Took my 13 yr old yorkie here because she was having bloody stools the vet gave her and injection and a few days later her poop was normal no more blood. He also checked her for parasites none either was found. I was also concerned about her eyes they always seemed to leak a lot so he prescribed an eye drop that helped her eyes they are no longer leaking. Thank you so much for your help.

Welcome to Call Ahead Veterinary
Welcome to the local introduction of Call Ahead Veterinary, situated at 654 5th Ave in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Categorized as a "Pet Hospital," this establishment provides veterinary services for the local community. The information available for Call Ahead Veterinary primarily comes from customer reviews, which offer contrasting perspectives on the care provided. This introduction aims to present an objective overview of what can be gleaned from these reviews, keeping in mind the limited scope of information available regarding the environment, services, features, and any promotional aspects of this veterinary care provider.
Based on the available information, details regarding the environment of Call Ahead Veterinary are scarce. The address indicates a physical location in Brooklyn, suggesting a standard veterinary clinic setting with examination rooms and potentially other areas necessary for basic veterinary procedures. However, specifics about the clinic's ambiance, cleanliness, equipment, or any specialized facilities are not mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, a detailed description of the environment is not possible based solely on the given information.
The services offered at Call Ahead Veterinary, as indicated by the customer experiences, include at least basic diagnostics and treatments for common pet ailments. One review mentions the successful treatment of a 13-year-old Yorkie experiencing bloody stools. The veterinarian administered an injection, and within a few days, the dog's condition improved. The vet also conducted a check for parasites, which came back negative, and addressed the dog's chronic eye leakage with prescribed eye drops that proved effective. This suggests that Call Ahead Veterinary offers services such as physical examinations, administration of medications (injections, eye drops), and basic diagnostic procedures (parasite checks).
However, another review presents a starkly different experience. This customer took their cat to Call Ahead Veterinary due to unusual behavior when other clinics were closed. The reviewer describes the veterinarian as "very old" and difficult to understand. According to this account, the vet stated that the cat was fine and had no problems. Tragically, the cat's condition worsened, and a subsequent visit to another veterinary clinic resulted in a diagnosis of illness, and the cat later died. The reviewer expresses feelings of guilt for relying on the initial assessment from Call Ahead Veterinary, strongly advising others against taking their pets there, citing the care as "cheap" but ultimately costing the cat's life.
In terms of features, the limited information makes it difficult to identify any unique aspects of Call Ahead Veterinary. The fact that it was open when other places were closed, as mentioned in the negative review, could be considered a feature of accessibility, although the subsequent experience overshadowed this. The positive review highlights the veterinarian's ability to diagnose and treat common conditions like bloody stools and eye leakage, suggesting a level of competence in these areas. However, the conflicting negative review raises serious concerns about the overall quality and reliability of the care provided.
Promotional information is entirely absent in the provided data. There are no mentions of special offers, wellness plans, or any marketing efforts by Call Ahead Veterinary. The information is purely based on two contrasting customer experiences, one positive and one severely negative. Therefore, no objective promotional information can be derived from the given text.
Given the significant discrepancy between the two customer reviews, it is challenging to form a definitive objective assessment of Call Ahead Veterinary. The positive review suggests that the veterinarian is capable of diagnosing and treating certain common conditions effectively. The negative review, however, raises serious concerns about misdiagnosis and the potential for inadequate care, with devastating consequences for the pet. This stark contrast underscores the importance of considering multiple perspectives when evaluating a service provider, especially in healthcare.
For local users considering Call Ahead Veterinary, it is crucial to be aware of these differing experiences. While one pet owner reported a positive outcome for their aging Yorkie, another experienced a tragic loss after seeking care for their cat at this clinic. The negative review specifically mentions difficulties in communication with the veterinarian due to age and unclear speech, which could be a significant barrier to effective diagnosis and treatment. The reviewer also felt that the "cheap" care ultimately resulted in a fatal misjudgment.
In conclusion, Call Ahead Veterinary in Brooklyn, NY, presents a complex picture based on the limited information available. While one customer review indicates satisfactory treatment for specific conditions in a dog, another recounts a deeply negative experience with a fatal outcome for their cat, coupled with concerns about the veterinarian's communication abilities. Due to the conflicting nature of this feedback and the lack of comprehensive information regarding the clinic's environment, services, and features, local users are advised to consider these points carefully and potentially seek additional information or reviews from other sources before making a decision about their pet's care. Contacting Call Ahead Veterinary directly at (718) 788-2983 or +1 718-788-2983 may provide further insight into their services and approach to veterinary care.

Apr 05, 2025 · Jacqueline DiazThis place should not be open, I took my cat there because there was no place open. A few days ago my cat was acting strange. The vet is very old and you can't understand what he is saying. He told me my cat was fine and had no problems. A few days later I took my cat to another place and his diagnosis was that he was sick and died. I feel so guilty for listening to this old man. Don't take your pets there. The care is cheap but I paid for it with my cat's life.
Dec 09, 2024 · danae tapiaI just saw the vet a few minutes ago and was disturbed by what I saw in the “exam” room. I’ve attached pictures so you can see what I’m talking about. The vet seemed nice enough but very old school. As others have mentioned, it was just him and no other staff. He took multiple phone calls during my visit to schedule other patients. I was not happy to see multiple open containers of bleach and a cup of syringes that may or may not have been previously used. I did not see a sharps container for disposal. He wanted to do an injection and I refused due to what I saw. I would recommend seeing another vet in the area.
Dec 01, 2021 · Rachel FeldmanCall ahead vet is just as it says. You call Dr. Novick when your ready to go to him. My cat Bella was having terrible seizures. I hadnt any funds at the time, and Dr. Novick still examined Bella, and unfortunately informed me that Bella was indeed on her 9th life, and i just wanted her to stop her suffering. I held her as she took her last breath. Where would Bella and I have been if Dr. Novick didnt give me an emergency appointment knowing that I had no money with me? I dont even want to think about how my beloved cat of 8 years
