to recover from). I highly recommend Dr. Allie and her friendly and skilled staff.

They are readily accessible via phone at (440) 247-8477 or mobile at +1 440-247-8477. As a key establishment within the "Pet Hospital" category, this clinic is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of veterinary services and related goods to ensure the health and well-being of companion animals. This detailed introduction aims to provide an objective overview of their offerings, environment, services, features, and potential promotional aspects, based on available online information and customer testimonials.
While specific architectural blueprints or interior design photos are not widely available, a reputable pet hospital like Chagrin Valley Veterinary Clinic is expected to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. The design of such a clinic typically prioritizes both the comfort of the pets and their owners. This often includes separate waiting areas for cats and dogs to minimize stress for anxious animals, well-lit and sanitized examination rooms, and dedicated spaces for advanced diagnostics, surgery, and patient recovery. The atmosphere is likely designed to be calming, with perhaps soft lighting and soothing colors to help alleviate anxiety during veterinary visits. The professionalism of the staff, as highlighted in reviews, also contributes significantly to the perceived environment, fostering a sense of trust and reassurance for clients entering the clinic. A clean and efficient reception area would facilitate smooth check-ins and check-outs, and the overall layout would likely be optimized for patient flow and staff efficiency.
Chagrin Valley Veterinary Clinic, operating as a comprehensive pet hospital, offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services to address the diverse needs of pets. These services typically include:
- Preventative and Wellness Care: This is the foundation of good pet health and includes routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols based on the pet's lifestyle and risk assessment, and comprehensive parasite control programs (fleas, ticks, heartworm, intestinal parasites). Nutritional counseling and weight management programs are also likely provided to promote optimal health. Regular wellness exams are crucial for early detection and prevention of potential health issues.
- Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose various conditions, the clinic would be equipped with in-house laboratory capabilities for immediate blood work (e.g., complete blood counts, chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal analysis. Digital radiography (X-rays) is a standard diagnostic tool for evaluating bones, joints, and internal organs. Depending on the clinic's specialization, more advanced imaging such as ultrasound may also be available.
- Internal Medicine: They would manage a wide array of internal medical conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine diseases (like diabetes and thyroid issues), dermatological problems, and respiratory illnesses. This involves thorough diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing monitoring of chronic conditions.
- Soft Tissue Surgery: Common surgical procedures offered would include routine spaying and neutering, tumor removals, laceration repairs, and other general soft tissue surgeries. Patient safety is paramount, with careful pre-operative assessments, anesthetic monitoring, and post-operative pain management.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are crucial for a pet's overall health. These typically include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing) under anesthesia, dental X-rays to assess sub-gingival issues, and extractions of diseased teeth when necessary.
- Pain Management: The clinic would provide various strategies for managing both acute and chronic pain, which is especially important for pets recovering from surgery, those with arthritis, or other painful conditions.
- Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation is a vital service that significantly increases the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
- Behavioral Counseling: As evidenced by the review concerning an anxious dog, the clinic actively engages in behavioral management. This can include guidance on addressing common behavioral issues, providing strategies for fear-free handling, and potentially referring to specialized animal behaviorists when needed. Their success in desensitizing an anxious dog for nail trims highlights their commitment to behavioral well-being.
- Urgent Care: While not explicitly stated as a 24/7 emergency clinic, the ability to get an "appointment very quickly" suggests that they accommodate urgent cases during their operating hours, providing timely attention to pets with acute illnesses or injuries.
- Pharmacy Services: An on-site pharmacy would allow for immediate dispensing of necessary medications, ensuring convenient and efficient treatment.
Based on the provided customer reviews, Chagrin Valley Veterinary Clinic stands out due to several key features:

The doctor's genuine interest in the "outcome for my kitty" highlights a personalized approach to care, where the pet's well-being is paramount.
- Proactive Behavioral Management: The success story of desensitizing an anxious dog for nail trims is a significant feature. This demonstrates their commitment to addressing behavioral challenges, improving the pet's quality of life, and reducing the need for sedation for routine procedures. The doctor was very thorough and went over a variety of options, explaining in detail the pros and cons of each. Most importantly, she listened to ALL my concerns and asked questions to better understand, and was genuinely interested in the outcome for my kitty. Dec 10, 2024 · Danielle BeardOur English bulldog has always hated going to the vet and would get very anxious. We switched to Doctor Allie and she is amazing! Our dog loves her and the staff! It makes me feel so much better bringing my dog in and have her wagging her butt in excitement and not shaking with anxiety. Would never take her anywhere else and to any other Vet!
