I recently had the experience of having my dog spayed, and I am pleased to report that the procedure went smoothly without any complications. I had such a great experience here when it came to spaying the stray kitten I took in. As a new cat mom, I was anxious about the procedure, but the staff was so kind and professional and eased my concerns from start to finish. Drop-off and pick-up were simple, and they were super responsive by phone and email post-op. With their instructions, my cat healed up nicely, and her scar isn't even noticeable. At 1/8th the cost quoted in DC, I'm super grateful to have found Bowie Spay & Neuter!

I had such a great experience here. My 3 fur babies been here. They take good care of them. The place is very clean and the staff are incredible.

Wonderful experience. Incredible emergency follow up outside of business hours. Adding on the laser option with the procedure probably saved us from an expensive emergency visit when we had a mishap at home a few days later. Had our hyperactive, 1.5 year old, 13 pound female, miniature poodle mix dog, with adverse reactions or allergies to some foods and medications, spayed here. They were communicative from the start. Made safe, logical medical decisions and recommendations to make sure our pup would tolerate the process and recover well. Provided an anxiety medication as a sleep aid to help with our pup’s hyperactive tendency during recovery. Drop off and pick up was seamless. (That being said, our dog had been developing a fear of vet offices, in general, and currently is convinced that all vet offices are the same. It’s okay to ask for anti-anxiety meds for your pet prior to surgery.) Our dog’s proportions make it impossible to eat and drink and hard to walk with the e-collar on. If she even looks at the ground, the collar hits the floor. So we swapped her to a 100% cotton onsie when on leash with us and when under direct supervision in a close space. (This is not the medically recommended approach. An e-collar is generally the safest option.) Our emergency: Three days after surgery and shortly before the next dose of don’t-be-hyper (anti anxiety) meds, we had a leash mishap toward the end of the short potty walk. Our hyperactive pup said, “Oh, I’m off leash? I can run? COOL! LET’S DO THIS!” and went into full zoomies and “Let’s play tag! Catch me if you can!!! Hahaha!!!” mode. (She races a miniature greyhound at the park. When I say she’s fast, I’m not kidding.) Four days since she’d last had a good run wasn’t helping. Commands without treats weren’t going to work until she had a good run. Five minutes later, and with the help of a neighbor grabbing some treats, she settled down. How her stitches didn’t get torn, I couldn’t tell you. Reading up on the add-on laser treatment option suggests that (when done right), it improves the healing time by 30%-50%. Maybe it was that. Regardless, I reached out to Bowie S&N to ask what to watch for. It was a Sunday night and they responded! Maybe I got lucky. Maybe they’re that good. Again, received sound advice. They were great in the pre-surgery process, day of, and post-surgery follow up. I’m glad we went the extra distance to use Bowie Spay & Neuter.

I cannot recommend Bowie Spay & Neuter enough. The staff is so kind and clearly cares so much for animals. During the vet's pre-operative exam she noticed something wrong with my cat's heart and made sure to do blodowork to confirm it was safe for him to undergo anesthesia. The staff even made sure to call me once my cat woke up because they knew I was worried about him, and they remembered which cat was mine when I came to pick him up. They gave very clear post-op instructions and he is recovering well. I had such a positive experience and am so thankful for the Bowie Spay & Neuter team.
