- Preventative Care: This is a cornerstone of equine health and typically includes routine check-ups, vaccinations (such as tetanus, rabies, and influenza), deworming programs tailored to the horse's age and lifestyle, dental examinations and care (floating), and nutritional counseling.
- General Medicine: Diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions affecting horses, such as respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems, metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases. This involves thorough physical examinations, laboratory testing (blood work, fecal analysis, etc.), and the development of appropriate treatment plans.
- Lameness Evaluation and Treatment: Addressing issues related to a horse's gait and movement, which can stem from various causes like injuries, arthritis, or hoof problems. This often involves physical examinations, nerve blocks, diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasound), and treatments ranging from rest and medication to specialized therapies.
- Surgery: Performing surgical procedures, which can range from routine surgeries like castrations to more complex procedures addressing colic, injuries, or other medical conditions. The availability of advanced surgical capabilities often depends on the hospital's facilities and the expertise of the veterinary team.
- Emergency Care: Providing immediate medical attention for critical conditions such as colic, severe injuries, lacerations, and other emergencies. Equine hospitals often have protocols in place for handling urgent situations.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Utilizing technologies like digital radiography (X-rays) and ultrasonography to visualize internal structures for accurate diagnosis of various conditions. Some facilities may also offer more advanced imaging like MRI or CT scans.

Mar 01, 2025 · Mary JensenOur sweet babydoll sheep, EllieMae, was attacked by a dog and although it was costly, we did what we could to save her. The staff was amazing with her even after resulting in a bill totaling $1,800. We paid it no problem. Unfortunately, she went into septic shock 18 hours later and had to be put down. They charged us a whopping $465 to put her down AFTER WE HAD JUST SPENT $1,800 just for her to pass away hours later. I just can not understand how any veterinary facilty can stand over you as you sob in the floor with your animal, knowing you just spent almost $2,000 the day before and then charge you almost $500 hours later to put said animal down. This facility is money driven and greed replaces all else. I’m disgusted to say the least. I will never understand how we had a dog put down at another facility and paid $250 for a euthanization AND cremation AND a memorial box but here we are charged $465 to put down a much smaller animal and had to take the body home with us. Someone please make this make sense!

Mar 19, 2025 · P HI cannot say enough great things. Let’s start with Dr.Talbot. My JT ( 28yr old Quarter horse)was attacked and his face was severely torn and shredded. Being a weekend emergency Dr.Talbot came to our rescue even though it was snowing and freezing. Dr.Talbot handled things very professionally and was amazing. Our follow ups have been with Dr.Sparks and she is wonderful. She handled me and JT well. Me asking 1000’s of questions her answering them and reassuring me. I cannot stop there I also have to say that Ashely is amazing as well with helping me book appointments, Relaying information for being so patient with me. Now a couple weeks have passed and we are looking up and JT is on the mend. I cannot express my gratitude for them and all they have done for my boy.
