Awesome Doc! She took us in an emergency and we’ve never been before. Needless to say, this is our new veterinarian. :) They were in the process of remodeling so excuse the mess… oh and half the price of over 15 places I called. Being new in town it was hard. Nobody would take us. But Bucksport did!

Bucksport Veterinary Hospital operates as a full-service animal hospital, meaning they are equipped to handle a broad range of medical needs, from routine preventative care to more urgent and complex situations. This comprehensive approach positions them as a central hub for pet health in their community. The facility strives to create an environment where pets feel as stress-free as possible during their visits. While a recent customer review noted they were "in the process of remodeling," which might imply some temporary disruption, the underlying commitment to a comfortable and functional space for animal care remains evident. A veterinary hospital environment typically features dedicated examination rooms, a surgical suite, a diagnostic area (for X-rays and lab work), and a reception area designed for the comfort of both pets and their owners. Even amidst remodeling, the hospital's dedication to providing quality care would necessitate maintaining a clean, safe, and medically appropriate setting.

The services offered by Bucksport Veterinary Hospital are extensive, covering the essential aspects of pet healthcare. Their core offerings include comprehensive wellness exams, which are fundamental for monitoring a pet's overall health and detecting potential issues early. Vaccinations, crucial for protecting pets from various diseases, are also a standard part of their preventative care regimen. Beyond routine check-ups, they provide a full suite of diagnostic services, including in-house laboratory services for quick and accurate blood tests, urinalysis, and other screenings, as well as X-rays (radiology). These diagnostic capabilities are critical for accurately diagnosing illnesses and injuries. Dental cleaning and care are also provided, recognizing the importance of oral health for a pet's overall well-being. Furthermore, Bucksport Veterinary Hospital offers surgical services, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex operations, with the capability to bring in a board-certified surgeon for specialized needs. They also address flea and tick control, provide behavioral resources to help owners understand and modify unwanted pet behaviors, and even offer cremation services, demonstrating a compassionate approach through all stages of a pet's life. For after-hours emergencies, they collaborate with Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic, ensuring continuous critical care coverage.

Several key features distinguish Bucksport Veterinary Hospital. A prominent feature, as highlighted by customer testimonials, is their willingness to accept emergency cases, even for new patients, when other clinics might be unable to. This immediate responsiveness in critical situations is invaluable and speaks volumes about their dedication to animal welfare. One customer specifically mentioned being taken in during an emergency as a new client after calling "over 15 places" that wouldn't accept them. This open and accommodating policy in times of distress builds immense trust and loyalty. Another notable feature is their perceived affordability; a customer noted they were "half the price of over 15 places I called," suggesting that Bucksport Veterinary Hospital strives to make quality veterinary care more accessible financially, a significant benefit for many pet owners. Their adaptability and understanding in handling difficult or "growly, threatening" pets, as described by a customer whose cat is a "tough cookie," underscores their patient-centered approach and focus on animal safety and comfort during examinations. The availability of wellness plans (for canine, feline, and puppy/kitten) further emphasizes their commitment to preventative care and making ongoing health management manageable for pet owners, often including benefits like unlimited scheduled office exams, discounts on food, and sometimes even surgical services as part of the plan.

Promotional information for Bucksport Veterinary Hospital often emphasizes their commitment to providing "the best care for your best friend" and striving to make every visit stress-free. They highlight their comprehensive services and their ability to handle a wide variety of pet needs. Their website promotes wellness plans that offer financial advantages for preventative care, often including discounted membership fees and perks like free microchips or bags of food. By offering transparent pricing and potentially lower costs for emergency services, they position themselves as an affordable option without compromising quality. The strong positive customer reviews, particularly those praising their willingness to help in emergencies and their gentle handling of challenging pets, serve as powerful testimonials. These reviews are a testament to their compassionate and professional team, reassuring new and existing clients that their pets will be in capable and caring hands. The combination of comprehensive services, compassionate staff, and a reputation for accessibility and affordability makes Bucksport Veterinary Hospital a highly recommended choice for pet owners in Orland and beyond. Their operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making them available for routine care throughout the week, while their collaboration for after-hours emergencies ensures continuous support for the community.

My cat is always a growly, threatening jerk to these fine people, but they’re always nice to him (and me) anyway. He’s a tough cookie to bring in but they’ve been adaptable, understanding, and safety-focused each time we’ve come in for a check-up. Thanks Bucksport vet!

So we're new to the area and this place came highly recommended. Why, I could not tell you. I talked to two different people and both were abrupt and uncaring. And then this happened: They said they were accepting new patients. They took all my information and all of my dog's information and had me have my old vet send over all the records. This all happened on a Monday. They said to call back the next day to get an intraday appointment. I did so on Tuesday. No appointments available Tuesday because a doctor is out sick. Of course, that happens. No problem there. But can't make an appointment for one of the slots tomorrow because we're not "established" clients? Clearly, their processes are more important than taking care of their patients, animal and human alike. So I call back today--Wednesday--and find that the person I spoke to lied--OUTRIGHT MADE UP A LIE--and said I swore at them. I did ask if they knew of any vets that actually cared about animals, because I find this whole process bizarre. But I'm 55 years old and have a career and a fancy car and all that stuff. I know when I swear at someone. Absolutely horrible experience and I am pretty sure they are all terrible people. I don't really mind obscure hoops to jump through to get medical care for myself; I can reason things out. Watching my dog suffer needlessly because they need to...I'm not even sure what. Clients come and go in medical practices, so I'm not even able to figure out what it was they were trying to do by preventing me from making an appointment? But it's fine. I don't want my dog in the care of people so dishonest and disgusting. -

Since moving to the area, we have found the vet for us. Everyone is caring, attentive, and knowledgeable. It's a bit of a drive for us, but it is so worth it. They return calls quickly if the phone went to voice mail and are also quick to call with lab results so treatment can begin without hesitation.
